thunder 3rd and 25th pick
Right now I have Harden and Lawson with center being non exisitent in this draft. I think Lawson would be a good backup and maybe play along side Westbrook at times.
why is everyone so set on the thunder picking a PG? not satisfied with Westbrook?
And don't forget they brought in Livingston, they had atkins and watson (though I'm not sure that they'll be around)....
I donno. I think they should target Harden at 3, for sure. Unless they can trade down a spot or two and get a big and Steph Curry outta #3 and then at 25 they should just be looking for BPA....
My vote is for trading down to get Curry and another asset and then at 25 I like a guy who a lot of people have 2nd round~ Taj Gibson. I think he's underrated.
why not hasheem thabeet at 3 thunder needs a big man they are unsized thats why most of the time they lose because they dont have great sized big guy and for the 25th pick shouldnt they dionte christmas the three point machine he fit great durant y not these two guy
i mean, if the thunder think that christmas is a guy who can contribute more than just shooting than they may take him.... I don't think Christmas is a 1st rounder, IMO... What about Ellington? he's a very good shooter and a better overall prospect than Christmas
I don't think Thabeet would be a bad pick, but I agree with someone else who suggested signing Gortat.... you know how he matches up with competition in the NBA. The case is still out on Thabeet. I'm just not that high on him.... I think that Harden will go on to be a much better prospect. I'd definitely agree though, Thabeet would help their defense.
Find away to get Harden & Thabeet...simple as that
Westbrook
Harden
Durant
Green
Thabeet
I really believe the Thunder can get the 2nd pick or the 5th pick without giving up pick 3. Think about it. Plus Oklahoma City has the cap room to take on a couple of bad contracts.
Trade Bait
25th pick
Sefolosha
2010 Draft Picks
Of course though I read a rumor that said Desmond Mason is working really hard and could start at SG for the Thunder this year.
I think Harden is the choice at #3, he's great in catch and shoot situations and he should have plenty of those with KD and RW on the perimeter with him. He is also a plus passer for a 2 guard which is something OKC could use with RW's limited experience at PG. Questions about his athleticism seem to have been answered from his combine numbers and even if he isn't a defensive stopper, they have Sefalosha coming off the bench.
After that pick I think they'll go with best available although I don't think they'll be selecting at 25, or if they do I think they may have another pick before that. With teams like the Hornets looking to sell their pick and teams like DET looking to move down I think the Thunder will move up and take someone who has fallen further than they expected. If they go with Harden at 3 look for them to maybe take a big like Mullens somewhere in the teens and then draft a PG later.
@ xbadgerhustler - the reason I think they'd take a PG like Lawson if he slides is because he is the BPA and out of the 4 PGs on the roster 2 (Wilkens and Watson) will be gone and the other 2 (RW and Livingston) have the ability to slide over and play the 2. Also there is little risk in taking Lawson at 25 as far as money is concerned and it gives them a viable backup in case Livingston never fully returns to form. Nike Calathes is another option as he is a big combo guard who they could leave in Europe for a year while they further evaluate Livingston.
@gatorheels - if they could pull that off it would definitely be an upgrade. They have 2 likely lottery selections next year along with the 25th pick and Watson's expiring deal which is worth around 6 million. Packaging Watson, a 1st next year, the 25th, and a young prospect like DJ White might be enough to get back into the top 5 or 6 if they get that pick and take on a bad contract but you never know
I could see OKC going after a big like Gortat in FA, especially if they don't select Thabeet. He has proven that he can hold his own at the defensive end against some of the elite big men and is an effective rebounder which is all OKC really needs from their 5 at this point. With RW, Harden, KD, and Green at 1-4 their center will not need to do a lot of scoring. As far as signing Ben Gordon goes I think that would be a terrible mistake and a long shot. First I don't think he wants to come to OKC and second while they have the cap room I don't think it is worth it to spend 10-12 million a year on an extremely undersized SG who plays little defense. OKC would be better off saving some of that cap room in an attempt to resign Durant, RW etc. when their rookie deals expire. Sorry for the long post, just my opinions.
Harden at 3, 25 is up in the air, a lot of decent choices there so probably BPA. I heard we may be able to either sign Gortat or obtain Javale McGee, so I don't see them picking another unsure center prospect in Thatbeet (See Petro, Swift, Sene). Also I've noticed they've been working out numerous players that are expected to go in the 14-20 type ranges, so I believe a trade for that spot is going to happen. They've also been working out a lot of players in the mid range 2nd round as well, yet they don't have a 2nd round pick. It's pretty obvious they're going to make a move or two.
I think the Thunder should draft James Harden with the 3rd and trade the 25th pick for a productive defensive C from a good team and really doesn't need their back up, like Ben Wallace or Marcus Camby/Chris Kamen (whoever they want to keep), or trade it for a 2010 1st round pick.
