SnowtaParticipantThe Wolves held a free scrimmage for fans yesterday and I have to admit it’s awesome watching NBA players play basketball again. A few takeaways…
Lavine is on a mission this year. He put on 10 lbs of muscle and looks as explosive as ever. His shot looked great as he drained some three and mixed in a silky midrange turnaround fadeaway. This guy plays with a chip on his shoulder and I love it. He said his mission is to make doubters look stupid. His first challenge will be beating out K Mart for the 2.
Bjelica has already had an impact on this team IMO. He’s so unselfish and skilled I think the way he moves the ball wears off on these young guys. Last night the ball was moving like I hadn’t seen it all last year.
Tyus looked great especially shooting as I think he was 3/3 from deep. Bazz and Towns started off slow but finished strong. Payne had a double double and looked good except for the fact it still doesn’t seem like he knows where he needs to be on offense. Rudez surprisingly played well knocking down some 3’s.
Wiggins didn’t put up a to points but I thought still looked great. I thought his ball handling was noticeably better and he was creating for others which we saw very little of last year. I like that he’s trying to expand his game and this is the time of the year to work on it. His shot looked good and of course he stood out in terms of just being so long an athletic.
Overall I was happy with the scrimmage and it seems Sam has the team on the right track. Can’t wait for the season to start!

Make’Em Say UGHParticipantI’ll go down on the Lavine ship, this guy is going to be MAJOR. He’ll be a premier 2 guard in this league in a few years. His maturity is vastly underated, and you can tell by watching him play or via interviews that he truly loves the game. He is dedicated to his craft. I think he was stereotypically compared to Gerald Green, JR Smith, etc. coming out of college…but he’s mentally more focused at this age than they were. Can’t wait to see the progression.

Robb_CParticipantLavine could be what Jamal Crawford should of been, He has a great skill set and he looks great in the layup line, its his Basketball IQ that will be the question.. Hes still young and has a lot to learn but its hard for me to say hes going to be great or elite, when all the great or elite guards had advanced basketball iqs at young ages

phila9012ParticipantThe twolves drafted hardworkers, and that is better than they have had in the past.Wiggins, dieng, lavine, and muhammed all put in a lot of work. The culture seems to have changed and it seems like a positive hard working culture now, which is the best it has been since KG left.

omphalosParticipantI’m still kicking the Celtics for taking Marcus Smart instead of Lavine. He was the star playe le they were looking for.
I think he’ll be a top-5 SG in the NBA by his 4th season.
T’Wolves are my official Western Conference team because they have so many of my guys on that team – Wiggins, Lavine, Rubio, Bazz and Towns are all dudes I rated highly coming out of the draft and still believe in.

T RexSmart is already that good, lol.
4 years from now? The future is now. Smart’s not only a top 5 SG, but he’s a top 11 point guard.
