Lotto StudParticipantAs of now I rate Burke ahead of Marcus Smart as the #1 PG in this draft class, I also would like to make a case for him possibly becoming the #1 pick if a team such as Orlando lands the #1 overall.
What are your thoughts on Burke becoming the #1 pick?

220ParticipantI personally don’t see Burke going number one right now, but there is no clear cut number one. It all depends on who picks and how they rate the players available.

ph90702Trey Burke is definitely underrated. Guys with his intangibles rarely flop.

bjcart53ParticipantHe is good but CJ McCollum is best PG in college imo

ProudGrandpaParticipantCJ MCCollum COuldn’t even lead his team out of the Patriot League semifinals.

220ParticipantC.J. McCollum didn’t even play in the Patriot League tournament. McCollum was out with an injury since January.

GriffGCParticipantAt only 6 feet tall I doubt it

zKevoParticipantI dont think there is a chance really because im pretty sure that teams that need PG would take Marcus Smart before him , and not to mention MCW , CJ Mcullum.

Forte IVParticipantChris Paul, arguably the best pg in the nba right now, stands at only 6 foot. I’m not comparing the two, I’m just simply saying Burke’s height won’t hinder him from being discussed as a #1 pick possibility if Michigan were to win it all.

HadzialijagicParticipantMichigan fan here
I love Trey Burke but personally i dont think he is worthy of being the 1st pick. People try to compare him to Chris Paul but young Paul was much faster then Burke and his handle is a bit better too. Burke will be a solid player in the league he will be a starter for 10+ years maybe make an all star game or two but hes not the franchise player you take with the 1st pick.

rileymcshea3ParticipantI would not even take Trey Burke in the first round. When I look at a top 5 pick the first thing I look at is if the player makes the game look easy, and Burke simply doesn’t.Also he was a borderline top 10 pick before the tourney, and has slightly risen throughout the tournament and then shoots 5 for 16 vs Florida , and 1 for 8 against Syracuse and is now all of a sudden is getting looks at the number 1 spot? I’m sorry but I just don’t see it

IknoBall12ParticipantYou wouldn’t even take Burke at all in the 1st round huh? Yea us def fail as a GM. Running a franchise like the bobcats

HOops1562ParticipantI think he won’t be picked #1 but will be picked at least in the lottery or a bit later …. the tourney run has helped his stock a lot i don’t think he would be picked that high if Michigan had been bounced in the early part of the tournament

RafterParticipantLMAO at you bandwagoners, there were few posters on here that were high on him and quietly valued him as a surefire top ten pick. Now everybody rates him (deservedly so) but some of you are overrating him with this sudden number one pick chatter.

BigChamp12ParticipantI’m not gonna call anybody bandwagoners, but I remember two mths ago when I was saying if I was a GM that needed a point guard in the lottery, I wouldnt hesitate to take Trey Burke because he does exactly what i need my PG to do. There were a whole lot of posters saying he was too small, his blow by skills weren’t good enough, he wont be able to create for others and a bunch of other negatives about his game. Yes, yes, yes, the times have changed.

thartle8ParticipantHe’s a small, quick but not fast PG that likes to drive but doesn’t have the NBA body to do so yet. Marcus Smart and MCW are definitely more NBA-built players. While Burke could be a productive PG in the NBA, he doesn’t have any kind of super star potential like McLemore, Nerlens, Smart, or Shabazz have. Burke has proved it in the tourney by being shut down by the big guards of ‘Cuse and even Wolters in the first game. He’s just not fast enough, or strong enough to be anywhere near the top. Probably third or fourth PG on the board depending upon how NBA teams feel about McCollum’s age

cuseflynn10ParticipantI remember just a few months ago, getting negged for saying Trey Burke should be a lottery pick back when he was projected 22nd in a mock draft, and now you guys are saying potential #1 pick? I think he’ll go closer to 6-14 range, but it could come down to team need. Not many teams need to use a high pick on a PG so he could slip later in the lottery, but I don’t see him falling out of the lottery at this point.

r377Participant@ cuseflynn.
Soooo many sheep just follow Aran’s mock (we can all remember the Perry Jones, Harrison Barnes and Austin Rivers hype before they even stepped foot on college). I remember when he had Burke @ 22, there were so many haters posting against Burke.
I could never work it out – one of the best PG’s in the nation running one of the best teams in the nation I could never see how he could not have made the lottery especially in this weak class…..

sportspolymathParticipantIf Burke wins it all, it will be much like when Kemba Walker won it at UCONN. Many people said the same kind of stuff. After two years in the league, Walker is decent, but not a superstar. Ray Felton was also a point guard who hyped after winning a championship. How’s he doing?
To me Smart and Carter-Williams are 1-2

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantBecause one 14 yr old kid gives you a thumbs down does not mean that the entire population believes the same thing.

Meditated StatesParticipant1st pick I wouldn’t do that. I see some greater Pro value in a few other players. Burke is a smart passer and creator who will do it at the next level well. Wont score a ton but good enough.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/07/2013 - 10:09pm #761035
FastAndFuriousParticipantPeople are going to be eating their words, and disappointed when Burke doesn’t perform at the level yall expect him 2, he’s too small and just doesn’t have that burst, he reminds me of DJ Augustin to a tee, just not as quick, I really don’t see Burke being much more than a back up PG in the NBA.
