Your Fave NBA Announcer/Broadcaster
Not a popular one but mine is JVG, he speaks from a coaching perspective and calls out officials for bad calls and what not while Mike Breen seems to be David Sterns pet. Also my least favorite used to be Mark Jackson and the only reason I root for the Warriors is to keep him out of Broadcasting. I used to love Bill Walton, not because he was insightful but because he was so rediculous
I love Bill Walton, and the passion and humor he brings to the broadcast. Stacey King would be good if he didn't pander to the meatball Chicago fan and repeat his signature catch phrases all the time. He is getting better at that but you don't need to say "hard hat/lunch pal" "masked-man" "hot sauce" "Mr. entertainment" every time that player does anything. Steve Kerr is good. Thought I would like Barkley a lot more but I like him in the studio a lot better. Reggie Miller-bad.
Play-by-play I like Kevin Harlan "no regard for human life" and Gus Johnson.
I used to love listening to Bill when he announced a few games for the Lakers. He was so proud of his boy Luke Walton. hahah.. Whatever happened to him? Will he ever return or his back still messed up?
Used to love it back int the day when Tommy Heinsohn and Bob Coosy were teamed up. Imagine, there was once a time when Tommy Heinsohn was the sober voice of reason!
I've always liked Jeff Van Gundy and Kevin Harlan as the play-by-play man.
i like marv albert and jeff van gundy, in college i love jay bilas. the WORST is hubie brown. the man sounds like he is reading off of a damn script!
Huby Brown and Bill Walton are my all time favorites. Huby Brown probably gives more basketball knowledge in his broadcasting than the next 5 best guys combined.
Austin Carr is great in Cav's broadcast because you can tell how much he likes the Cav's. He bungles through sentences and seems to have had a few drinks sometimes, its great. He and McLeod are like two guys in a bar. The other day Fred McLeod mentioned how he thought one of the the local television channel weather girls was cute and was going to ask her out for lunch after their station did a commercial. At least 4 four times a game they forget they're being recorded.
Agree with you on "AC" and McLeod. "Get that weak stuff outa here", "there goes a bird"...its like a comedy show. As far as nationally, does anyone sound like they love their job more than Gus Johnson? Gus Johnson is youtube gold.
I don't know what I was thinking, it's gota be Ralph Lawler from the Clippers, BINGO!!
I've always liked jack Armstrong and chuck swirsky was pretty good too. But also I'm a long time knick fan and gotta love Walt Frazier he got old school talk and his suits are always entertaining too. Other then those guys I would also have to say jvg is a good one and hubie brown is a great commentator too. I always prefer Doug Collins on tv too lol.
On the other side I would say tommy hienson is my most hated and is probably the main reason I hate the celtics and the same goes for the lakers guys too. I get it they are commentators for those teams but they just d ride to much for me. &$#%#&@! tommy points lol
Kevin Harlan, Steve Kerr, Hubie Brown, their all good announcers. Also Reggie Miller provides good insight and JVG can be hilarious at times.
Johnny Red Kerr, RIP to him. He was always my favorite as a Bulls fan. Loved his enthusiasm and was a genuine nice guy!
Gary Bender is my favorite broadcaster of all time for basketball. His voice calling games is something I will remember hearing for the rest of my life. He retired in 2011, but for 18 years he called games for my Phoenix Suns and I loved every bit of it starting around 2002 (when i was old enough to grasp the concept and importance of the NBA). The game just rolled off of his tongue so perfectly. Id be hard pressed to find someone who does not like Gary Bender.
Hubie Brown is great, he's great to listen to, he's my favorite, but Charles Barkley is quickly making a case to be up there, he knows what he's talking about, and to me is probably the most informative commentator behind Hubie. I really want to see Barkley and Hubie commentate together, they should have one game a year where TNT and ESPN mix and match commentators, that'd be pretty cool.

Who is your favorite NBA announcer?
Chick Hearn to me was my personal favorite of all time.
But currently my favorite is Hubie Brown. I don't get to listen to him a lot, but everytime he gets on.. the man knows the game of basketball. He always breaks down the sequence of a play or what just happened. A lot of announcer these days just talk about random stuff, but he doesn't. I learned so much from him. I also liked Mark Jackson before he became a coach.
