Do you think you could beat her in a 1v1 game? I’m sure I’d get my ass handed to me.

    Thoughts?

right now i would get my butt handed to me. I have been playing for about 3 months but i have a bad ankle and cant move like i used to. Prior to the broken ankle, i would pick me. I have played against college women before and i was significantly better although it certainly wasnt any big name players on the level of maya moore.

I think this is a really interesting question.

From Personal Experience, I really think that male athleticism is a huge advantage. For example, a few buddies and I were playing around with some chicks from the women’s ball team on campus. I’m not saying we dominated them, but the women simply couldn’t stop us in transition when we would drive it into their bodies. Size-wise, the men were slightly smaller (Women were around 6 feet, except for one, I’m pretty sure; and it was 5’8" me and a few guys 5’10")

I know the question is regarding 1 on 1, but I think that I can personally drive it into her body, get up, hang and hit 8 footers all day. I don’t know how strong she is though. I mean, probably not as strong as me cuz I’m about 168 pounds with 8 percent body fat. She seems fatter.

Overall, I think it’ll be close.

I’d beat her, but she’d be tough.

I played against Catchings, from the Indiana Fever, at an open gym held at IUPUI and I beat her by a few points. She was pretty damn good though… And strong too.

I’m definitely respectful of women players and women ball.

I think it’d be a really close game honestly, I’m 6’2” 180ish and have been on a strength based workout program for the last couple months, and can make plays above the rim. There’s no player in womens college basketball that has the kind of strength I do.  I think my strength and athleticism would be extremely hard for her to handle, but she seems to be a great mid range jump shooter and although that is one strength in my game I’m sure she is a better shooter.  I think it’d be close, but I have to say i’d take it because I would dominate any offense rebound opportunities, and I know i’d block a hand full of shots.

I remember reading this article in high school and it was very interesting, it’s about how the Tennessee women would recruit mens players on campus to practice against. I seem to be a better athlete and player than a lot of guys used to play against them so I’d think it’d end up taking the game of 1 on 1.

I’m 6’4" 205.  I think the size and strength advantage would be a major plus, but I’m sure she is quicker and in better shape.

See I actually play ball.  I can dunk and dribble and all that.  I played ball in high school and still play today.  I mean I respect her and her team and all that they have done, but all jokes aside, I would beat her pretty easily.

i would lose but im pretty sure i would get mine. i can finish against bigger players as i am pretty strong(5 foot 8 at about 195). and i dont know what my body fat is but i know alot is muscle and i can use my body to finish over dudes about 6 4 and smaller.

in conclusion, in a game to 21, maya moore wins 21-15. imo

When i am in shape i would pick me. I am 6.5 and about 240 pounds. i was never a great scorer when i played. But i was a stopper and i would guard the other teams highest scorer most of the time. I think i would be able to play tight D on her well still staying in front of her and i think i would be much stronger then her. So i think in the end i would beat her down with my size.

You guys are retarded this is maya moore the most hyped womens player since Candace Parker. I dont know what you guys are on she would just stand beyond the 3pt line and drain shots all day, like most players with her skill level she hits open jumpshots.

I wish I was as strong as yall, I’m a 6′ 3" point guard, 150 lbs…still workin on the dunking thing. Got close but pulled my groin so I had to sit out for a while. I really really need to put on muscle…

Back to the question, I’d like to think I could beat her, but I think she’s probably faster than it seems. It’s always that way, people are way faster in real life than on tv

Seriously Taylor. Thank you. She’s almost 6’0". Her upper body strength is exceptional (have you seen her forearms??) her ball handling is exceptional, better than the vast majority of people. Her jumpshot and lateral quickness are as good as a lot of D 1 men. I think that a lot of you are not even considering her skill, and are saying youd win STRICTLY because shes a woman… And for that I guess you can keep your ‘pride’ by disregarded the ammpount of work and skill shes put…It aight tho.

i have a friend who is on the UCONN women’s basketball practice squad. he’s 6’3 and built like a moose. he started at PF for his high school team that went to the state finals his senior year. he can shoot the lights out and he will take you off the dribble if you ever guard him close cause he is such too much of a bruiser. he is a very smart skilled and efficient player to say the least.

he tells me the womens team WHOOPS their ass and maya moore is entirely unstoppable. he said its not even close its just utter domination.

    so think again tough guys.

Maya Moore is the best player on arguably the best womens basketball team of all time, She is at the top university for a D1 university. Guys may have the size advantage, and may not want to wound their pride by losing to a girl but you guys are kidding yourselves if you think you are better then her, she would singlehandly destroy almost everyone on this site one on one who had not played ball at a university level or has a big heaight and size advantage

@NastyDHL, I have a lot of respect for female basketball players, they are often more skilled in shooting, dribbling, and fundamental basketball than many men and that lends itself for very good teams like U-Conn, but of course they beat the crap out of the practice players, they are coached by Geno Auriemma and the practice players are just a group of assorted players from around campus.  These women have experience playing with each other and if the rules are anything like the Vol’s the men can’t play physical, or above the rim, or go all out as to not injure players that mean a whole lot for the school than the practice players.

She is a very skilled player, no doubt, but I don’t think it’s out of the question to think a player who is taller, stronger and more athletic who also has skill, but not to as high of a level, could beat her in a game of 1 on 1. I couldn’t score 41 points in a women’s D1 game, no way in hell, but I really think it’d be a close game of 1 on 1 if we were to play 1 on 1.  Gerald Henderson beat a 50 year old MJ, a lot of middle and high schoolers could beat Shaq in a game of horse and he is a HOFer, horse and 1 on 1 are a lot different than a 40 minute regulation game.
