Sixers have been a surprising team thus far and I feel like they are a few pieces away from really putting together the next great team in the east, with the Celtics and Hawks possibly falling off in a year and teams like the Magic and Knicks likely to make moves to appease their stars the Sixers are the sleeper team in the East no one thinks about…they have a lot of depth, but they need to cash in on some of their assets…1st…they should draft Kenneth Faried in the top 20 first and foremost, they need a elite rebounder and interior defender and if Faried can bring that energy and fire to the Sixers frontcourt it instantly upgrades their already good defense…2nd…we need to come to a decision on Evan Turner, is he really destined to become our starting shooting guard and lead our team in scoring for the next 5 to 10 years OR is he a very good role player that does everything well but can’t be depended on for leading his team in scoring…the decision must be made this summer…my idea is to trade Turner to a team with a young scorer, players like Nick Young and J.R Smith could become 20 plus point scorers on a team full of versatile defenders…a trade idea I love is Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young for J.R Smith and Danilo Gallinari…the Nuggets lock up their Sg position(Smith and Affalo are free agents) they also get a Sf/Pf in Young and get to resign Wilson Chandler for the Sf position…Turner and Young are a nice combo to add to the core of Lawson, Chandler and Nene( everyone else would likely leave in Free agency or trades)…the Sixers can use Smith to score in the starting lineup and hopefully reach his true potential in Philadelphia(the Sixers would be taking a huge risk but Smith’s offensive skills are needed in Philly) Gallo could become a Toni Kukoc type 6th man and would be great in a lineup of Holiday, Smith, Iguadola, Brand and Faried( Gallinari can play Sf or Pf off the bench) the Sixers would now only need a decent Center to defend and block shots, Joel Pryzbilla is a guy I like, we have a player in Hawes who could he retained and is a fine young center in his own right, he needs to be more consistent to be a good starting C, my final move would be Lou Williams for Jerryd Bayless, although Lou is a more polished one on one scorer I like Bayless’s potential to play off a scorer(Smith or Gallo) and playmakers(Holiday and Iguadola)…any thoughts basketball fans…

All your suggestions seem reasonable and realistic. Faried imo would be perfect, given he provides exactly what the Sixers desperately crave for, activity, rebounding and defense from the post (anti Mareese, lol). The idea of trading Turner sounds ideal also, given his failure to live up to Sixers expectation that he could start and contribute immediately (especially for someone like Gallo as you suggested), but I’m not sure the Sixers would give up that easily on him (he is after all, a number 2 draft pick). If the Sixers do intent on keeping him and continue to develop him, they could look to the FA market for a scoring 2 (as you suggested) to help complement Iggy’s versatility and Jrue’s playmaking. One that comes to mind is Lakers guard Shannon Brown. This season, he has proven he is not only a ridiculous athlete, but someone who can comfortably knock down mid and long range shots through both set shots or dribble drives. Of course, given their poor cap space (while positive after this season given Songaila’s and Kapono’s contract finally expire, Brand and Nocioni’s hefty contract remain, hence limiting their positive cap space to only a few million), the Sixers realistically only have one room to sign one mid level FA (unless they trade Nocioni’s expiring contract next season for a starting caliber center). If they don’t go for Shannon off the FA, most likely they’ll go with one of Tyson Chandler, Sam Dalembert or (as you suggested) Pryzbilla, whom all seem ideal as their starting 5 man; a defensive rebounding counterpart to Brand’s savvy interior post offense. If it was up to me though, I’d prefer one of Tyson or Dalembert, as their athleticism is more ideal to their system. Lastly, Lou for Bayless, while great since Bayless has ability to play off ball, is not necessarily required imo, as Lou Will provides them exactly what’s required off of him, instant scoring ala Jamal Crawford (something which Bayless, while obviously capable, remains inconsistent at it).

Draft Faried, Trade Turner and T.Young for J.R Smith and Gallinari, Finally Trade Lou Williams for Bayless, we can keep Hawes and Speights to split time at C ( safer then overpaying in FA ) Brand and Faried can play C too, the key is drafting an interior defensive specialist and trading for scorers Smith and Gallo( Turner and Young are great building blocks for Denver, and Thad and Ty Lawson have had a close relationship since high school, both would be great for Chemistry ) lastly Lou Williams is a fine combo guard and scorer but he must go, Lou would be a welcome addition to the Raps and Bayless can play his true role ( Dunking on fools and hitting 3’s off Holiday, Iguadola and Gallinari assist ) after these move the roster looks like this…Pg-Holiday and Bayless ( Iggy and Gallo also handle the ball and create for teammates ) Sg-JR Smith and 3 point specialist X ( Bayless and Iggy can slide up or down to play Sg ) Sf- Iguadola and Gallinari ( 1 versatile defender/playmaker/dunk artist and 1 versatile scorer/playmaker/3 point threat ) Pf Kenneth Faried and Marresse Speights ( offense meets defense, maybe these guys can play to their strengths and split minutes providing interior defense and a scoring option off the bench…Brand and Gallinari can also play Pf for long periods of time ) C…Elton Brand ( would start out of necessity ) and Spencer Hawes ….plus we have our MLE ( hopefully a starting caliber C would sign with us…Joel Pryzbilla ??? ) Nocioni has a team option/expiring contract we can offer for a big man as well…I like Brand in his Horace Grant role playing Pf/C…

No.  You are suggesting drastic changes that we not only don’t need to do, but most definitley will not do.  JR Smith or Nick Young??  Why would we regress?  Unless an amazing deal comes along, let’s keep what we have and add a stud Center.

As a Raps fan I would happily agree to a Jeryd Bayless for Lou Williams deal. If I’m not mistaken Lou’s D is pretty solid for a backup pg, something the Raps need with Calderon starting.

Yea Lou Will’s defense is pretty bad.  He will not help the Raps problem on D, that’s for sure.

The only change we need to make is trade Iggy for Kamen, and draft one of the Morris’, Faried, or Jonus V.

Holiday, Meeks, Turner, Brand, Kamen: Off Bench Lou Will, Thad Young, Faried/M.Morris

or…Holiday, Turner, Young, Brand, Kamen…either one of them starting lineups are young, aggressive, hungry, and will only grow together…Turner is better then people think.  If he gets to start and play 30 minutes evrey game next year you’re looking at 17 PPG, 7 RPG, 4APG.  Imagine is Turner and Johnson switched spots on the Wolves Turner would be top 5 in all rookie rankings.

I like the idea.  The only thing I would change is to draft Jordan Hamilton instead if he was there at our pick.
