who would you start at PG
I would choose Jason Kidd. A point guard who does plays like Kidd does not need to score much. Kidd used to get Triple doubles and he can defend. I would love Pistol pete at the two guard spot. Kidd to me would be the perfect point to run a team if i was starting out. Steve Nash is not bad either but at 25 26 he was just starting to get good and he can not defend so Pistol Pete would overtake him but I like Kidd.
Maravich if i didn't have a legit post presence, Stockton if i had a good post
Baller03 go kill yourself if you take Paul out of all those players, U must have never seen or heard of Pete, or even remember how dominate Stockton was on D, Or how kidd was a scorer in his younger days.
Thanks for showing the forum u know nothing.
Stockton
Kidd
Paul
Nash
Parker
Maravich
I don't care what you say, but Pistol was the biggest chucker and shot a bad percentage. Because of this his teams never went anywhere.
just putting something out there.... i always want winners on my team so i'd take t. parker. i can understand the j stockton choice but lets be honest if magic's career wasn't cut short he wouldn't be the assist leader and as well stockton / pete aren't able to guard the more score first point guards that the nba has moved towards.
in order:
1. t. parker (only one to win a title)
2. c. paul (will go down as one of the best pg to ever play)
3. j. stockton
4. j. kidd
5. p. pete ( great scorer/entertainer but not a winner = great fantasy player)
I'm taking Paul. The potential is off the charts. Pistol was more of a scorer to me than a point. He did some nice tricks with the ball and had some trick passes but I don't see him as a point that runs the O the way the coach needs it done. I like Kidd a close second. In his prime his D was elite. Not that Stockton was a bad defender yes he got a lot of steals but he gambled. Stockton did not shut his man down keep him out the lane like a Kidd or Paul.
Ok, my screen name gave my choice away. I admit I am prejudiced, but gotta go with Pistol Pete. He was so far ahead of his time. Had the best combo of shooting and passing of any player to ever play the game. Bar none! He would have thrived in an uptempo game with a 3 point line. Since this is hypothetical, D'antoni is my coach. My team would score 140/game and Maravich would be the 1st choice in all fantasy leagues.......team would be most exciting in world, and yes, it would win!
I'm assuming many on this site are too young to have really seen him play. I saw him, and I'm not talking on short internet clips. Man had skills not seen before or since!
Why did you pick only these players? There are many others that should be considered.
Cousy, O, Frazier, Magic, Isiah? I'd pick any of them over the other players.
If you cannot keep the other teams point guard out of the lane your team will lose. The point will score a lot if he finishes well,if he has shooters they will be open, when people come to help, the center and PF get bangs. The team will lose. I agree Cousy has got to be somewhere on that list too. He was a beast. Thomas too, because most of the guys on this list could not guard Thomas.
Maravich was not a very good defensive player. You are correct. He was 6'5 though and had the ability to be an average defender. The team around would have to help on defense. He would simply have to be surrounded by the right players. Nash doesn't exactly play stellar D either. At least Maravich had a bigger frame to work with than all on the list except Kidd who couldn't match Maravich on offense at all. Pistol Pete would also play off-guard which none of the others on the list could.
The Guy Thats Not On The Least But My Fav point Guard and i will let Start Is Bob Cousy.......This Guy is one of the best point guard and A Very Entertaining guy to watch.....but from the least i would choose Pistol Pete he is a great passer and even better scorer
Cousy is before my time. I'm not in any way challenging him as a player. His contributions to NBA and Celtic dynasy are unquestionable. I just wonder if his athletisism would allow him to compete in the modern era.
Those saying Maravich are doing so based on hype more than anything. Look at his track record before you start to talk. Besides, he was more of a shooting guard anyway.
Paul is the answer here. None of the other guys would have been capable of what he's done the last two years.

if you had a choice at pg, and each of these canidates were the same age, let's roughly say 25-26 ( hypothetically). Out of the canidates below, who would you take to start at pg?
stockton, maravich, kidd, nash, parker, paul.
My choice is stockton.
