GreenLanternParticipantIm sorry but I got a bone to pick concerning the predictions (fantasies) by fans and media types that I see on the web on a daily basis. Let me start by saying I am a HUGE OKC Thunder and Portland Trailblazer fan. I always dream of scenarios happening that would make my team better, but whenever I post comments or discuss possibilites with others, I try to be as objective as possible. Most people try to do the same but a few are just ridiculous with all due respect. Let’s address some of the more outlandish alternate universe theories floating around.
1. If you think the Clippers are trading Blake Griffin for anything other than a future Hall of Famer and maybe then some, then I have a whole lot of bridges to sell you. Most of this is coming from people (media and otherwise) who simply don’t want to see a talent like Griffin go to one of the worst sports franchises in history (I don’t either by the way). What’s worse is when fans started ACTUALLY hating on Griffin as soon the Clips won the lottery, obviously because he was going to a team nobody likes. There are good players this year, but Griffin is and will be THE beast of this draft, and everyone including the haters that would be singing his praises if he went to a popular team knows it.
2. LeBron to New York? This one isn’t totally ridiculous, but close. New York has done a fine job so far rebuilding and preparing itself for a pitch to LeBron in 2010, but realize something that shoul be clearer now to everybody: LBJ is a first class prima donna (and I’m a fan, but it’s true) who is LOVING the attention he’s getting out of this story. The people pushing this are the big media types and irrational Knicks fans. Remember it’s cool and fun to theorize, but some are pushing this as FACT without acknowleding the information that disputes the theory, and that’s just insane.
3. I’m not trying to pick on Knicks fans, but what’s up with the “The Knicks are gonna make the playoffs!” thing? It seems to be mostly unique with Knick fans. First of all being a 7 or 8 seed with less than 41 wins is possible but nothing to brag about at all in the East when there are going to be 10 or 11 teams in the West that will match or better the East’s 8th seed’s record next year and everyone knows that. Disputing this is fine and welcome as long as you are fair minded about it. For instance, a friggin poodle can “pick” a team it likes to make the playoffs, doesn’t remotely mean it’s gonna happen. When predicting a playoff team, to me an argument MUST include who is going to get knocked out of the race from the previous year, and obviously either why that team will be worse or why your predicted team will be better. Otherwise you or I might as well be that poodle picking the Vancou- I mean Memphis Grizzlies to win it all!
Again this is all fun folks i’m just pointing out stuff that has been irking me (and i believe I’m not alone)lately across the internet, and I have more I’ll post on later! Peace

QHaynes123cap…check out my LBJ to NYC thread…
I agree he is a little bit of a Prima Donna (he always does that get foul, and check for blood thing)
But I rather have that on my side…

GreenLanternParticipantQ, I’d be lying if I said your thread wasn’t well thought out and plausible, but let’s discuss a couple things bout this. 1. The Knicks have to give up either Lee or Robinson to make room cap wise for James. 2) Let’s say they do the sensible thing and let Nate walk, you then have a less attractive team unless 3) NYK is able to draft Curry this year and 4) Curry produces at a clip (as a rookie?) Krypto-Nate which anysensibe person would admit has a less than 30% chance of happening. That’s just four obstacles that have to go right IMMEDIATELY before James seriously considers bolting. I can name more.

QHaynes1231. Cant agree. Both of those guys are signing qualifying offers this offseason ( both together are 10 mil)
2. By 2010, they will have Eddy Curry (9.4 mil), Al Harrington (9.5 Mil), Quentin Richardson ( 8-9 mil), Chris Wilcox (6.4 mil), Chris Duhon (5.5 Mil), Larry Hughes (12 mil) off the books!!!!
3. The Knicks will have enough money to add a superstar or 2-3 good players around LBJ if he comes to NYK. They would also have Curry ( the expected 9th pick) , Gallnari and they could resign Lee if they dont get Stoudemire…

GreenLanternParticipantThat would be nice Q BUT you, me, Heaven, and the rest of the universe knows that if Lee and Robinson produce next year like they did this year or better, they BOTH are not stupid enough to sign contracts next year that would be half what they would get elsewhere.

sheltwon3ParticipantI think it all depend on if they can get Amare who would be an upgrade over Lee who is more consistent. Also is they draft Curry along with keeping Chandler, they have a pretty good top 4 and they play in the
East where 4 talented players like that can get you home court in the first round of the playoffs. If they can add a bench then maybe they got something. I dont know if Lebron leaves Cleveland though. A lot of things has to go right for the Knick to have this work0- Posted on: Mon, 06/01/2009 - 5:00pm #155407
GreenLanternParticipantAgree about everything but slightly disagree Sheltwon about Amare being better than Lee. Yeah I know Amare is on Sportcenter every night but look at the stats and the games. Lee is magnificent, he’s got better character, neither one plays extraordinary defense but Lee would give the effort at least and most importantly he’s younger than Amare. If NYK is insane enough to let Lee go, then Isiah should get his job back.

Meditated StatesParticipantHis man Jay Z is part owner. They have two all stars, Devin Harris and Brooke Lopez will be there next year trust that. He is out just watch and see. This prima Donna has a plan in mind.

GreenLanternParticipantThe Nets are actually MORE likely than the Knicks, but still less than 50%.
