Dale WorthingtonParticipantYo, St. John’s is the 2nd best team in that region (it’s terrible…no disrespect to the Johnnies who I believe are a top 15 team).
Either Pitt or St. John’s is gonna emerge from that reigion and go to the Final Four.
Here’s the case for St. John’s:
They BEAT Pitt this year, KILLED Notre Dame, beat Georgetown (with Chris Wright), KILLED Duke, KILLED UConn, beat Cincy, beat Marquette, and beat Nova.
Their marquee wins are beyond sensational.
The only reason they’re a 6-seed is b/c they had 2 awful early season losses to St. Bonaventure and Fordham which hurt their RPI.
Also, one of their best players DJ Kennedy got hurt and is out for the NCAA Tournament, which dropped them down 1 or 2 seeds.
I’m not too worried about the exclusion of Kennedy b/c now they have a new post presence in Sean Evans to accompany Justin Burrell down low. BTW Evans dropped 11 and 12 against Cuse.
This team has more heart than anyone else in the Land…and it all starts with Steve Lavin.
Senior-laden squad that has killed a 1-seed, a 2-seed, a 3-seed, and beat another 1-seed. They have proven that they can beat literally anyone.
They have all the confidence in the world and will to win.
Dwight Hardy is also phenomenal.

mikeyvthedonParticipantIt could happen, but I honestly do not love that match-up for Texas. Hamilton will have to be huge, and very well could against the smaller Duke guards, but I think Duke’s size kind of gives them the advantage. Believe me, I would LOVE to see Texas beat them, and in the tournament anything can happen, but I like Duke’s chances. My Final 4 right now is boring, but it is just based on match-ups and what I see as being the likely scenarios. I really thought that all of the number 1’s would have a chance to go down, but the way the brackets were built, they all are pretty well favored. I have little confidence in most of the 2 seeds, though Florida could be interesting. Right now my bracket looks very unoriginal, a few upsets sprinkled in, but I like most of the front runners to hold the fort. NC is a team I would have loved to have gone far, and I hope they do. But they have so little depth and so many injuries, player losses, I feel they may be doomed. I am excited to see what happens, but as much as I watch and follow college basketball, I do not know anyone who does that is a tourney expert. If you finish with great brackets year after year, you are a better man than I. My ultimate goal is to get a perfect Elite 8, Final 4 and Final Champ, but I have never been too close. One year I had 7/8, 3/4, but my champion (UNC) lost too Georgetown. Honestly, I am looking forward to the tournament and I would love to see numerous upsets, I chose Ohio State to win it, but I have no overwhelming favorite. The top ranked team usually goes down at some point, plus they are in a potentially deadly bracket, but I find them to be the lesser of evils this year. I can not pick Duke and I refuse too pick Kansas after last year. The Jayhawks look like the deepest team coming into the tournament, but they did last year too 🙂

SwatLakeCityParticipantOhio State
Arizona (There is always a Cinderella squad. I think Arizona is this year’s Cinderella team. Derrick Williams is just a beast and the only player who can stop is Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger.)
Kansas
BYU (Hate to say it, but this is the region where Colorado should be. I am not very happy about them not making it so I have to have my revenge. If Colorado did make it then you would see Pitt here instead.
Kansas wins it all.

jeff416ParticipantOhio State- I think they have been the overall best team this year.
Memphis- I’m bias and always pick Memphis.
Georgetown- Kansas is the favorite, but I’m going with a upset.
BYU- This is a pretty weak bracket, and I think they have a chance if Jimmer goes off.

konqueredParticipantPittsburgh (Easy route to final four.. Might end up playing utah state in the sweet 16 and the bottom half of Southeast region is a joke)
Ohio State (Although it is quite likely they may be here.. but I see them scraping past enough tough opponents. Remind me again whats the use of getting the overall #1 if they decide to give you the hardest region (although not tough as Kansas’ insane region last year) Kentucky in the sweet 16? NC or syracuse in the elite 8? Thats just brutal.
Kansas (similar to pittsburgh they have a relatively slack route to the final four)
San Diego State – They have the easiest route to the final four in their region.. + Sweet Sixteen and Elite8 is in Anaheim, home game much? I see them taking out Duke as they would dominate the paint and cause duke to just launch threes all game. However, if they play texas instead in the elite 8 (although i dont think texas gets this far), I would pick texas as they have the players (thompson, johnson) to bang around the bruisers SDSU has while their perimeter players are far superior. SDSU got a relastive easy draw.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantHELL NAW.
San Diego State has Connecticut…no way they’re getting past UConn.
The Conn killed Kentucky, beat Texas @ Texas, beat Georgetown (with Chris Wright), beat Cincy @ Cincy, beat Pitt, beat Cuse, and beat The Ville.
Connecticut is going to feel like they’re playing a JV High School team when they play San Diego State.

konqueredParticipantConnecticut is the weakest 3 seed lol. Only reason they got it was becos they won the big east tourney.conference tournament success hardly translates to NCAA success. Anyone remember Syracuse with G-Mac a few years back? If oriakhi is in foul trouble, sdsu frontline is gonna have a field day in the paint. And they have a great set of perimeter defenders that will make Kemba work for every point, similar to how they doubled and tripled jimmer everytime he touched the ball. Not saying sdsu will win definitely, but I feel they have a higher chance

Dont sleep on those bluecollar, experieced teams like Notre Dame, Syracuse, Purdue, and west Virginia.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantUmmmm, liek LOL, Connecticut is slightly better than Syracuse IMO and much better than Purdue and BYU.
Connecticut could make the argument that they deserve a 2-seed.
Again, The Conn killed Kentucky, beat Texas @ Texas, beat Georgetown (with Chris Wright), beat Cincy @ Cincy, beat Pitt, beat Cuse, and beat The Ville.
Yeah, top that, herb.
