T-Wolvesfan13ParticipantWhy are the Nets trying to get Melo so bad? He has made it pretty clear that he only wants to go to New York. Why are they trading away there future for half a season with a superstar? I mean thats like me trading my girlfriend and every other girl i will ever be with for one night of glory with Jessica Biel! I mean it would be one awesome night that i would get to brag about for the rest of my life! But after that night were would it leave me? One great memory with a life time of crap after!

Lotto StudParticipantI do not want Melo @ all we will end up giving too much away for him. I believe there is a chance if he is packaged with another Superstar he may want to stay.

RUDEBOY_Participantmelo said he wants to be near his wife la la…but she’s an aspiring actress and she is never home and neither is he…
plus the nets are talking about including devin harris in the deal…and their backcourt is already weak….

paint intruderParticipantThey failed to get a real star after making so much noise in the offseason. Now they feel forced to do SOMETHING, even if it means to give up on a young player with great potential and a good point guard. That’s pathetic to me.

DowJonezBFGParticipantthe nets have so many draft picks and young talented guys at this point that there future looks bright. the nets/melo talk is pretty annoying tho, persistent bunch those guys… (words from a NY guy -shrug-)

SteroidParticipantThe nets will be better off rebuilding over getting Carmelo especially if they aren’t going to add another superstar and trading all of their future. If they could get Chris Paul in the near future then this would make more sense. This would be a good deal for Denver though. haha

Lotto StudParticipantI know we are not a better team than N.O., but we have pieces in Jersey that will be helpful for CP3 in Favors & Lopez. We also are almost a lock for the #1 overall if the ball bounces right and if we get a guy like Perry Jones, we will be UPGRADED in a major way. Frontcourt Jones-Favors-Lopez, very young but it will do for me.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantI think they would be better if the kept Favors and Lopez together, resign Troy Murphy with the MLE, draft the best wing player with their pick and then convince Carmelo that the Nets are the team to join in free agency. Hard to pass on a team with Paul as your sidekick, Favors/Lopez as your frontcourt of the future, Another top prospect from this draft, guys with experience in Murphy, Farmar and Outlaw that add bench depth, Humphrey and Damion James plus their future picks to move for a shooting guard like Mayo, JR, Rudy etc etc etc…

Malik-UniversalParticipantthe nets dont ABSOULTEY need to get a superstar this season… if getting melo takes trading young talent, and we all know melo is most likely not gnna resign with the nets if he would get traded there, makes no sense.

Lotto StudParticipantMelo shouldn’t mind going to the Nets if he can’t get the deal to the Knicks. He will be in Brooklyn and last time I checked that is a city in New York.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantAnd the Nets need a Sg badly. I think a deal involving Humpries, Damion James and a few future 1st rounders plus Anthony Morrow for Mayo and Sam Young would be good for both teams. The grizzlies get some depth and draft picks for a guy who wants out of Memphis. The Nets turn those draft picks next year, Humpries, James and Morrow into Mayo who can be a Kerry Kittles type to run with Paul and Melo. Harris and the net’s multiple Picks in the First round can be a tempting offer for the Hornets to consider. The bigger picture is clear. Paul wants out. Why not get a replacement point guard and 2 or 3 first round picks for a guy who wants out. Harris and 2 first rounders in this draft plus a guy like Morrow and 1st round pick in 2012 would have to be enough for the Hornets to part ways with CP3. If I’m the GM my 3 step plan of action would be this. 1. Trade Devin Harris, Anthony Morrow and multiple draft picks in 2011 and 2012 for Chris Paul and Jason Smith. 2. Trade Kris Humpries, Damon James and remaining draft picks in 2011 and 2012 for OJ Mayo and Sam Young. 3. Target Carmelo Anthony in Free Agency with a core of Chris Paul, OJ Mayo, Derrick Favors, Brooke Lopez and another top pick in the lottery.

SteroidParticipantI think the Nets will wait to see who the other possible suitors are for Carmelo to see what kind of move they should make. If they can hold up on trading picks and just wait to see what happens in the free ageny, then that’ll be the best bet. However, I just don’t see Carmelo doing a sign and trade, which a sign and trade would be the only decent reason for the Nets to be aggressive with trade talks… It would be crazy if they could somehow keep the talent they got now and pull CP3 and Carmelo. If they don’t get Carmelo, CP3 would be a very good consolation prize if they can get him, which I think would be more beneficial for their young bigs and whoever they pick up in the draft.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantI’m on my Smart phone so I can’t do the trade machine link. Hornets would save money in that deal and new jersey has the cap to take on Cp3 and offer a max deal to Melo. Humpries, Morrow and James for Mayo and Young would work too. Memphis then can focus on drafting Mayo’s replacement and resigning ZBO and Gasol. The Nj players are all role players that fit in The Grizzlies system. Mayo would be a great guard next to Paul and Melo. Resigning Troy Murphy and keeping Favors/Lopez together would be great. Harris and 3 picks is more than enough to net superstar X. The nets have to keep their pick this year, because that puts them over the top scary. Terrence Jones or Harrison Barnes could become the 6th man on this team.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 01/08/2011 - 9:59am #472703
The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThe Nets have enough Cap to make it work. They can also offer another 1st round pick and Kris Humpries and Damion James for Mayo and Sam Young. They still can keep their lottery pick this year and draft the best wing prospect on the board. They add Paul, Mayo and a lottery pick while clearing enough space with Murphy’s expiring contract to sign Carmelo for the Max. Murphy would surely resign with the Nets now that Paul and Melo are on the roster. A roster that can have Cp3,Mayo,Melo,Favors,Lopez and lottery pick in 2011. If Barnes or T.Jones falls to the Nets its almost a lock they start the season as the favorites to win the east. It makes sense to go for Paul first and then use him as a selling point. Along with the Mayo/Favors/Lopez trio. A good pick in the lottery puts them over the top.
