ZKParticipantHe can pay for his buy out with the money he gets in his sneaker deal if he is unable to get it lowered down.

Michael.S.Participantwhat about his huge buyout and what if memphis drafts him anyway he wont come

ZKParticipanthis buyout will very likely be lowered. If he doesnt want to play for Memphis but they take him anyway he will just pull an Eli Manning and refuse to play. But if he really doesnt want to be there I doubt they take him. That would be very negative p.a. and a huge embarrassment for the whole franchise.

juves4783Participant1. jrue holiday, brandon jennings and johnny flynn would have huge parties since each would move higher in the draft. if rubio pulls out, i think the top 3 gets a lot easier to predict. 1. griffen 2. thabeet 3. harden
2. i don’t think it’d be a big mistake. he’s a talent and will go top 5 regardless of how strong the draft class is. if anything, staying in europe would only make him better since he’s only 18.
3. i personally do not see him making a big splash his rookie year, so i really have no interest. i think it will take him a year to get used to the nba style of play.0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/30/2009 - 12:26pm #154496
ZKParticipantIt is his dream to play in the nba and he had a big press conference last season saying goodbye to his teammates. If he really does not want to be in Memphis they will take Thabeet or trade down to #4.

D HampParticipantI like Rubio, but the traditional soft European stigma continues to pop up in my head. What happens when he drives to the basket and Kenyon Martin slams him to the floor? Some players can’t take the physicality of the NBA.
D Hamp…the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.

bobbybParticipantYes there a lot of floppers but it doesnt mean they are not tough they are just trying to get calls like Lebron and Dwade. And you would not call them soft players. You should watch some of the olympic games to see there is a lot of tough play much rougher than nba

The8thDeadlySinParticipantThe only thing that will happen is the other PGs will get more love and Rubio’s stock will drop for the next time he trys to enter.

FaintingGoatParticipantI love how all of these people are basing their conception of Rubio not wanting to play in Memphis on an unconfirmed rumor they heard. Rubio has never stated either way and according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, an accredited investigative newspaper, Grizzlie GM Chris Wallace spoke to Rubio’s agent and his agent said Memphis is definitely not ruled out. Not saying events in the future won’t prove otherwise, just saying don’t be so negligent to believe the first bit of information (whether it be false or true) and take it as fact without looking into the matter.
