The mock draft on this website has Xavier going to Houston at 14..

    2 things

    1) i dont think xavier falls that far..i think utah at 9 should take a serious look and so should indiana at 10
    2) i dont see houston taking a 2-guard (kevin martin, ariza, battier, budinger, jermaine taylor) when they are in need of a big man due to yao’s uncertain future

    your guys thoughts?

he could go anywhere from 9 – 15…NO/Mem/Tor??/Houston???/ the thing is any team from 9 on could grab him…all of those teams could use a young off guard with range and NBA body…If he’s around at 16 the Wolves get him…The Combo of Favors or Cousins with the 4th and Xavier Henry at 16 may be enough to lure Philly into trading Evan Turner…X.Man Henry will be a nice shooting guard in the L…he’ll either have a career similar to Corey Maggette, Eddie Jones or Jimmy Jackson at worse….but he could be better than Any 2 guard not named Evan Turner out of this class …I think he can be on par with Turner in time…

I think it would make a great couple with Derrick Rose in the bulls, but is likely to choose before. Jazz, Pacers, bucks or wolves seem the best candidates.

If Boozer leaves Utah will be weak inside with Millsap and Okur. Fesenko and Koufos haven’t showed they can play so I think Utah goes big with Aldrich or could trade back for Whiteside.

I see someone trading up to get Henry as not many teams need a 2 guard so either he goes to Minnesota or Chicago at 16 or 17 or someone trades up and gets him.

Aldrich is a bench player in the NBA who can’t score (just 9.4 ppg in college).
Whiteside is raw project with a bad attitude, low IQ and high bust factor.

Both are too risky for a team like the Jazz to take in the lottery.

The Jazz needs a ‘can’t miss’ player in the lottery and an upgrade at SF where CJ Miles averaged a pathetic 9.9 pts. 2.7 rebs. 1.7 asts. 0.9 stls. 42,4% fg. 69.5% ft. 34.1% 3fg. CJ Miles belongs with the second unit.

Indications are the Jazz are going for the SF upgrade in the lottery because there may be a future all-star available at the SF position (Luke Babbitt, Paul George…) and you just don’t pass up those kind of talents to draft a role player or bust like Eric Montross, Saer Sene, Todd Fuller or Joel Pryzbilla.

Yeah the 9 or 10 picks seems to be the most likely spot for henry because hes too good of a scorer and has ideal size for a sg. Hou has to go big maybe whiteside or davis if he falls which is unlikely.
Teams 9-14 all have needs other than 2 guard and im keeping my fingers crossed that henry falls to the bucks at 15

Doesn’t Salmons play the 2, or could he move to the 3, cause Henry is more of a 2 than a 3.

I listed Xavier as 1b for the Jazz to draft. 1a obviously being Greg Monroe should he fall (unlikely)

my current draft has Monroe at 8th(Clips), Xavier at 9th (Jazz) and Rockets get Patterson at 14th

New Orleans or Utah would bite on him before 14. I feel Henry provides the shooting, defensive ability, and (most importantly for a rookie) the unselfishness to provide an instant impact, and he has the potential to be a 3rd or even 2nd option in a few years as well. He’s also a decent athlete and can help a team in transition too.

Xavier Henry would be perfect for Indiana, because the Pacers need guard help at both spots.

What the Pacers don’t need is a SF with Danny Granger and Mike Dunleavy Jr. already on board.

I was thinking the same thing lol. It seems like people are forgetting that the Pacers drafted Rush in the lotto only 2 drafts ago. Henry provides of the same things Rush does, some things better than others. But he also provides alot of what Rush DOESN’T, which is why they should look to pick a big man.

Henry is a better fit for the Hornets or Utah.

Henry is a true SG who handles and creates better than Rush.

Rush is really an undersized SF, not a SG, and his handles are weak.

    Rush is a bench player.

Henry could become the Pacers’ starting SG.

The Pacers need a new SG and PG.

If New Orleans drafted Henry where does that put Marcus Thornton?

Thornton would be a possible starter at the beginning of the season, maybe even longer, if Henry is drafted there. But in the long run Thornton would be the 6th man off the bench, where he’s better suited.

its silly to me to consider Babbitt or George future all stars and not Henry…..I have him rated in the top 5 or 6 players in this draft…..maybe even 4th…..I had him ranked higher than Wall coming out of HS…..mark my words somebody is getting a steal with him and if Philly gets him and Cousins it will be one of the best drafts of this decade….

Rush is an NBA shooting guard, he played the 2 and 3 in college because KU tends to run that 3 guard offense. In that same 3 guard offense, Xavier Henry played the same position Rush did, so Henry is no more of a shooting guard than Rush. Rush can start because of his defensive ability and has established himself as a top notch perimeter defensive player in only two years in the NBA. Henry has more offensive potential in my opinion, but the two are very similar offensively, they both settle for jumpers don’t really attack the basket and although I believe Henry has better range, Rush improved his 3 point percentage to a very solid 41% last year. Even if Henry does end up better, drafting two extremely similar players in a 3 year span doesn’t make much sense and Rush would start right away anyway because of his defensive ability. Personally, I think a defensive minded 3-4th option at shooting guard next to Granger makes more sense than another more offensive minded, (who plays good D, but not quite the level of Rush) SG in Henry.

With the lack in point guards outside of Wall that are worthy of being taken at #10 they have to go big, in my opinion, Troy Murphy is most likely on his way out, Dunleavy is an injury waiting to happen, Foster is getting old. They have a lot holes, I personally think in this draft this is where they draft a big.

As for Henry, I think Utah and N.O. could snag him up but I could see Utah going big and N.O. going for Gordon Haywood or Paul George because he can play small forward and shooting guard as well and the Julian Wright/Peja experiment at SF least year BOMBED, but if he slips he won’t fall past #17 in Chicago who would love it if he fell that far, #15 Milwaukee could use some insurance for Michael Redd so even if he does slip there’s no way he’ll drop any further than 17.
