2)bj mullens-too athletic,and way more upside than frye

4)harden-i would say he’s more of a manu ginobili or joe johnson type of player
5)thabeet-so your’e basically saying he sucks
6)derozan-will be a better scorer than wallacein my opinion

los507ParticipantThat list is on the money even though I think Johnny Flynn is not that similar to Lowry playing wise they are both hard nosed players Flynn is more skilled but there are some similar things as far as body type so I have to give props. Good list.Harden and Redd comparison is good as well.never thought of it that way

joe2BAParticipantHere is my comparable list as well as my rankings
1.Griffin = Karl Malone (Mark my words he will be a hall of famer)
2.Rubio = Steve Nash (A clash between pistol pete and steve nash, can be a 10 ten player for the next decade)
3.Thabeet = Mutumbo (Will be a multiple defensive player of the year winner)
4.Harden = Jim Jackson (Averaged 16 per game for his career)
5.DeRozan = Jason Richardson
6.Jennings = Kenny Anderson (best case scenario)
7.Jordan Hill = Tyrone Hill
8.Curry = Nick Van Exel (better shot, not as quick)
9.Chase Budinger = Rudy Fernandez
10.Tyreke Evans = Larry Hughes (should be better, but skill set is similar)
11.Jonny Flynn = bobby jackson (smaller, but better passer)
12.Tyler Hansburogh = Louis Scola
13.Gerald Henderson = Dahntay Jones (better scorer)
14.Jeff Teague = boby sura
15.Earl Clark = Jared JefferiesThe rest of the draft isn’t worth comparing

AllenParticipantRubio really plays nothing like Pete or Nash. They compare him to Pete because he has a big nose and they compare him to Nash because of the floppy hair. Their games arent similar at all though

pistonsmanParticipantGRIFFIN= ANTONIO MCDYESS OR MARCUS CAMBY
RICKY RUBIO= RAYMOND FELTON OR STEVE NASH
HASHEEM= SHAQ ONLY FOR D AND REBOUNDING NOT FOR SCORING
FLYNN= RAYMODN FELTON OR DEVIN HARRIS
TYREKE EVANS= TAYSHAUN PRINCE
GERALD HENDERSON= RIP HAMILTON OR (IF YOU LIKE THIS) DANNY GRANGER
BJ MULLENS= CHRIS ANDERSON (BIRDMAN)
JON BROCKMAN= HE’S TOUGH SO HE’S LIKE A RASHEED WALLACE (WILL HAVE TO WORK ON GAME SHOTTING RANGE TO BECOME LIKE HIM BUT I THINK HE CAN)
TYLER HANSBROUGH= JUWAN HOWARD/ C. WEBB
PAUL HARRIS= RUDY FERNANDEZ
JEFF PENDERGRAPH= PAT GARRITY0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/31/2009 - 6:32am #154767

Rubio = Pistal Pete Maravich
Thabeet = Mutumbo
Harden = Ginobli
Jordan Hill = Bosh/Mikki Moore

Gerald Henderson = Dahntay Jones
Eric Maynor = Kirk Hinrich
James Johnson= Andres Nocioni
Earl Clark = Marvin Williams
Jonny Flynn = Damon Stoudimire
Chase Budinger = Rudy Fernandez
Tyreke Evans = George Gervin (due to size and ridiculous handles)
Wayne Ellington = Raja Bell
Ty Lawson = Will Bynum
Jeff Teague = Baron Davis
BJ Mullens = Chris Anderson (has huge hops just needs time to develop all around game)
Patty Mills = Raymond Felton0- Posted on: Sun, 05/31/2009 - 8:51am #154799
sayanythingParticipantBorlack, besides your Rubio comparison to Pete Maravich, your comparisons were very, very legit. At first, I didn’t understand some of them, but the more I looked and thought about it, things started to fall together. The only other comparisons I had troubles with were DeRozan’s, Evans, and Mullens. I think that the comparisons are the best case ever scenario and perhaps not the most realistic scenario, Vince Carter’s peak was amazing and Gervin averaged around 30 ppg over a 3 year stretch, though I do see the similarities in your comparisons. Just think they’re a little out there. For comparing Mullens to Anderson, the problem with Mullens is he doesn’t have energy out there, which is what Anderson oozes. Mullens is so lackadaisical on the court but is so talented if he could just put it together and be motivated. Anderson makes the absolute most out of his talent.
As for comparison Rubio to Pistol, Pete Maravich was one of the greatest scorers of all time. If there were 3-Point lines on college, he would have averaged something like 57 points per game, something out of this world and had a career average of 25 ppg in the NBA. Rubio isn’t a scorer, he’s a playmaker, hes a true point. Pistol was a shooting guard with great precentages and maxed out at around 6 assists a game. If Rubio starts, he should be around there his rookie year but I greatly doubt he’ll touch 25 ppg.

borlackParticipanti get ur points and they are well put..ur absolutely right about the maravich comparison but it was more of defensive outlook pistal and rubio crave steals and great handles and interesting passing techniques, but i guess hes a mix of him and stockton if ur looking at it in that perspective.
as for mullens im just thinking if he really really wants to be successful in the nba he needs to develop more of all around skill he has near identical athletic abilities as the birdman.
the gervin comparison i know is a risk and a stretch but i was just thinking of a tall scorer who craves handling the rock..and one guy i could think of was the iceman they both are so smooth with the rock. but i know its a stretch.
but thanks for the rebuttal

sayanythingParticipantdeffinetly get the defensive comparison, they both love gambling and it’s probably because they lack the elite athleticism to defend their opponents so they try to catch up with their hands.
and i understand/agree with your other two. good statements my friend.

Untouchable JParticipantJoe2ba w/ the Jim Jackson compare…thats what im talkin bout. Many of you are going on height and weight w/out considering their actual game. i.e. Jennings plays nothing like Lou Williams or Kyle lowery.
Griffin = Amare (best case), Kenyon (worst case)
Rubio = Andre Miller
Thabeet = Dalembert
Harden = a SG version of Paul Pierce, same fat boy type strentgh, old man type game w/ deceptive quickness
Jordan Hill = Chris Wilcox
DeRozan = Gerald Wallace/Maggete/Cory Benjamin/Dohntay Jones/Jason Richardson/Deshawn Stevenson..take your pick, VC best case
Jennings = Jason Williams (white one, if he played like his 1st 2 seasons)
Curry = House/Kerr/Redick/Langdon…take your pick
Gerald Henderson = more athletic Cuttino Mobley
Eric Maynor = Sam Cassell, height and deadly mid-range game
James Johnson= Boris Diaw
Earl Clark = Tim Thomas
Jonny Flynn = TJ Ford with a J (thats saying a lot, Ford is a beast)
Chase Budinger =
Tyreke Evans = Larry Hughes
