Since amare is my fav player, i dont get y he wood want to leave phx…. they had a great yr, exceeded all expectations, stoudamire himself had a great year, phx is a damn good team, but y leave???? i know its all bout the benjamins i guess lol

i think he can still be very effective even without nash, while a lot of people dont think he will be, which idk y??? they both make each other better in a way, nash is a great passer, amare is a great finisher, therefore……. nash is forchuante to have a finisher like amare, and amare is forchunate to have such a great passer like nash,

    but wat u guys think?

Suns lowballed him with a 6 year/71 million dollar deal.

but hes got it made in phx , amare in my eyes isnt a superstar player, b4 his first knee surgery the guy was amazingly athletic, can dominate a game with his athletisicm alone, but now, he’s just a great player, he isnt a superstar max contract guy at all

But if someone offered you 5 years 100 million or 6 years/ 71 million? Plus he’s going to the same system for more money? Why not leave?

Fortunate is the word you are looking for. Good gracious man.

Phoenix thinks that they can survive without giving Amare a max deal and Amare thinks that he is a superstar that deserves a max deal. It is not really a match made in heaven.

Phx has huffed and puffed, but they have never made it to the finals with this team and Nash is only getting older. I think it is a smart decision by Phx not to get locked into a max 6-year deal with Amare, I think it would come back to haunt them.

On the other hand, if I am Amare why does he want to stay in Phx if:
    1. They are going to pay him significantly less money than other teams can offer.
    2. They still have not really come all that close to winning a title. (Don’t get me wrong they were a few lucky bounces one way or the other away from getting to the finals, but I have not looked at that team and thought “That team is going to be one of the 3-4 teams competing for the championship” for a few years now.)

I think it is probably the right time for both parties to go their separate ways.

    Amare, Gallo, Chandler?

We will be in playoff contention next season. We had alot of bad losing streaks but Amare and another good player? We should make the playoffs. I’m hoping for James-Stoudemire but if not? I’ll take Stoudemire-Gallo-Miller-Ellis.

    Cool, go by record then.

Nash and the Suns needed Amare more then you think. He was thier only low post scorer. Was he helped by Nash? Yes but not by much. He had a 20 point season pre Nash.

The Knicks were rebuilding. So of course they would have a bad season. The only thing is the Knicks improved thier record every season.

So we will see what happens with Amare in NY

People forget the Knicks are in the East where teams below .500 can still make the playoffs.

I’m sure a huge factor is that he gets to team up with D’Antoni again. If it’s true he didn’t receive a max offer from Phoenix then that would also be another big reason.

You guys gotta remember the freak athletisism Amare had before Nash..He was like Shaq if Shaq ever got to 225 the man was crazy. Thats why he averaged 20ppg in one season PRE NASH. He has lost that athletisism due to injuries and wear. If New York doesnt get a PG that can pass the rock in the pick and roll Stoudemire’s skills will be ineffective on the offensive end.

Im not being a Toronto homer by saying this but the last thing the Knicks need is Ellis. To me Ellis is a player that will appeal to the fans as a “sorry we tried” type guy.

The Knicks need to land Felton, if not Felton collison, but of all I really think Calderon would FLOURISH on the Knicks team especially with Stoudemire who feeds off that pick and roll.

Lets not forget Last Season Calderon had these stats.
    ppg-13
    rpg-3
    apg-9
    spg-1
    fg%-50%
    3pt%-40%
FT%-981<<<<<<<<<Best Ever In The History of The NBA
    A:TO-4.2 Assists Per Turnover

Since Calderons been in the league the only person better at A:TO Ratio is Chris Paul. The only other person close is Jason Kidd. Imagine what Dantoni could do with a guy like this.

FT%981<<<<<BEST EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE NBA
Assist To Turnover Ratio-4.12 Assists Per TO

He has the 2nd best Assist to TO Ratio since he's been in the L behing Chris Paul and ahead of Jasion Kidd…thts pretty good company. His only flaws are, he isnt much of a risk taker and her gets exposed by quicker gaurds. His mentallity is win win win thats all he cares about and he is the perfect teamate.

Imagine what Dantoni could do with this guy.

up temp offense that d’antoni wants to run ……Ellis fits perfect in that offense not Calderon

to the question -1 its all about the money
2-amare has had a great relationship with d’antoni when they was in phoenix
3 -same offense he flourished in

Calderon doesnt fit well in a fast pace offense? Since when is that? He pushes the ball with great precision and is a very smart playmaker. Just because he doesnt take risks like Nash doesnt mean he cannot thrive in the Fast break.
