why no 1 likes him? freshman putting up 16 pts at a 49% clip.

    5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.7 steals IN 26 MINS

look at jeremy lamb numbers and notice that he also plays 10 more minutes and is a soph.

the only thing jeremy got on him is 3pt shooting, way less turnovers, and better ft shooter. wroten is better at everything else

    why????????????????????????

I think people view him as more style than substance.  Same as some here dont like Reke…..who I compare Wroten to in some ways.  The perception is that the big numbers only mask their true flaws.   I love them both because I like excitement…but people just dont buy into the whole PG thing, especially because Wroten is turnover prone.

Yeah, I just can’t get behind him as a NBA point guard either.

I feel like the politics of basketball have really hurt Tony Wroten…ever since he tore his ACL his junior year hes been getting screwed…theres no way he should have been left out of the MCdonald’s All American Game but he was. I’ve been saying since before the season started that he would be one of the best Point Guards in the nation and hes arguably had the best freshman season so far. I think the things that people knock him for are turnovers and his unwillingness to make the simple play, and while those are legitimate concerns, there is no way that that should keep him from being a late lottery draft pick. The fact is that he has game changing explosiveness, size and court vision, that all gives him tremendous upside, and unlike other project type of players he has already shown that he is an excellent college basketball player. r

From what Ive seen, he doesn’t take care of the ball and is prone to dumb decision making.  He’s averaging 4.3 turn overs per game, which would be one thing if he was your point guard, but he’s your wing, Gaddy operates as more of a point in that system although Woten does had the ability to distribute.  He also shoots 50% from the free throw line.  He gets to the stripe 7 times a game, which is a nice clip, but he can’t convert.  Those are big red flags to me, when looking at a guy who projects to a two guard in the NBA.

To be fair he started out shooting something like 20% or 30% from the line after his first handful of games and he does play the point a fair amount. Although I do agree he definitely needs to improve both.

Well for starters, he’s not a PG. I see a slasher and a playmaker who’s aggressive and more athletic than his opposition. As far as running an offense, he’s still awful. his best play is looking for his own offense, otherwise he’s a poor decision maker. He can’t shoot and his handle is way too loose and high.

I’ll tell you who Wroten reminds me of when I see him play…and I’m not making the comparison because of where he’s from. He reminds me of a lefty Terrence Williams. Aggressive, athletic, physically strong, good slasher, creative passer, but a player who’s creativity and vision is nullified by his poor decision making, penchant for pounding the crap out of the ball and sloppy ball-handling.

He has the size to play the 2 in the NBA so that’s not that bad.

Turnovers will be fine he is only 18 , Turner avg over 4 a game as a 21yo juniors..

in my eyes im not only like Wroten but as see him as a future allstar to be honest..if there would be no sites like this and i would go only based by my opinion he found be lock for top10  with a top5 posibility if he continues to get more PT…last three games he had 23 27 24 i guess and in the last one had 3to’s in over 30 minutes which is not that bad compared to his season start

He is a SG that can play the point in stretches. His game and play making reminds me of Devin Harris whos really more of SG than a point. He is good athlete in the mold of Curtney Lee.

Why no one likes him? You serious?

People are calling him a top 10 pick.

He has a new thread every other day. He gets as much love on this site as any freshman out there.

"I think people view him as more style than substance."

As of now, that is exactly what Tony Wroten is.

Wroten’s talent isn’t questioned, but he doesn’t play smart. The turnovers have cost them games, and the inability for their two point guards to value possessions on both ends of the court are the reason Washington has such a lousy record when they have the talent to win the Pac 12. The winter break period is going to be huge for them. It is the last period of time in the season where real growth can be made. The talent is there if the freshmen and sophomore grow up.

He kind of reminds me of Larry Hughes. I agree his turnovers will diminish at some point but there is no excuse for his free throw shooting. He has to step that up. I just think he is learning the game.

He’s a guy I like to watch and is exciting, but a guy I wouldn’t want on my team If I had an intentions of winning an NCAA or NBA championship.
