Mr.BigShotParticipantThey need to try trade Ellis as Curry will be the future of the Warriors they need to acquire a big like Cousins, but please Don Nelson you don’t need another shooter, try to trade Monta with 76ers they could use him.

KahnJr.Participanta 3-team deal w/philly nd minny could definitley happen
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 5:34pm #325125

The8thDeadlySinParticipantYea.. The 6ers need him… They can add him to their list of SGs that include Louis Williams, Willie Green, and Allen Iverson.. They defiantly need another undersized SG that cant really shoot and is pretty greedy with the ball.. They need another greedy guard that is only going to hinder the development of Holiday… They could use him to replace Iverson’s personality….
No… They dont need him….

nateoak10ParticipantMonta should only be traded for CB4 or Iggy. Just cause Curry is the future doesnt mean he has to be traded, infact our team needs more slashers like him since we cant score in the paint without him. if you say he’s too small i challenge you too go back and watch our games and tell me he cant defend most 2’s. if he cant he forces them into turnovers, alse we didnt lose a single game due to the back court. we lost cause of lack of a front court. now if we get a full front court and still suck than something will be on the table but as of now lets says its unprobable
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 5:41pm #325130

The8thDeadlySinParticipantWhy cant Curry and Monta work together?? Their styles compliment each other… One is a great slasher, one is a great shooter.. Both are pretty heady… Only problem is that one needs to be the PG and primary ball handler… IMO, that needs to be Curry… Monta turns the ball over too much.. He needs to just get it across half court, at the end of an offensive set so that he can go and create… Go ahead and draft a SF like Johnson or someone, get Randolph and Bedrins healthy and see if that group can surge to the playoffs…
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 5:52pm #325135

ajthejuicemanParticipantthey both averaged the same amount of turnovers 3 to 3 and assists 5 to 5, i think curry just more popular thats y everyone says trade monta
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 5:53pm #325136

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThere Is no “D” in Monta or In Curry. 120-110 game still counts as losses. Ellis needs to be traded by the Warriors before his contract gets labeled as a bad contract. He has value now…. maybe not for long. One more adventure could send his stock tumbling. It’s just not good basketball to give up mismatches every game by having both guards undersized and neither a good defender.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 5:59pm #325141

The8thDeadlySinParticipantCurry’s turnovers come when he is trying to set up teammates… Ellis’ turnovers come because he is wild and out of control.. Monta has had a few games where he has been close to 10 TOs and its because he is just crazy out of control… Also, Nelson doesnt discipline or punish him for being like that.. He just lets him do what he wants..
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:06pm #325144

ajthejuicemanParticipantdidnt kno there was an excuse for turnovers there forwards cant score he the best player on th team he should try to takeover
monta was 2nd in the league in steals curry 4thhow is his contract bad 6th in scoring 2nd in steals
0- Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:13pm #325154

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantIt’s not bad yet…. but he’s undersized, he’s had a serious injury that happened doing something he was forbidded to do according to his contract. It didn’t help that he lied about how it happened afterward. Put that on top of the fact he dominates the ball and has a large contract for a player on a losing team. Typically in the NBA it ends up being to a bad contract. How much better is Monta than Ben Gordons?… Gordons contract is untradeable… about the same player/contracts in the same ball park.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantEllis may be the best 6th man in the L…he’s just playing out of position…I say they play like the Suns of old and play Curry,Defensive 2 that can hit 3’s.Athletic Marion Type(Wes Johnson or Aminu at 6)…Now they need an elite scorer at Pf and they have a Defensive center in Beidrins…With Ellis off the Bench but running major minutes with Curry ala Barbosa…Corey and the other young guys have to be offered up for the Forward of their dreams…an Amare type to dominate 4’s and 5’s…Maybe this trade would work…
Corey Maggete/Anthony Randolph and Anthony Morrow for Bosh/Amare/Boozer Thru. Sign and trade…Utah makes most sense they fill three spots SG/SF/PF…They can then draft BPA or get a backup Center…they add to the pay role but get younger and deeper after..Warriors wouldn’t want Boozer Though…Unless he signs for like 7 to 10 million and he plays the role of a Boris Diaw at PF,..that wouldn’t work for Warriors IMO…The Suns could also use the depth and Amare would thrive with Curry and Ellis…Both he want’s Max dollars in a big market..The Same goes for Bosh except he’d play home in Texas for the same money and better team…Next Plan would be to offer that same deal to teams with great F’s trying to clear cap….Or guys giving up on players….For Guys Like Jefferson/D.West/ who are not good fits…
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:16pm #325155

the I in winParticipant@ajthejuiceman, in a system where your team averages 120 ppg stats don’t mean anything. Sure he may have been 6th in scoring but if he was a slower team he wouldn’t have been top 10 in scoring.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:17pm #325156

ajthejuicemanParticipantcomparing monta with ben gordon is disrespectful ben gordon cant even go left
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:20pm #325158

The8thDeadlySinParticipantSo do you give yourself a point every time you post?? I mean come one man.. Use the shift key and throw a comma or a period in to separate your thoughts… It makes it easier to talk to you…
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:22pm #325159

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe fact that Gordon can’t go left doesn’t in any way make their comparison disrespectful. The disrespect would be toward Gordon based on both players past transgressions/injuries.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:24pm #325160

ajthejuicemanParticipantcmon man u can say the same about curry if he went to a different team would he have his stats you still got to play the game
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:29pm #325163

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe NBA is about winning games…. not compiling stats on team that doesn’t play def. It’s no different than comparing Jonny Flynns stats with Rondos…. they score the same points, does that make them equals? I would think not.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:34pm #325164

ajthejuicemanParticipantits not his fault they need inside scoring and a wing defender they can keep both i love their backcourt they actually feed off each other
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:39pm #325171

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantNobody was asessing blame to Monta Ellis. It was oppinion purely based on the players stature, contract status, and teams need to improve in the future based on current roster and style of basketball.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:42pm #325174

ajthejuicemanParticipanti feel ya i jus see a lot of trade monta on this site
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:44pm #325175
The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantSo either Wes or Aminu could be like him…Maybe Monroe could be like Diaw at Pf…I dont see a Amare like Guy in the draft and def not at 6th..
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:50pm #325179

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantA team has to manage their cap. If they don’t they become cash strapped for years with overpaid players that can’t win….for example Detroit last Summer signed Gordon and Charlie V. for a combined 80-90 million. They both underperformed their contract. Now they can’t trade those players for anything and on top of those 2, The pistons have a few other large contracts on players past their prime that have no value. Unless they hit a homerun with their draftpicks they will be ugly for a long time. Philly has similar problems with the contracts of Brand, Iggy and Dalembert.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 6:54pm #325184

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe way Wes Johnson “plays above the rim” and shoots from long range, It sounds like Ray Allen++.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 7:02pm #325192
The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantI don’t see Allen…He;’s a better shooting Marion type if he dedicates himself to filling a role and running and gunning…he can rebound well at the 3 and block shots with the Athleticism…more of a Marion Type IMO…Allen was a fluid offensive player…I wouldn’t call Wes fluid???
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 7:11pm #325197
nateoak10Participantyou really dont know what your talking about when it comes to ellis, ball dominant? hell no
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 7:12pm #325198

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantCheck out some of his youtube clips…. he’s plenty smooth, he can jump out of the gym and he shot 41% from beyond the arc. He’s still learning….
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 7:13pm #325199

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantOKAY…you got me……. I’M WRONG.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 7:16pm #325201

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantOH yeah I forgot to include he’s no good at bike riding either. Am I wrong about that also?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 7:32pm #325208
nateoak10Participantyou sound like you only watched one game of the guy, he is a natural OFF guard used by the COACH to play ON the ball. and as a natural scorer he will try to score. its pretty simple. thats like me ripping on daniel gibson and i have only seen him play once. trust me i have seen every w’s game since 06′. he is not ball dominant and not selfish for a 2
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 7:33pm #325207

burningfloodParticipantLol, Monta’s plenty good at riding ordinary bikes. It’s just mopeds that seem to scare him and turn him into a bad liar.
Anyway, I wouldn’t mind trading Monta if we got something good in return, ala Bosh or Iggy. We aren’t on Bosh’s list of teams, however, so that sign and trade’s not going to come our way…still Iggy would be great on the Warriors.
If we can’t get anything good in return, don’t trade him…I’d like to see how one year of Curry, Ellis, and a healthy frontcourt can do in the West. As for the Warriors’ draft, I think we should take one of the following:
1) Favors (if available)
2) Cousins (if available)
3) Johnson (if available)
4) Monroe (if available)
5) Aminu (probably available)If we want to take someone else, like Patrick Patterson (for whatever reason), it’d be smart to trade down. The teams after us don’t really need Patterson…he could fall all the way down to 11-15, so there’s no reason not to try to get something out of the 6th pick.
With new management coming in though, I doubt current ownership does anything drastic. That means that a Monta trade probably won’t happen anyway.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 7:37pm #325210

burningfloodParticipantThe knock against Monta as an off guard is that he can’t defend the bigger off guards. There were several games where he showed that he could, but statistically, the Warriors allowed fewer points in the games where Monta didn’t play than in the ones where he did. That could just be because Monta speeds up the pace of the game, but there is some truth to the fact that Monta slacks off on the defensive end. Still, it could also be because he had to handle a lot of the scoring load with so many injuries last year…bring back healthy bigs ala Randolph, Wright, Turiaf and Biedrins, and he might have more energy on the defensive end.
Nateoak, I’m just afraid that the 2007-2008 season, where Monta kicked ass as the off-guard was a fluke…he hasn’t returned near to that level since then, but it could again be because of the aforementioned reasons. Monta also needs to defer leadership to Curry and acknowledge that it’s Curry’s team…he doesn’t need to be the man.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 7:45pm #325215
nateoak10ParticipantIt’s not hard to imagine he will be slow in certain aspects of his game. More often than not he guards 2’s pretty well.
Since 07-08 he was injured and didn’t play until late in the year at about 60% than there was this year where Nellie decided to experiment with him on the ball. You forget the that in every other year of his career he was an extremely good off guard.
It depends on what you think is truly happening for him to defer, if Nellie continues to what he is doing it will be impossible for him to defer. Ultimately it’s Nelson’s choice for who initiates the offense and handles the ball, not Steph’s or Monta’s. Monta is quoted in saying he thinks Stef was the most improved player last year in the NBA since the start of the season and saying he preved me wrong and saying that he truly didnt mean what he said in camp and said it was a combination of frustration with the Jack stuff and the whole Amare thing.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 7:47pm #325217

midwestbbscoutParticipantif the warriors can use ellis as a piece to get cousins somehow they should by all means……but imo that goes for just about every team…..if they keep their pick they should either take monroe or al-farouq….who they are going to take is aminu or wes j. whoever the kings dont take…..
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 7:52pm #325219
The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantOr build the Team in the mold of the Suns….good luck finding the next Amare and Matrix…It sucks cause I liked the Warriors….
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 8:07pm #325224

burningfloodParticipantWasn’t 07-08 the year where the Warriors finished with the 48-34 season, with Monta having that one month where he shot about 60% from the field? And then 08-09 was when he got injured…Monta really came onto the scene in 06-07 and 07-08. I can see what you’re saying, though…he was injured in 08-09, and he was playing PG or trying to play PG for 09-10, so if he gets his head on right next season, he could possibly return to form. Until he does, however, I’m not sure I can trust in him being the Monta of the 07-08 season. Hell, I don’t even know if Monta was the product of having a healthy, motivated Baron Davis on the team; there are a lot of unanswered questions still.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 11:07pm #325270

ajthejuicemanParticipantcurry comes now monta is a problem didnt hear this any other time
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/01/2010 - 11:47pm #325272
Leftovers16Participantthey dug their own grave building around that run and gun style of Nelly… I mean if u want to run and gun get players like the Suns save up and go for big names stop being cheap and getting people off the D-League (not that there is anything wrong with that)… and i espcially love what NATEOAK10 said “he can force turnovers” “we didnt lose a single game due to the backcourt” how can u say ur style of ball is losing because u dont have size? thats like saying the Lakers lose because they have too many bigs and not enough guards… good luck getting bigs with run and gun style are u gonna leave them on the other side of the court like Shaq when he was with the Suns? when u run and gun obviously u go small but when u lose dont cry over the size its the style of ball ur playing thats not working not the players
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/02/2010 - 12:10am #325277

kobyzParticipantit almost for sure Johnson and Cousins will be gone buy #6 so what do you think Warriors should do? draft Monroe, Aminu, Patterson, Babbitt someone else? i personally think that if Johnson or Cousins gone they should trade the pick cause others prospects are not good fit or a reach at #6.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/02/2010 - 12:32am #325282
Leftovers16Participantif Nelly returns with that style then a slinder mobile big like a davis or patterson would fit ok, like i said even if u get a Monroe im sure he wont be going up and down the court with Curry and Ellis for 42+ mins which is what they need their big to do, but if they go back to regular style ball playing with toughness to rebuild your team then Monroe with Curry for the future is looking pretty good
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/02/2010 - 2:09am #325298

RichardNixonParticipantWhy would we trade our best player and have Stephen Curry take the reigns when he’s not a good a player and only 2 years younger.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/02/2010 - 2:11am #325299

RichardNixonParticipantNellie’s system is based on volume possession basketball. The point is to score quickly and force a lot of possessions. We need guys to create turnovers, steals and blocks. We played with 3 D-Leaguers last year. The system failed because we weren’t healthy.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/02/2010 - 2:17am #325301

RichardNixonParticipantMonta plays too many minutes. If Nellie cut it down to maybe 35 or so, he’d be a solid man defender. He dominated Brandon Roy. He’s got quick hands and he’s feisty.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/02/2010 - 3:43am #325315

RichardNixonParticipantWhy does he need to defer leadership? How is it Curry’s team? Curry’s not as good a player. He’s not more highly paid. In crunch time, it was Monta, Monta, and Monta. Monta’s the leader. Curry should be a good compliment and that only.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/02/2010 - 8:00am #325399
Mr.BigShotParticipantThe reason he’s on as highly paid he’s still on his rookie contract , Curry averaged more points and assist, in less minutes as a rookie.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/02/2010 - 9:08am #325424
Leftovers16Participantwe are all familiar with Nelly ball but no excuses *cough cough* Portland…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/02/2010 - 10:01am #325456
blkrome0ParticipantI think we really need Cousins in my opinion but if he and Wesley Johnson are gone, I would consider Donatas Motiejunas possibly over Aminu. I know he is suppose to be a Bargnani clone but I think he’d flourish in the Warriors system and develope into a good rebounder.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/02/2010 - 11:15am #325498

RichardNixonParticipantMonta averaged 26 PPG on 45% shooting. He was clearly the better player. Warrior’s management is just incompetent. They give Monta a huge deal , then the next year, they draft Curry and try to trade the guy they called the face of the franchise. Stupidity.
@Leftovers16 Meh. Having 3 D league players playing huge minutes doesn’t help. The system by designed is going to give up a lot of points, but create a lot of turnovers too.
