Well wall is the obvious pick but im also excited we have the 30 and 35 pick. And with those picks I think they should get a SF and a big man. 30th pick alot of people say pondexter but he plays alot like thornton Id say Gani Lawal because we need a hustle player like singleton who I think will be let go then with the 35th go after Darrington Hobson he has good size at 6″7 for a SF and his versatility is something the wizards dont have alot of.
With a lineup lookin like this pre-free agency of
    Wall/Arenas
    Arenas/Young
    THornton/Hobson
    Blatche/Lawal
    Mcgee

As far as free agency you have to let foye miller oberto howard ross livingston and boykins all walk
Some targets for FA should be perimeter defense, 3pt shooting, More post scoing
Travis Outlaw should be a serious target hopefully they wont over pay he offers 3pt shooting and has the tools to be a good defender, Tony Allen a athletic defender and slasher, and a roster filler at C
    post free agency
    Wall
    Arenas
    Outlaw
    Blatche
    Mcgee
    6th man Thornton or Young
Bench: Lawal Young Hobson Allen FA C FA PG

i got the feeling thornton will be gone. I defenitley dont see the team excercising his 11 million dollar option for next year. So he’ll be a free agent and will probably get around 5-6 mill a year similar to what guys like artest and ariza got last year.

And the wizards have a very bright future. A lot rides on how good wall is and if arenas is at 100% health. If those two play like they are capable of, then thats an amazing backcourt that could lead them to the playoffs. And they have a lot of cap space for a free agent or two.

Time 2 call sumbody out and llperez is the latest victim! i dont kno where u got ur info from but al thornton is my cousin. And he is DEFINITELY NOT making 11 million on a option next year. Please explain 2 me where u got this or if u were jus making it up 2 sound smart. He def still has the same deal hes had since his rookie year and never signed an extension. his option is for the team to pay him almost 4 mill next year. nice try!

They’ll never win a championship with Arenas, so unless they get rid of him I don’t see them having a bright future at all.

the real question is what they do with arenas… who would take him, and what would they get for him…

i’ve said it before and ill say it again, i think peole are writing of arenas prematurely. This guy was battling through injuries and the rest from this suspension will probably help him in that regard to come back at full strength. Also, this suspension should be an eye opener for him to get his act right. I would be shocked if he wasnt on his best behavior. A healthy and focused arenas is an all nba performer in this league and will do the scoring while wall runs the show as a pg.

he is still and was still at least a top 20 player in the NBA and top 10 when he was healthy.
I think it will be good for Wall to have someone to take the pressure of him to be the man.
They will give him the keys at the point and maybe have Livingston play some 1 and 2 off the bench.
I can see the challenging for 8 spot in the east.
Blatch and the other young guy will be a better also.
I look as a Areans as a pro level Bledsoe in the NBA for Wall.
He will still average 20 maybe more if healthy no doubt in my mind about that.

it’s really hard to predict what to expect from the wizards next year. They rely on a rookie, a veteran coming off of surgery and asuspension, and then a whole bunch of young guys still trying to prove themselves on a winner like Young, Blatche, Livingston, McGee, Foye etc… Plus they do have a lot of cap space so we wil see what they do with that.

Thorton’s was a team option…4th year of his rookie deal…but I’m pretty sure it’s already been picked up.

Huge team option that won’t be exercised ,that said there is a possibility they will resign him with a fraction of what he was getting

Ah yeah, time for Dhamp2 to get this this. Here is what I have to say about the Wizards……There’s no way Areans and Wall co-exit. Wall is certainly going to play point guard. Sure move Areans to the shooting guard position. But who is he going to guard on defense. He wasn’t known as a defender anyway. Does Michael Bibby/Steve Francis backcourt sound familiar from a decado ego. Exactly. I sense a trade. A bad one at that. No one really wants to take on Gilbert’s contract, but throw in mainly scrub players and it would work. Honestly, drafting Wall won’t be much different from the Wizards having Butler and Jamison. They are still going to have too many scorers and not enough defense. I’m also concerned with the devlopment of Blatche now.

No way they are the same team as Butler and Jamison……….As I knew for a while but everyone finally saw Jamison was a terrible defender when You have Blatche ad Mcgee thats two young athletic young players who block alot of shots and rebound well enough……And the too many scorers thing John Wall is a willing passer Gilbert is the only person who needs the ball to score and with wall penetrating blatche and mcgee all get easy buckets

Exactly my point. Gilbert will shoot them right of the playoff. He’ll also halt the growth of Blatche. Throw in Josh Howard. Yeah, there’s not much difference. This is coming from a Gilbert fan. I’m the only one who said he would be a star at Arizona.
