Lotto StudParticipantSooooo the draft is about to take place in a few minutes which Maya Moore is expected to go #1 overall to none other than a Minnesota franchise who has 2 top 5 picks. Can we expect a Kahn like move with them going with 2 Forwards?

Lotto StudParticipantIf Maya Moore was not in this draft that 6’8” girl would go #1 overall

Lotto StudParticipantMinny should go with the female Olowokandi for when Griner comes out

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantI heard they’ll take both Moore and Lavender. Maybe they’ll trade for Griner later, haha

mikeyvthedonParticipantThought, "what the heck" and watched the first round. I think these girls can play, most of them are pretty darn amazing. I knew Maya Moore was great, but she must be AMAZING to choose her over Lizzie Cambage. I mean, I do not know a lot about women’s prospects and only heard about Lizzie today (lol), but she seems like a dominant force. She is 19, lead the Aussies women’s senior team in scoring (this is the team with Lauren Jackson, the multiple WNBA MVP and the C on the Seattle Storm championship squad) and she won the WNBL MVP. Not to mention, she is 6’8 (as tall as Brittney Griner). She does not seem to have the speed or athleticism of Griner, but she is going to be difficult to stop down low.
It was funny, because as soon as Maya Moore was chosen, they pretty much said she was expected to be MVP right off the bat, which in the WNBA is reasonable and has happened (I think at least with Candace Parker). She must be the Kobe of women’s ball right now, she seems to have a fantastic skill set and I know her career at UCONN was incredibly impressive. Still, this Cambage girl looks like she is special. It will be interesting to see how these women progress, and if it was really as easy as it seemed to choose Maya. I am guessing Maya is the real deal, not to mention Minnesota chose a girl at #4 who looks to have an awesome skill set for being 6’5. I figure if I ever have a daughter, I would love for a WNBA to be around, and even so it is great for the best women basketball players in the world to have a domestic pro league. These girls can ball!
