Josh Smith to San Antonio: Pop is the master of using versatile guys to their full potential, Smith would put up video game numbers under Pop and would finally live up to his massive potential.
Marcin Gortat to OKC: Phoenix is rebuilding and OKC has a ton of great pieces and a need for a legit scoring center. Match made in heaven
Paul Millsap to LAC: the clips need a big man that is a real post threat and is a veteran guy that can play in crunch time, Utah needs a young point guard to run the show. Win win for both teams.
Kris Humphries to Charlotte: Brooklyn needs more shooting and Charlotte needs a big man to clean the glass, after Gordon's recent outburst at practice this trade becomes more real.
Evan turner to Utah: plan B for Utah; Philly could use a veteran big that can get the job done while Utah could use extra playmaking and guard play from Evan.
JJ Reddick to Chicago: Orlando is rebuilding and JJ is their best trade piece, Chicago could send a first rounder or Marquis Teague for him. Chi town finally gets a legit shooting guard while Orlando adds more pieces to the rebuilding process.
Yes Josh Smith to Spurs would be great for both parties but what do they have to give up for him? Future picks in the 20s?
And as Suns fan I'm praying for Gortat to OKC for Lamb or PJ3
I think that the thunder would have to give up perkins who is the heart of the team with lamb to get gortat, but I think that if the thunder can get len, zeller or WCS they dont really need gortat. Also Ibaka hopefully will work on his post game this summer so that he can start playing more of a role in the offense, like he wants to. Then when perkins contract runs out they have the center they picked this year in his place. I think the thunder should focus on sustaining thier greatness like the spurs. Because Miami only 2 or 3 years left max to win championships. So if thunder can outlast them they should have a great chance to win 3 or 4 championships.
I honestly think the Spurs could get something done. Atlanta seems to be obsessed with having about $50,000,000 cap space so Steven Jackson's expiring contract, Splitter, De Colo and a few 1st rounders might be able to make it happen. I know Josh Smith is worth more than that package however Atlanta is better off getting a bit out of it than losing him for nothing in a few months time and the market won't be too high for Smith if he really is hell bent on becoming a max player as most teams won't want to give him that money.
My problem with Josh Smith is his lack of a jumpshot and I'm not convinced that he would be willing to sign with the Spurs, but I could be wrong. As long as we don't have to give up Kawhi Leonard.
I do like the Orlando/Chicago and PHX/OKC trades.
No way do they give up Leonard, his ceiling is way too high to give him up for a possible rental
@sharpe yeah Smith loves that lonnnnnnnggggg 2 but under pop he would learn how to play in his strengths,@chilbert who knows what Phoenix Gould get for Gortat; big men are a premium yet Presti loves to hold onto young guys
I could see the Nets adding Marshon Brooks in that trade while Charlotte adds another piece.
The devils in the details, LHairline. Gortat to OKC would be great since he's exactly what they're missing. But.... what would the Suns get? Lamb and PJ3, Chilbert Arenas?? C'mon man. These two guys are not going to contribute seriously anytime soon.
Same with the Jsmith trade. Spurs better not trade Kawhi to rent Jsmith for a year.
The trade that makes sense is the Humphries on to Charlotte. That one needs to happen.
Josh Smith is going to ruin the cap for what ever team he lands on. I can't see him being a good value as a max player as opposed to someone like Kawhi Leonard who may have a lower ceiling but will probably end up with a contract in the $6-10 mil range with a similar role and production.
Also, can we stop talking about Smith's potential. He's been in the league for 8 years..
I also really want Josh Smith to go to the Spurs, Tiago Splitter would be the headliner in that package, I've heard the Hawks like Patty Mills as well, so maybe that's a possibility, I don't think the Hawks would get enough, but I would love to see him added to this Spurs team, they're already my pick to win the tittle this season, they'd be the clear frontrunner in my eyes if they got Josh Smith.
