who will be the timberwolves staring shooting guard… wayne ellington or delonte west?
they have like 6 guards on the team and IMO i think the starting lineup should like like this

    pg- johnny flynn
    sg- wayne ellington
sf- michael beasely or cory brewer
    pf- kevin love
    c- darko milicic

i think they had an ok off season and wont lose as many games as they lost last year but they still wont be close to making the playoffs

you do know they drafted Wes Johnson right? They did not have a good offeason. They GAVE away the teams best player. I can guarantee you that this team finishes in last place. The team is full of rookies that wont have a clue how to play defense and will settle for bad shot selections. They will never equal a lot of wins

I’m sure Delonte West will be waived.

They have a huge hole at the shooting guard spot. I don’t think Ellington is starter material.

I don’t really consider Brewer a shooting guard, but he started there a lot last season. I think that’ll be the case this season as well.

There’ll be a competition for who starts at small forward between Johnson, Beasley and Webster.

I agree. Ellington isn’t a true starter at SG. He’s more along that (less explosive) Marcus Thornton line as a scorer off the bench. They’ll switch between Brewer and Johnson at starting SG. Brewer should start though, because he’s the only person in their lineup that is a solid defender.

What do you guys think about Johnson playing the 2. I know he’s projected as a 3, but at 6’7 205 he’s got the build for SG, and seems way too small for a 3. He’s a good shooter but he probably needs to improve his handles.

This team will probably have a top 3 pick again next year and it should be interesting. Take Barnes or Perry and move Johnson to the 2 full time? Make Kanter play the 5, even when he’s probably a 4. Or take another PG i Knight or Irving? What a mess Kahn has made there…I’m not a Minny fan, but I hate seeing teams be consistantly bad.

They get Rubio only if Rubio wants to come over. He can sign another contract in Europe if he chooses to.

Probably Martell Webster, or Corey Brewer.

I think of Brewer as more of a small forward but they already have too many, honestly i think Webster will be their starter by the end of the season.

The Wolves starting SG will be Martell Webster… until he proves that he can’t. Here’s hoping he can.

None of the players on the current roster. Latrell Sprewell would be a nice pickup.

I think Wes Johnson is the prototype 3. Brewer should be the 2 since has has the quickness to guard SG’s.

“What is settling for bad shot selections mean?”

If you are going to be an a-hole, at least have your sentences together too. “What IS settling for bad selection mean” or What DOES settling for bad selections mean

    Starters:
    Flynn-Johnson-Brewer-Love-Milicic:
    Very tall lineup minus J-Fly

    Bench:
    Ridnour-Ellington-Webster-Beasley-Koufous:
Solid bench. I’d like to see Beasley get a shot at starting SF over Brewer.

    Next year it might be:
    Flynn-Rubio-Johnson-Love-Draft Pick
Kanter or Melo at Center maybe? and I don’t agree with Kahn putting Rubio and Flynn together. I guess Flynn is PG on defense and SG on offense with Rubio SG on defense and PG on offense. I’m not sure yet. And I think Johnson is a SG in the NBA. As others said he’s only 205 so he’s not big for a SF, but he is very athletic.

I like how the guy said they dont know how to play defense…just think about that statement. Guys who have been playing basketball for their entire lives dont know how to play defense?? I think they all have an idea of how to play defense, they just arent very good at it.

Anyways…i dont get what the fuss is about Johnson playing the 2…i know i know, he’s supposed to be a SF, but in the long run, is there that big of a difference between the 2? Johnson is going to guard some 2s, and he’ll guard some 3s.

Brewer started all 82 games for the wolves at sg last season. If he didnt have his newly acquired 3 point shot, he wouldnt be starting. Plus, if Kahn hasnt traded him yet, he must be high on him.

Wes Johnson has the ability to be a taller sg, but until he can prove he can effectively handle the ball, he wont be starting.

I’m interested if Rambis will give Webster a chance to start, although I dont see it happening

You guys are loco holmes. Wesley Johnson is a combo forward at this stage. This isn’t NBA 2k where you can move everybody down a position and have an all dunker lineup. He has next to no off dribble game at the NBA level, has never defended the 2, and to be honest I think he will have an adjusting period to the 3 as it is. I really felt like he was a power forward who can shoot threes in college. His buckets were either from long range, close in, or freethrows. To say he is going to all of a sudden be a 2 guard right away is really underestimating how long it takes to play a new position for a rookie.

    Pg Flynn Ridnour
    Sg Brewer Elington
    Sf Webster Johnson Beasley
    Pf Love Beasley
    C Milicic Love

Come to think of it, I reallllly like thier offseason. I’d like it alot better if they took Cousins or Monroe, but I could see how Cousins would be a time bomb in Minnesota and Monroe would have been considered a reach. I think dont see Johnson ever bieng a star, I think he is a James Posey who dunks better. Richard Jefferson at best IMO.

They actually have decent depth, they can run 2 solid teams. And some young talent, Kahn is actually stacking some assets. Considering Rubio is still a big chip in his pocket, maybe he isn’t doing too bad after all. They will stink this year though, but a good formula all things considered.

Rambis might want to go small. I think Love can handle the center position most of the time, except against Dwight, Yao or Bynum. Maybe Bogut too.

    pg Flynn
    sg Brewer
    sf Johnson
    Pf Beasley
    C Love

That is a small lineup, but has 4 guys who run about 6’8 and then Flynn to be the wheels. They would probably be decently fast in the open court as well, take advantage of Loves famous outlet passing and Flynns jets. Beasley is a good face up, isolation option for them. Johnson is a spot up shooter, Brewer a good slasher, and Love nice on the block.

Anyone watched the 1 summer league game Wesley played in ?

dude hung around the 3 point line..the coach was waving for him to go inside..He seemed lost on offense..

and his man constantly beat him on defense…

he did show 2 of the same things he displayed at Syracuse that he’s a great athlete and good outside shooter….

but he wasnt worth the 4th pick…
