Where would have these players went to college?
Kobe may have played for an A 10 school like Temple when Coach Chaney was around, but I also think he would have played for UCLA... Lebron would have likely choose to play at Ohio State, Garrett may have chosen Marquette or Georgetown, Chandler would have stayed in the Pac 10...
I think LeBron would've went to duke due to his respect of coach K or Ohio state, maybe even Akron. Most of the other guys except a few weren't smart enough to go to a prestigious school as al they focused on was basketball
I'm not going to try and guess all but I know Amare was suppose to go Memphis before he decided to go pro. I think Kobe would have went to Duke. I remember him saying that in an interview before. I agree with the poster above me and think Lebron would have went to Ohio State. I think KG would have went Georgetown or Kentucky. I think Tmac would have went to UNC. Chandler would have went to UCLA and I think Dwight would have went to Georgia Tech.
Some of the guys committed before declaring for the NBA
Kobe- Duke
TMac- Kentucky
KG- DePaul
Jonathan Bender- Mississippi St
Darius Miles- St John's
DeShawn Stevenson- Kansas
Tyson Chandler- UCLA
Eddy Curry- DePaul
Amare- Memphis
Kendrick Perkins- Memphis
Dwight Howard- Georgia Tech
Kwame committed to Florida
JO had his mind set on declaring out of HS. South Carolina was the school his name was linked to.
Mississippi St lost out on a lot of preps to pros kids. Off the top of my head: Bender, Monta and Travis Outlaw committed there.
Other names:
Shaun Livingston- Duke
Shawn Kemp- Kentucky
JR Smith- UNC
Gerald Green- OK St
CJ Miles- Texas
Lou Williams- Georgia
Andray Blatche- Syracuse
Amir Johnson- Louisville
Bassy Telfair- Louisville
Martell Webster- Washington
Dorell Wright- DePaul
Al Jefferson- Arkansas
Ndi Ebi- Arizona
Andrew Bynum-UConn
Josh Smith- Indiana
KG was Michigans from what i remember,
Siggy- with you except on those picks Depaul , If i remember R.Fields was going to Depaul preinjury is that why you linked KG ?Curry and D.Wright too?
I wouldve said USC for Chandler tho but saying that Lavin (assuming he was coaching at the time) wouldve been all over him
KG and Ronnie did want to team up and if they did, it would've been at DePaul. I remember the Michigan rumors too. But I also remember in a later interview that had he gone to college, he would've chosen Maryland.
I know for a fact that Curry and Dorell Wright committed to DePaul. DePaul hasn't been relevant for a while, but there was a short period in the late 90s early 2000s where they were getting almost everyone from the Chicago area: Q.Rich, Bobby Simmons, Lance Williams, Steven Hunter, Paul McPherson, Andre Brown, Imari Sawyer, etc. They got a ton of talent but nothing really came of it because the coaching sucked. Curry was supposed to be in one of those classes.
Kobe Bryant: Duke
Lebron James: Ohio state

Jermaine O'Neal: ? Man I can't even guess
Tracy McGrady: ? Maybe UNC
Al Harrington: ? Maybe duke
Rashard Lewis: Texas
Jonathan Bender? Can't guess
Darius Miles: st.johns
Deshawn Stevenson: Kansas
Kwame Brown: Florida
Tyson Chandler: ? Maybe UCLA
Eddy Curry: DePaul
Amare Stoudemire: Memphis
Kendrick Perkins: Memphis
Dwight Howard: ? He said he always knew he wanted to go to go straight to ye nba
Lenny Cooke: st John's

The one I would change would be Darius Miles to St. John's, had forgotten he had committed to Mike Jarvis before entering the draft.
Guess it makes sense, considering his transfer to Chicago's Farragut and the fact he might have wanted to play with Ronnie Fields. That kills DePaul even more, geez, they missed out on a lot of local talent that went straight to the pro's. Still, the school I remember KG being interested in was Michigan. Chris Webber was his favorite player and he wanted to follow in his footsteps.

There is a picture of KG in a Michigan T shirt when he was in HS. I think Michigan would have been a lock. I also remember Amare and Memphis were real close.
"Mississippi St lost out on a lot of preps to pros kids. Off the top of my head: Bender, Monta and Travis Outlaw committed there."
Funny you mention Monta and Outlaw, siggy. I live 30 minutes from Starkville so all my friends are State fans/go to State, and they HATE those 2 lol. I don't know about Monta's situation, but Outlaw somehow received money from the school after he committed, then decided to enter the NBA instead. They're still pissed at him lol
Kobe Bryant- I remember him saying he would've went to Duke. He did play AAU with VC, maybe UNC had a shot?
Lebron James- Highly doubt he ever considered, on the account he tried to enter after his junior year of HS. Maybe Akron for conversations sake
Kevin Garnett - His top 3 were Michigan, South Carolina and UNC
Jermaine O'Neal - Kentucky or UNC. Maryland was in the picture I think
Tracy McGrady- UNC
Al Harrington - Top choices were St. Johns or Georgia Tech
Rashard Lewis - Top choices were Florida St. or Kansas
Jonathan Bender- MSU
Darius Miles- St. Johns
Deshawn Stevenson- Kansas
Kwame Brown- Florida
Tyson Chandler - verbal to Cal
Eddy Curry- DePaul
Amare Stoudemire- Memphis
Kendrick Perkins- Memphis
Dwight Howard - I'd guess UNC, took his one and only visit to Chapel Hill early senior year
Lenny Cooke - Was he seriously recruited? I don't think anyone believed he'd qualify..
