Whom ever ends up with DeAndre Jordan, wether it be GS or the Clippers, will be paying him quite a bit of cash. Is he really worth $10.5 mil a year?
Hell no he is not. I would understand A couple years from now him getting better playing good. But as of right now hell no.
I would give him 6.5-7
It's just hard for me to believe Deandre Jordan would want to leave LA. He's in such an amazing situation right now. He's playing alongside Blake Griffin, EG, and if the CP3 deal goes through, look out. Also, why would he want to jump ship to a different team in the SAME DIVISION, knowing you're gonna have to contend w/ The Clips on multiple occasions? It's baffling. Is he in it for a huge payday, or does he want to contend for a chip in the near future?
Centers always get overpaid because there are so few quality ones. Tyson Chandler did DeAndre Jordan a favor too, in my opinion. People saw how a defensive center can make a big impact on a championship team and with Chandler off the market, Jordan is the next best thing if you are wanting to add a defensive 7 footer to your front court.
But does Deandre ANCHOR an entire team like Tyson or KG did? If I'm gonna overpay a center, I'm making sure he has THAT quality. anyone can average 10-10 and 1.5 blocks. Ask Brendan Haywood in his Washington days.
*Any decent center can average..
"any decent center can average 10-10 and 1.5blks"
I think DeAndre's position in L.A. is deeper than stats. Its chemistry and how he fits with the team's style of ball going forward. I would like to see him stay with the Clips. I think he would be better with them. The problem is GSW raised the stakes on a player that the Clips would like to have around for a few more years because of the vision they have moving forward. If you are talking stats, yes he will be overpaid. I dont think stats are the only thing that figure into this particular equation however.
does haywood lol? I know you said any center can average 10-10-1.5........
didnt he sign like a 6 yr -55 milllion dollar contract a few yrs back?
rSharpe, no he doesn't, but Tyson threw him an unintention assist with his stellar play down the stretch last season.
I'm sure GM's saw his play and think, well we could mold DeAndre Jordan in to that type of impact player. Tyson Chandler wasn't half the player he is now 2 or 3 years into his career. That and the fact that there aren't a high number of quality center prospects coming into the league every year, all centers get overpaid once they hit free agency...Jim McIlvaine, Olawakandi, Bison Dele, and a lot of others, all had pretty average years before hitting the market and being 7 foot tall, under 30 and above average means teams will throw money at you
Microwave : Look at Haywood's stats from his 2009-2010 campaign w/ Wash. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/haywobr01.html
Wolf: This is true. But if any team wants to mold DJ to an impactful defensive anchor, I truly doubt it's gonna be the Warriors front office. Their history of lack-of-D just tells me it's not gonna happen that way. But I could be wrong.
yea rsharpe i know he put up decent #'s.. i just took your statement as if you were saying "low salary guys like haywood, can produce 10-10-1.5, where in fact hes a high salary guy)...i think i just misunderstood what you were implying.. Nonetheless neither of them are worth the $ they are / and will be getting.
Can you put a price on keeping Blake griffin happy? lol. It is a high offer and he needs to learn how not foul to stay on the floor. He is capable I believe in mostly earning his contract as long as it is with the Clippers. He has an established role on that team and he and Blake know how to play together.
you said it Joe... If he stays out of foul trouble and can stay on the court.. assuming so, he will keep Blake happy-
Jordan made up for alot of Griffin's defensive shortcomings. Griffin is not by any means a ferocious or even motivated defender at this point, so having an eraser like Jordan helps hide your star player's liabilities and keeps him happy. 10 mil per? Clippers might not want to, but they probably need to.
I dont give a damn how much the Warriors are willing to pay Jordan, as long as I dont have to see Beidrins play for the Warriors again.
What are my Warriors doing, lol. Not gonna amnesty Beidrins, and offering a terrible contract like this. I hope thatt the only reason they are doing this is to drive the Clippers to overpay, cause they know that they will match.
