TRC1991ParticipantCould potentially be UNLV’s starting 5, this might be the first time since the 1966 Texas Western roster that was made famous in the film Glory Road that a team featured a starting lineup of transfers.
UNLV’s potential starting 5
PG – Deville Smith (Mississippi State)
SG – Jelan Kendrick (Ole Miss and Memphis)
SF – Bryce Jones (USC)
PF – Roscoe Smith (UCONN)
C – Khem Birch (Pittsburgh)Now, they could easily end up starting Savon Goodman at one of the wing spots, and Carlos Lopez-Sosa at center…But, right now this is a certain possibility

ph90702Savon Goodman is suspended for the season. Carlos Lopez-Sosa won’t beat out Khem Birch for a starting spot. I think the starting lineup will be the one you have listed above.

TRC1991ParticipantI apologize for the Savon Goodman error. That’s inexcusable

RUDEBOY_Participant1 guy you didn’t mention is freshman Kendall Smith, the coaching staff is excited about him..His play has been impressive during the summer and in practices…Most observers expect him to challenge Deville Smith for the starting pg spot…
Khem Birch will be their top frontcourt player and maybe their most important player…..He has to be among the most underrated players in the nation…Birch is a great defender, with UNLV losing 70% of its offense from last season and with so many new players coach Rice will expect more on the offensive end from Birch….
Jelan Kendricks is a talented player but troubled player,he lacks discipline both on & off the court…After stops in Memphis,Ole Miss and a jr. college, it’ll be interesting to see how much he’s matured..And will his mind be focused and dedicated to playing basketball?

ph90702Jelan Kendrick has been a model citizen so far. He’s been a good ambassador for the program and has helped in recruiting. Only time will tell to see how much he’s matured.
