fito91ParticipantTrey Burke definitely is a great player with a lot of talent but I’m really surprised he is supposedly leaving for the NBA. Definitely thought he was going to return to Michigan.
The only reason I see for him entering the draft is the lack of point guards in the draft.
What do you guys think?

Future_Scout Mockdraft"I think that, for the most part, when you have a season as a freshman like he did, the NBA, they like them young. They think their ceiling is higher when they’re young," Benji Burke said today. "Trey had some good games and a solid season for a freshman. It’s going to be one of the weaker point guard drafts in years."
…
he’s 5’11, i think he could use 1 more year to get stronger but he has skills. he was the best player in the michigan squad and is one of the best freshman scoring guards in cbb, he right there with austin rivers, and brad beal in 15ppg, gets twice the amount of assist with 3.5rebs. he can, in some cases, be an underrated athlete. he’s gonna right there competing with teague, waiters, maybe even T. taylor for a spot late in the first round with teams that need a pg. imo he’s likely to go early second.

juves4783Participanti agree that this is a weak pg draft. a lot of teams are looking for pgs too. i have him being taken 30 by the bulls as a backup plan to rose (who’s been injury prone lately).

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantis he serious??? he needs work, i kno its a weak PG class, with Teague having the most potential, but come on what are these kids thinking

FastAndFuriousParticipantBad Bad Bad Bad Terrible move. He killed it this year for sure, but the NBA is a different level, he’s not explosive, can’t finish over the rim and is only 5’11, he def needed to go back.

Wahoo757Participant2nd round pick for sure. He definitely has talent, but the problem is his athletic profile. He’s only 5 11 and doesn’t have great strength or athleticism to compensate. I see him being a slightly better John Lucas.

HaleParticipantHe should come back just because Michigan will be damn good next year if he does.

Aran SmithKeymasterI agree with what you guys are saying…. Trey Burke is making a huge mistake if he really leaves. Unless playing in Europe for 80-100k is alright with him. He’s got first round talent, but not as a one-and-done…. Experience is so key for PGs, more than any other position to adjust to the NBA. There’s no learning on the fly playing against bigger, stronger and more athletic players with more experience. How does he ever see the floor?
The quality of the point guard class is completely irrelevant. Most teams are taking best player available. You have years with 8-9 PGs in first round (Collison, Holiday, Maynor, etc) and some with 2-3.
He’s getting bad info. Anybody know where Tommy Mason Griffin is playing now? (Ratiopharm, Germany, lower division Europe and he probably had more upside than Burke)

c’mon craigParticipantBurke’s freshman stats were very similar to TMGs and he went undrafted. The 2010 draft was also considered to have a weak pg class. I personally think TMG was better player during his time at OU but his team sucked(which was kind of surprising). Burke was the best player on a good team so im sure that helps his chances. Either way if he decides to go pro now I hope hes more fortunate that TMG come draft night.
s.n. hasnt ty lawson showed us that pgs under 6ft can succeed in the NBA?

FastAndFuriousParticipantTy Lawson has unreal speed and quickness and can explode to the rim with the best of them.
Burke not so much.

PAUL125Participantty lawson has amazing athleticism which made his transition to the nba much easier. Trey is not as nearly as athletic as Ty lawson is. Trey does have a good handle though, which could help him succeed in the nba and surprise a few people.
