I will probably watch all these game today. I figured I would go ahead and start a thread. I will post some updates as the games begin. Looking forward to some great games.

    4pm Hornets vs. Spurs

Players I will be interested in watching:

Luke Nevill- New Orleans could use some help in the post. I wanna see if Nevill can make an impact in the NBA. Can he become a backup for Chandler?
Marcus Thornton- Lets be honest here I really like Rasual Butler but the Hornets need more firepower at SG. Can Thornton score on the nba level as a rookie?
Julian Wright- How much has he improved. He has a world of potential but is he making significant progress?

Nando De Colo- Not sure what his plans are as far as if he is staying overseas or not. I love scouting international players.
Alonzo Gee- Has the build & athletic ability but is he motivated? He has to play aggressive if he wants to make a team.
McClinton & Blair- I’ve seen plenty of them already but I am intersted to see if they dominate in summer league. I think both can help the Spurs this year.
Malik Hairston- a little undersized for the way he plays but I enjoyed watching him at Oregon.
George Hill – the backup for Tony Parker…can he step his game up? Looked promising last season.

I expect the Spurs to win this game fairly easy. They have way more talent.

    6pm Rockets vs. TWolves

Chase Budinger vs. Jermaine Taylor- which SG will impress more?

Johnny Flynn & Paul Harris should be fun to watch playing alongside each other again. The same thing can be said for Ellington & Henderson
Garret Siler- the huge big man that didn’t get drafted. Minnesota needs bigger size in the post. Can Siler impress & make their roster? Pecherov could also be a factor as he is also 7″ tall.
Corey Brewer- I expect great things from Brewer in summer league & during the nba season. He has worked very hard on his game over the summer. He should be 100% healthy now for the first time in a long time. Looking to see if he can still defend at that elite level like he used to. Also has his shot improved?

I think Minnesota has more talent and should have better chemistry. I expect them to win this game by 6 points.

    8pm Thunder vs. Grizzlies

Well we pretty much know what Oklahoma City is capable of. Looking forward to seeing how Devon Hardin & BJ Mullens continue to play.

My eyes will be on the 3 UConn players for Memphis. Thabeet, Adrien, & Marcus Williams. I think Williams could be a valuable backup to Conley. Adrien could also make the roster.

Sam Young- should have a solid summer league as I expect him to be the backup for Gay this year

DeMarre Carrol- will he show he was worthy of being a 1st round pick?

    Thunder win by 4.

    10pm Cavs vs. Bucks

Leo Lyons- He was my sleeper of the draft of course he didn’t get picked. He had a solid showing in Orlando even though he didn’t get much playing time. I look for him to have a solid game tonight.

Eyenga- Potential is there but I want to see just how raw this kid is.

Jodie Meeks- I’m from Kentucky so of course I want to see him do well

Brandon Jennings- he should be very fun to watch

Bucks should have no problem controlling this game and I think they win by double digits.

    FINAL Spurs 92 Hornets 86

    http://www.nba.com/summerleague2009/games/boxscore.jsp?gameId=1520900009

Julian Wright is looking more & more like a bust. He shot a lot of bricks. His shot selection is poor. Just doesn’t seem to have high IQ.

Darren Collison looked solid but not spectacular. I think he can be a descent starting PG sorta like Chalmers. Obviously he is a pretty good backup to Chris Paul for now.

Marcus Thornton looked very quick and has very good handles. He has a quick release on his shot. He can score in a variety of ways.

Alonzo Gee just doesn’t have the drive to be successful. Very lazy and he will not make it in the league.

Hairston was average looking. He won’t help a team but he won’t hurt one either. He had a pretty good game.

The rumors of Blair losing weight are true. He has definitely slimmed down some. Looks a little quicker because of the weight loss I assume. Even though he was shorter than the other post players he was still effective. He had a double double. Looked like he did in college as far as dominating.

Best Player: George Hill- all around very good player. I think he is certainly a starting caliber PG in the nba. Once Parker is finished Hill will take over in San Antonio.

Most disappointing- tie between Nevill & McClinton
Nevill only played a handful of mintues and looked very slow. He looked out of place. I suggest he head to Europe.
McClinton looked tiny on the court. He had trouble getting his shot off and was blocked once. Just wasn’t a factor on offense or defense.

    TWolvesManiac- I am watching online

Minnesota vs. Rockets next….should be a good one

Alonzo Gee is a freak athlete but he is inconsistent. Him, Senario Hillman, and JaMychal Green shouldve been dunkin all over folks last year. The fact that they werent good with that talent shows just how lazy the players are and how bad coaching was. Thornton is like a better version of Willie Green, an explosive shooter/scorer. Nevill is garbage to me, I was SOOO unimpressed by him against Arizona in the tourny. Hill and Budinger were in the paint making hay all game while he was being soft.

Well the Rockets/TWolves game wasn’t near as entertaining as the 1st game today. Anyways here is what I saw from the 3 quarters I watched…I missed the 3rd quarter

    Rockets 79 Wolves 65

Johnny Flynn- overall had a very average performance…he looks like a pro. However, is he really any better than Telfair right now? I don’t think so. Will he ever be better than Telfair? Maybe

Gerald Henderson- really stayed very quiet. I think he felt out of place since this isn’t really his team that he will be playing for. Should be a descent backup to Raja Bell.

Wayne Ellington- He just simply had an off night. I’m not too worried about Wayne. He was taking good shots they just werent falling. I think he is a good backup SG. Minnesota better sign a free agent SG with some experience.

Pecherov- well he clearly isn’t the type of big post player the Wolves are looking for. This dude is super soft and just likes to shoot long range jumpers. He does have pretty good touch for a big guy.

Siler- he definitely has the size but no enough skills. He is too slow to make it in the nba.

Corey Brewer- he looked OK. overall had an average game. He hasnt improved much from what I saw which is disappointing. He is still very very very very skinny. I mean he has to gain some weight. He is one of my favorite players but he still looks like a backup at best on the nba level.

Jermaine Taylor looked OK also. He had a solid game but nothing special.

Chase Budinger did his usual. Shot the ball good again. This is the 3rd good game in a row for Chase. He has shown that he is consistent. Had a couple of rebound and assists this game which was good to see. He needs to become more than just a jumpshooter.

Joey Dorsey is a monster…he is a true rebounding machine, great on defense. He will always be a solid big man to bring off the bench.

I really didn’t see a standout best player in this game.

This game was a BLOWOUT which surprised me.
    Memphis 86 OKC 57

Best Player: (not including Westbrook) Marcus Williams- he absolutely controlled this game. he looks like a starting PG in the nba to me. He threw a lot of perfect passes. He was dropping dimes. Has a good shot but forced a couple. Steady floor leader.

Most Disappointing: BJ Mullens- he is soft as a cupcake. I certainly wouldn’t want him on my team not even as a backup Center. He has soft touch for a big man but he doesn’t rebound. He just isn’t close to being ready for the nba.

Devon Hardin just didn’t do much either. I was expecting more from him. I just don’t think he is motivated to become a good player. He isn’t active enough.

Kyle Weaver looked average…same ole defense, smart player, looks like he has improved his shot a little. Sefolosha & Weaver are alot alike. One of them needs to be traded IMO.

Harden didn’t shoot well but he is a very smart & crafty player. He doesn’t force things at all. I think he should start at SG even as a rookie for the Thunder.

Westbrook- looked like his usual self. Able to score at will but still turns the ball over too much.

Vaden didn’t do anything.. Trading for him was so stupid. He needs to head overseas.

Ibaka & DJ White weren’t worth mentioning. The Thunder as a whole just didn’t show up for this game.

Thabeet has a new haircut…same haircut that Glen Davis had in the playoffs…not a good look ha. .He really didn’t impact the game that much on defense like he usually does. Still played descent.

Sam Young & Carroll were solid picks for the Grizzlies. They both looked very smart. Both of them will be perfect backups at their positions. The Grizzlies finally have some good depth.

Arthur had a good game. He looks a little better than Carroll IMO.

Adrien was OK but he got overshadowed by Arthur & Carroll

    Anybody else watching these games?
The next game should be a good one. Cavs vs. Bucks

You hit everything on the head sir lol. EVERYTHING! I also think the Thunder shoud trade Thabo or Weaver. Weaver could be a good backup PG though, he is a do-it-all type, even though he doesnt score alot. Thabo is the better (slightly) defender, because he is a more effective risktaker. Corey Brewer looks like a bust to me. He was taken top 10, and he brings all the things to the table that an undrafted would bring (hustle and defense) but nothing else. He would make a better impact on a contender, but he would still be an underachiever relative to were he was picked
