cuseflynn10ParticipantI know this has been talked about before, but why didn’t this happen pre-lockout?
Iggy for Ellis straight up?
Golden State can have Curry and Thompson who are both deadly shooters, along with Iggy who is a great driver as their PG, SG, and SF. Curry, Thompson, Igoudala, Lee, and Udoh is solid, but with another draft and better bigs, this team can be a threat.
Philly can let Evan Turner start as a SF and they get Ellis who is 2 years younger then Igoudala, but Ellis can take on more of the scoring load. Philly needs a consistent go to guy. They can build around Ellis. Holiday, Williams, Meeks, Turner, Evans, Ellis, Young, Vucevic, and maybe even Speights, I think this team can develop into a real contender with the Heat and Knicks in the future.
Obviously there is a lockout and this trade will have to wait, but it benefits both teams long term I feel. Iggy is the player that can do a little of everything and is a great defender. He is better off as the 2nd scoring option on the team I think. In GS he can be that. And for the 76ers, they get younger and get that go to guy they need, and they let their 2010 #2 overall pick start.
Win-Win?

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantPhiladelphia is trying to get rid of Iguodala because he takes up much of the scoring load on that 76ers team and it’s going to stop Evan Turner from growing. The last thing they want is another guy who’s going to average 20+ppg

Tobe BryantParticipantSoooooooo…the Sixers are gonna struggle until Evan Turner finally gets it all clicking, instead of going with youth and scoring in Monta Ellis and making Turner his compliment. Turner isn’t ready for the big time as the #1 option on the Sixers roster. And maybe never will be! I do believe that getting Ellis will be a knock to Lou Williams, who is another undersized scorer.

ilike.panochasParticipantNot sure what you meant, but did you say having a legit 20PPG for the Sixers hinders their team? They have no go to guy, Turner is not a #1 option and never will be, Iguadala was a non factor offensively against the Heat in the playoffs, Holiday already has his handful trying to develop his PG skills, Monta Ellis would greatly unload the preasure on these young players. Believe it or not, Curry has benefited playing with a player like Ellis. I’m a Warriors fan and I watches this team almost every game. By the way, Monta is a very efficient 24PPG scorer, the guy shoots at a respectable %, and is a multi-dimensional scorer, he is able to theive in either fast pace offense, or half-court sets because his mid-range game is one of the best to go along with his speed and athleticism. Severly underrated this guy is, and trading him for Iguadala would be a steal for the Sixers, Iguadala is not on Ellis’ level.

NYK2010ParticipantWrong Iggy isn’t a great scorer and its his contract they want to move.
I wouldn’t pass on a player of Ellis’s talent just so Evan Turner could take more shots.
Brand and Iggy aren’t superstar scorers and Philly needs one.

NYK2010ParticipantBobby the Nets don’t have anything to trade for Iggy except Deron or Lopez.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantMaybe you guys misunderstood me. Having Monta Ellis hinders Evan Turner, Lou Williams, Jrue Holiday, and Thaddeus Young from growing.
If Andre is traded for a big man to take the place of Hawes or Brand, then Turner can play his natural position at SG. Jrue Holiday can continue to start at PG. Thaddeus Young can be their small forward of the future. And Lou Williams can be their 1/2 combo spark off the bench. If Monta is in, Young goes back to playing out of position, Turner plays SF, Lou Williams completely disappears.
The reason they do not want Andre Iguodala on that team is because they want to be able to play Evan Turner at his natural position of SG. Adding Monta Ellis will not solve this problem.
The same guys calling Evan Turner the next Brandon Roy are the same people now doubting him and saying he’s not going to be a good scorer in the league. It’s only been his rookie year, there are plenty of big name players that struggled their rookie years.

HitsterParticipantIggy would be a nice fit for the Nets and even if they traded their first rounder to Utah this year, they still own all their future picks so could offer up future picks as they are way under cap for the coming season.

M-DYMESParticipantThe reason we would move Iggy is to allow the team to enter a new era with Turner as the starting SG/SF while attaining either a legit starting center or a high caliber player who can shoot the rock and get buckets. Really ever since Iverson left, this team has lacked a primary scorer who can really shoot the ball. Iggy is a great slasher but average shooter at best.
I think Ellis would have been a nice pickup in exchange, but part of me feels the reason the organization did not act on it was b/c they felt if we had an undersized 2 guard of Iverson’s capabilities and never took home a championship, are we really going to succeed with Monte Ellis?
Because of that, I think the Sixers are looking for a center in exchange for A.I. or a deal that also includes moving Elton Brand while still recieving compensation for his capabilities as a player, spite is contract.
