History shows Melo is more effective at power forward, as he was Syracuse’s primary post player in college and grabbed 10 boards a game, killed in the Olympics at the 4 spot, and he’s off to a great start this season, at the power forward position…Chemistry seems to be great now, and I think Amare coming back will only mess things up…I think this Knicks team can be like the Sixers in 2001, can be led by 1 dominant star player (in Melo), with the support of a lot of role players, ala what Allen Iverson did…If I’m the Knicks, I’m packaging Amare & Shumpert, to the Bulls, for Deng, Hamilton, a first round pick, and cash, by the trading deadline…With that deal, Melo stays at power forward and Deng starts at small foward…Hamilton is a witty vet, with championship experience that can add some scoring punch to the bench a bit..Then I would go on to waive, James White, and sign Kenyon Martion, if I was the Knicks… As for the Bulls, a healthy Amare, Rose, and Shumpert in Chicago, can be a deadly trio…If Amare fails to stay healthy this season, the Bulls have insurance, with Boozer and Taj Gibson…Seems like a big man logjam, but it’s never a bad thing to have enough bigs, especially in the post season…The Bulls could also sign Josh Howard to shore up the small forward spot… In the next Summer, the Bulls could then amnesty Boozer, to sign an elite player to team up with Rose, Amare, Shumpert, and Noah

So now the Bulls has two injury-prone, overpaid bigs in Boozer and Amare. No way this happens. I think the Knicks will be interested in moving Amare, but I don’t see any takers for him. Here’s an opinion, could Amare be a big off the bench? Keep Melo and Chandler as the 4 and 5 and Amare gets his 30 minutes as the 6th man. Overpaid bench guy, but I think team will be more effective this way.

and then the Knicks get even shorter on the front line & add a player who fills a very similar role to JR smith.

and the Bulls then have a logjam up front and are left with the need for a wing scorer…

i don’t know although i don’t think stoudemare in his current level of play will help the knicks, i don’t think they can win only with carmelo either. i think at this point the only way the knicks can win it all is to hope that stoudemare can recover his 2010 form and play well with carmelo. it is a very feint hope but that is probably the only way they win a title. i dont see a way how a team literally dependent on carmelo can win past lebron+wade+bosh, durant+westbrook, and kobe+nash+dwight+pau. although their offense has been really good so far this year, i see the same basic problems as last year in that there aren’t enough creators on the team. they got a lot of shooters but shooters are uselss if no one can break down the d and dish. i think in the playoffs, the only consistent offensive threat will be carmelo again and there is no way he outcarrys the knicks past the heat, thunder and lakers who are all led by groups of stars.

No one, not even Jordan is willingly taking on the contract of Carlos Boozer, unless they are unloading an even worse contract. Which in my opinion, there isn’t one. Plus why would Charlotte add him to a young developing team? Unreal…….

     As a Bulls fan…………… $%!& NO!

I love Shumpert but want him as my starting point guard. Bulls sort of have one of those already, the youngest MVP ever, Derrick Rose. I don’t know why people want to make a him a SG, just cause of his size? He is an amazing defender. LeBron and him are the only two people that really bother Rose on defense. LeBron has shut down Rose but Shumpert in his few games vs. Rose has played the best D on him that I have seen other than LeBron. I like his offensive point guard abilities as well with his decision making and passing ability. I have been a huge fan of his ever since I saw my high school beat his but I would not want him and Rose playing together.

Amare- I was scared the Bulls were going to give him a Max deal in 2010 free agency. Even though I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate Carlos Boozer I would rather have him than Amare. At least Boozer is on the floor.

I am not giving up Deng and a draft pick for Amare/Shumpert. And I know Bulls cost-savvy management wouldn’t do this. Amare isn’t the type of player Bulls management seeks out.

    What is there starting line-up?

Rose, Shumpert, Butler, Amare, Noah…. Then you have $23 million on your bench in two guys- Boozer and Taj.

     A few things here.

    1) let us see Amare reunite with Felton and play with J Kidd first.

    2) I don’t think the Knicks are opposed to Amare coming off the bench, but Amare is. Then you have a 20mil dollar bench player who will now have shaky confidence.

    3) I appreciate the thought of the trade but it gives the Bulls 4 big men at over 10 mil per season(rounding up on Gibson’s extension). No way that happens. Bulls are a smart franchise. They will be patient in future moves.

    4) I highly doubt the Knicks want to give away their only future quality prospect in Shumpert.

If u don’t know Jordan was trying to acquire a veteran power forward in the Summer, he went hard after Carl Landry and Lou Amundson, but couldn’t get neither of them…Umm Boozer over Tyrus Thomas, is a huge upgrade dude…lol

Not with that contract. Close to a max deal for 3 more years for a 30 year-old guy who will maybe get you 15 points 8 rebounds and 0.3 blocks per game, is on the decline, no explosion after numerous injuries, and has a large history of not showing up in the playoffs.

      Crazy man.

I don’t know why you think the Bulls want Amare. They just extended Gibson and already have Boozer who they are trying to give away.

Forgive me if I’m being blind, but why would the Bulls do this? It even predicts -13 wins in your trade.

My thoughts exactly. The Bulls would be open to dealing Boozer but not for an even more overpaid player in Amare Stoudemire.

No GM on the planet would take on Amare’s contract.

Its not a horrible trade but I wouldn’t trade Shumpert a potential defensive all nba player for Deng and Rip.

Also Rip is kind of old though he fits the Knicks but they’ll be a really old team.

I disagree that no team is willing to take on Amare’s contract.

If Arenas and Joe Johnson’s contracts were moved Amare’s can too.

I still think he can contribute to the Knicks as a solid role player, just not sure he fits in w/the Knicks front line.

Don you were one of the better posters on here a few years back.  Now you show up randomly with odd posts/trades.  Anyway, rediculous trade as everyone above me has said.  No one in the NBA would take on Boozer’s contract (3 more years, all 15+ mil) so any trade with him is just a waste of time.

Amare has been hurt and struggling BUT

    1. Amare is still one of the better scoring power forwards in the league when healthy.

    2. Amare is one of the more intimidating players in the league.

    3. He’s been HURT! Not overpaid at all

    4. The Knicks wouldn’t trade him, (definitely not this year)

    5. NO CHANCE IN HELL THEY TRADE SHUMPERT!

Bulls would not make this trade, they should just trade Stoudemire for a bucket of Popeye’s he is a proven loser/team killer.  Guarantee the Knicks lose the first game he comes back

the real mystery of this trade proposal is how Don came to learn that Richard Hamilton is "witty", and how that wit will help the Knicks win basketball games.

Another season of dumbass trade proposals on nbadraft.net smh.  Why the hell would the Knicks trade Shump when he’s exactly what a defensive minded team needs?  Shump proved that he’s an excellent perimeter defender who can contribute on offense.  You don’t trade a player just because he’s hurt and the team is winning without him.

I honestly don’t see Amare killing this team with all of the vets on the team.  He has PGs on the team that actually want to set up an offense vs being the offense this year.  The attitude of this team has completely changed under Woodson.
