What would you do if You were the GM of the Suns?
Anyway, the Sixers need a scorer ,even an inefficient one who has underachieved since being picked 2nd overall...But they are certainly tired of Bynum and would off load him for the Cheaper less efficient Michael Beasley in a heart beat, and if the Suns training staff can work their magic who loses in this deal...The Sixers should be looking to trade every one besides Jrue Holiday anyway after the year they're having
Honestly, I'd be trying to bottom out, clear some cap room and try to make a deal for as many extra lottery picks as possible for next year's draft so they can have a crack at Wiggins. If you take Wiggins' enormous potential and combine it with the Suns' training staff, you could have a great foundation for the franchise.
Also, I'd be on the phone to Greg Oden as soon as the summer comes around, because if you really believe the hype about their medical staff, and they could get him healthy, he'd be an amazing (and cheap) piece for them. They could use next season to bring him off the bench to backup Gortat and get him acclimatised to the NBA game again, and if he's showing signs of good healthy, deal Gortat for a lottery pick (if possible) as part of the Wiggins plan.
There isn't a single player on the Suns that is untouchable. The problem with the Suns is they have a penny pinching owner. You will never have a championship team like that. They need to trade Gortat for some younger talent and start the rebuilding process.
It's no secret the Pelicans (Hornets) will probably be looking to move Gordon, but I don't think they'd want Gortat because he's too old for what they are trying to build.
If i was in their position, I'd look to draft two freshman and sit them on the bench next season. Endure a really tough 2014 season, and hopefully they can strike gold in next years draft lottery. And grab at least a top 3-5 pick in a "loaded" draft class. They would have a nice group of young players. But then again I'm no GM haha.
I'd keep the throwback uniforms permanently
Or at least come up with a similar modern alternate.
@Jordo, I've been saying the same thing about going back to those throwbacks permanently but I think they should put a respectable product on the floor first. Suns first need to hope the Lakers don't make the playoffs so they get two lotto picks. Lets be honest Lakers aren't going to be this bad next year so we can't count on that pick if they do make the playoffs. 2nd Suns need to tank and get as high as a pick as possible this year. Having two lotto picks in this year draft does't mean they'll be improved so they can be back in it next year to get a stud. Suns need to rebuild through draft and can't afford to miss on players like they did with Morris Clark and Lopez. Also having Frye back would make Gortat more expendable so get some young talent or draft pick for him.
I would hate to be a Suns fan right now. They are really bad, plus they have no young players to say they can build around to have hope for the future. They have a clueless front office with no real plan (Beasley? Signing Dragic after drafting Marshall?). They have no assets except Gortat and MAYBE Dragic that any team would trade more than a 2nd round pick for. Eric Gordon? No way NO trades him unless they get another star or several high picks in return.
They just better hope the ping pong balls fall their way the next two summers. No free agent would sign w/PHX unless they majorly overpay, but even then the cupboard is so bare they might not want to come.
well if the Lakers miss the playoffs this year they do have two lottery picks this year(one in the top 5).If they can get Shab and another young talent with their other pick that's about it.Their contract situation is horrible(Dragic has a 3 year deal with a player option for a 4th year,Frye has a 2 year deal with a player option for a third and Beasley has a 3 year deal). And as we all saw during the trade deadline that just passed teams are afraid to pull the trigger for a trade because of the new CBA so i can't see them doing any major moves.Maybe teams will be interested in Gortat's and Brown's expiring deals next season for a playoff push but that's about it i guess. But if they can get Shab and be lucky enough to land Wiggins(or Parker) next year then they could be on to something
Trade everything for picks and prospects with talent that have not been given an oppurtunity. Look at what Orlando is doing for instance the JJ Redick trade was amazing, acquiring Harkless was amazing these are very underrated moves that make a rebuilding process so much quicker. Trade everything for prospects, and while developing those prospects bottom out in the standings and aim for Wiggins, Parker and whoever may threaten to compete with those two for the number 1 spot in the 2014 draft.
I would try for that gortat for gordan deal. if that works then i think Dragic should go instead of marshall. Marshall is a pass first pg who can distribute well if you remember back to the NCAA. they would then need a center but with the pick they will have in the draft. Noels, Len, or even to a stretch zeller. but with noels injury and len i dont seeing going past top 8 then can trade down and get added picks or pieces that would compliment marshall and Gordon.
and worse case if u cant get gordon. Smart or Shabazz will be good picks for the suns as well. and then tank next year and get wiggins or parker. if that would happen, this of a starting 5 like
PG- Marshall
SG- Parker (or Smart)
SF- Shabazz (or Wiggins)
PF- Beasley
C- Gortat
they would be young and will be a team to fear.. and then if they get gordon
PG- Marshall
SG- Gordon
SF- Shabazz (or Wiggins)
PF- Beasley
C- Noels or Len

As a long distance fan of this franchise's players and team history I thought to myself "How can you fix The Suns after a year like this"... I think the team's best assets are its location and training staff, they have also had their fair share of stars as well.
So why not look for a Star in need of good health and even better physical training? Andrew Bynum and Eric Gordon come to mind. A guy would think a Gordon for Gortat deal is very possible with the Hornets/Pelicans needing a starting Center to pair with Anthony Davis right? They also drafted a Sg in Austin Rivers who they could use in place of Eric Gordon, and I would also think Kendall Marshall would be a perfect piece to sweeten the deal.
Gortat's departure would open up the possibility of signing Andrew Bynum, all the Suns would have to do is trade away Beasley for Bynum in a sign and trade and draft a Sf to replace the Beasknees in the lineup, could also sign a guy like Chase Budinger to shoot the three ball...
Anyway these are just a few ideas I had to turn this team around in a year or two....
