Who here plays/played ball for a team?
high school ball. Then the genes failed me I only grew to a 6'0 shooting gaurd. I averaged 21 ppg in high school. But my team was &$#%#&@!!Q
I used to play SF at Glen Cove... we made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs my senior year.
I played more as a junior though but we lost in the 1st round. I tore some ligaments in my ankle exactly on labor day, like 3 days before the start of my senior year. I was on crutches for two months and finished physical therapy right during the start of the regular season... I wasn't the same. I wish I had several more months.
To this day my ankle makes a cracking sound when I move it.
I played intermurals at college too.
I still go to shoot around... shot may be even better now.
BTW, I knew some guys from Christ the King... one of my best childhood friends (I grew up in Queens) actually went there but didn't ball.
Anyway the guys at Christ the King are huge and are very athletic. You need to be really good to play there.
The girl team is usually nationally ranked too lol
Rice, Christ the King, St.Rays, they eat sleep breath bball, i dont think they have any other teams maybe baseball and track, but from september to june its all bball and that gives them a huge edge
I played at J.R. Reid's high school in Virginia Beach the season after he left. That's when he and Terry Mills were recently the top 2 players in high school basketball. Reid was not completely ideal for the NBA game of the early 90's, but on the college level he was a mix of Kevin McHale and Charles Barkley, if anybody remembers--(especially his sophomore season).
I also played high school ball in North Carolina. Faced a few Div. I-caiber players here or there. As far as pickup or basketball camp games, Reid and Hubert Davis were the only NBA players I ever shared the court with. I DID watch televison with Alonzo Mourning at a camp once when he was 15 or 16. Stood 3 feet away from Len Bias a year before he passed, if that matters to anybody. Okay I'll shut up.
only a 20 point scorer because of ALEX JENSEN. If anybody remebers him. We only lost 4 games in 3 years. Jensen went on to play with the universiy of utah and held vince carter to his lowest point total of the season in the final four. We had kentucky on the ropes until jeff sheppard decided to make 3 after 3.(Jensen played many summer league games with houston, but he ruined his professional career by going on a mormom mission). Still he sold me allot of pot.
As much as I love the sport and as much as I've played it (a lot), my last experience on an organized team was in grade school. I set a record that will never ever, EVER be broken. Actually I'm tied for the record. I scored the least amount of points for anyone that has ever scored in an organized basketball career. One point! I was fouled while shooting in garbage time when the coach felt it was safe to put me in the game. Made the first free throw, and threw up an airball on the second attempt. Never scored again in my limited playing time So my career wasn't exactly Jordanesque, but at least no one can beat my record!
I seen him saving a local kid from a fire today on the local news wearing an orlando magic sweatshirt, he played 20 or so games for the magic. started a few games. I played some games with him, that is terrible he is saving people now rather than making the utah flash now. (he will be on a dleague team this year) just kidding he is one hell of a player. MWC player of the year.
Sad to say but my only big time experience playing Organized ball was when I was 13/14, when I played for the rep team of my city of about 350 thousand. I just hit a big Growth Spurt and was 5'6" 195 with a 29 inch vertical and a 5'11 1/2" wingspan. I played power forward for 2 years but stopped actually growing and tried to play a guard position. I failed miserably as a guard as I couldn't dribble or shoot outside of 12 feet. Haven't played any more Basketball since Sophomore year of highschool. haha, Since then I became a ranked u-18 tennis player in Ontario. Highest rank was 86th in the Province u-18 when I was 16.
not that it matters, but i was actually a baseball player at the University of Hawaii. pops played for the San Diego Padres so it was natural that i played baseball even though basketball was always my fave sport. was expecting to be a pro as well before that dang rotator cuff injury. i always wanted to focus on hoops but i had so many advantages in baseball that i just couldnt do it. i had the attributes too and i still play. 6'3 (barefoot, so if i was in the draft i'd be 6'5 i guess. lol), can run and jump, handle, pass, shoot...but i got no fundamentals. i just see stuff on TV and incorporate it into my game. lol...i guess i'm a shorter Gerald Green!...btw, i like the topic. its interesting to learn about you guys.
i played ball for my high school, graduated 2007. played in the 1st team. started a few games. i was actually 5'10 then (grew an inch since then) but since I come from a country where 6'5 is tall enough to be a center in the pro-league, I played the 3/4 back in high school (even today actually). It's been a long time since I've last played organized basketball. I'm in a University now but since i'm pretty short to play the 3/4 in the bigger leagues, I have to settle playing for school orgs, but that's not organized basketball.
I went up against some pretty good guys like TChandler, TPrince, GArenas, and a few other pros. A couple of my teammates went pro in eroupe. I have always loved baskeketball.
my jv team plays against scanlan, mikenike
On my club team I played for last year I averaged 16, 6 and 6 with a season high of 32. I am a three point monster and made 8 threes during my 32 point game and 4 per the season. This season though I fractured my femur in my left leg and strained ligaments in my right foot so I was ridin the bench, coming off as a three point specialist, or injury foul shooter, etc. My dad was all- sec for baseball at Kentucky so maybe I should just stick to that!
i play freshman ball for Regis
haha how u guys do against us?
I was the 2nd leading scorer for my AAU team...
yeh were in a
I played organized ball from the ages 10-17, played rep ball when I was 11, but did not play in middle school and my high school I went to did not have a basketball team. See, I am maybe about 5'8, maybe 5'9, with probably a little longer arms than my height. I could palm a regulation ball, I say since 7th grade, but it probably took me maybe til 9th. Plus, my hands are not huge, I usually just say they are strong, and for some reason I can palm a basketball fairly well, I say because I play as much as I have. I have practiced basketball religiously and would spend hours shooting in the drive way, and by the time I was in 6th grade I was pretty much money from anywhere around 15 feet.
While I have practiced a lot and continue to do so, I would not say I am anything spectacular. I love playing basketball and try to do so when I have a chance to, and while I still practice by myself quite a bit, I have the most fun playing against my friends or people my age. I live next to a college and usually play over there, have yet to play with anyone on their team, but they are D3 and while they are not bad, I would not at all be averse to playing them. My strengths are being strong, I am never afraid to go after the ball as I am sure some of you experience people who are if you have played basketball and my shot. I am lefty too, work a lot on my right hand and have a decent handle, though again nothing spectacular. I have worked on my defense a lot and have quick hands and know how to move my feet on D, always make sure to put a hand in the face and challenge a shooter. Unfortunately, I am not fast and my conditioning is absolutely awful, and while I would like to think I can jump alright, I do not at all have sick hops. I was thinking of maybe doing a youtube video of me shooting or playing ball, but who knows when I will. I am very competitive and love playing ball, and I have coached quite a bit and volunteered at a Blazers camp last year. I also coached at a basketball camp when I lived in Toronto, and I made some kids run laps when I made a three pointer sitting on the ground. So, while the last time I played for a team that you had to try out for was when I was 11, I would like to think that I could hold my own when need be.
Yeah, AAU is where all those pro prosepcts join up, like that one team that Conley, McRoberts, Cook and Oden.

any1 live in bonx,ny i ply ball for a division A h.s.
