I’ve heard some chatter that if the right team gets the first pick, there’s a chance Burke goes #1. Any thoughts?

Who would the “right team” be then?

Magic? Maybe, they need leadership and Nelson is not their future PG
Bobcats? No, they aren’t giving up on Kemba yet and really need scoring from the shooting guard.
Suns? I wish, but no. I don’t think they’re giving up on Marshall yet and they just gave Goran a godo sized contract. either and they really need every position on the floor.
Pistons? No, I still think there are people within that organization that believe Knight is their future PG, I would not be one of them though.
Cavs? Huge NO! Kyrie, enough said.
Hornets? Vazquez has earned his starting PG position and they have needs at the wing and depth.

i dont know man, if the pistons get the first overall pick i think theyll take a very deep look at him. i mean…the trade for calderon already showed that they believe knight is a better fit at the two position. a future of burke, knight, monroe, drummond is one to watch for

I think any team interested in PG would probably go with Smart, even if there’s question about him being a true 1.

The Hornets would actualy make alot of sense…Vasquez is one of the worst defenders in the league at PG posistion and dont let his numbers fool you,he’s a ball stopper on offense and even though Eric Gordon hasnt been healthy this year,Vasquez dosent know how to share the ball with him

Id actually be shocked if Vasquez if with the Hornets next year…He’s not a good fit for that team… Go on any Hornets bored and the majority of fans loathe Grevis Vasquez

if i were the magic, i’m gona be stuck with either taking him, a high risk injured in the same knee big man in noel, or a talented but passive shooting guard whose ball handling has a lot to be desired about in Mclemore. with orlando having a legit shot at the top pick, they can very well go with Burke.

currently i have Noel as their selection, but ive been going back and forth with that thought for a while.

If I am Orlando and get #1 I would really have a good hard look at him, but I think they take Smart. To me he will be staying in Michigan, he would be a great player for the Pistons to go with Monroe and Drummond.

A lot of you have to remember that Burke has looked really good because of how mediocre the college talent was this year. He was a great college player, I’m not trying to dispute that one bit, but there’s a reason for most of this season he was considered a mediocre NBA prospect. He wasn’t getting a whole lot of NBA hype until we got to the tournament and a lot of the major NBA prospects sputtered, and he put his team on his back.

Again, I’m not trying to be down on the guy, but he just doesn’t seem like a star caliber prospect at all.

He’d be the only 6 foot and shorter player to go first since Iverson back in 96 who was an athletic beast. If Orlando got first it is not totally out of the question, but would likely trade down a few spots knowing he would still be there.

There is no chance I would take him first but I could really see this being a great move for the Magic, I mean we all know that all bottom teams are going to tank for Wiggins or at least a Jabari Parker or Julius Randle for a consolation prize. So basically this non superstar draft is to get that stepping stone for setting up a roster for when Andrew Wiggins come to town, because to be elite team nowadays you need a pg that can penetrate and create offense so I could definitely see a team with Burke at point and Vucevic down low with wiggins on the wing

    Top 7-10? Possibly

    #1? No way

Burke is too small to get the #1 slot, Marcus Smart will be the first PG taken in the draft, I love Burke as a college player, but he’s going to have to make me a believer far as him being an NBA All-Star goes.

This is the Nba draft ,whenever a GM has to choose between a 7ft tall center and a 6ft tall PG ,I think it is always a safe bet that GMs will take the 7ft center ,I think we all know that trend after all this years
Honestly I think Noel is now the 1st overall pick with most if not all teams ,may be the Pistons would take a look at Mclmore but that’s it .This is Magic first year in rebuilding and while they have added some good young players ,non of them are really a future super star (or may be even all star) that makes a team fraft based on need
Pistons are the only team who have a good PF/C duo for the future that they can assume they will be both better than Noel

But not first overall. As of now. Workouts against other prospects will tell us more. That goes for everyone in this draft. No one dominated this year.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he went number 1. Skilled point guards are highly valued in drafts and Burke is currently the best PG in this draft. I think as long as he has the skills, his height won’t be much of an issue as he likely meets at least the average height of PG’s in the NBA. Not every good PG has to be taller than the average height at their position to succeed in the NBA. In a weak draft like this year I think he’ll definitely go top 5 if there’s a team in that top 5 that need a true PG (Marcus Smart not being such a one).

Indicative of how weak this draft is.

Why is it that when a player is playing well people overhype and have high expections for him? Burke has been playing well….But as the 1st pick in this draft ? Even to say he’s the number 1 pick in a draft as weak is this 1 is crazy…..I can see him going as high as 5….

They want a leader that will last ten year’s at the point more than any other team. They are loaded with young talent at every position except point.
