T_Faulk23ParticipantIf he comes out, could he be similar to Dion Waiters and be a high draft pick without ever starting or proving a lot at the college level? He has outstanding athleticism and is definitely worthy of a 1st rounder but I have mixed opinions towards that happening.

ElPananderoParticipantI have not faith in Zach Lavine. He’s an atheltic guard who’s not a great finisher, isn’t overly physical, and is an ok shooter at the collegiate level which doesn’t always trasnlate to the NBA. Maybe he’ll be a kent bazemore.

kazamParticipantIn response to your comment, your description sounds almost identical to that of Austin Rivers coming out of Duke.

ElPananderoParticipantAustin Rivers is not doing well in the NBA at all, he is not playing like a numbeer 10 pick should have, hes averaging 6 points and an assist, and that might be better than his rookie productions. If you want to take a risk on lavine, go for it, I don’t see him being a lottery, let alone top 10. The austin comparison helps my case.

llperezOkay shooter?
He’s shooting 52% from the field and 47% from three and takes 4 threes a game. Shooting is one of his biggest strengths so if he is just okay I wonder what you consider a good shooter.

ElPananderoParticipantI don;t think that percentage is gonna trabslate, he doesnt have the ball skills to make his own shot, and doesnt he only take like 2.something a game? Thats not a high enough sample size for me.

CameronCrazy11ParticipantI don’t really think it’s reasonable to compare Zach LaVine’s production to Dion Waiters’s. Waiters was arguably the best player on a Syracuse team that received a number one seed. LaVine is putting up some nice numbers, but his team is nowhere no as deep as that 2011-12 Syracuse team was and hasn’t been the go to scorer that Waiters was either.
That being said, I think LaVine is almost a lock to be a first rounder if he declares. His talent is undeniable, and his potential alone is worthy of a first round pick.

Moon RiverParticipantThe popular Lavine comparison is Russell Westbrook. But I don’t consider Westbrook and Waiters a very good comparison at all. So- my point is that I think the jury is still out on Lavine.

YouthinkyouknowParticipantOverrated… Austin was much further along than Lavine! He needs to stay polish up on all his skills and manly focus on his body to take nba bump. With that being said I like his overrall talent but would do him wonders and can make even more money if he stays!

Jester87ParticipantHe’s a much better athlete than Rivers. I think he’s not ready at all and if he goes to the wrong team he has high chances of being a bust. But I also think he has lots of upside and in the right situation could end up being a better player than others ranked before him. Right now he’s a high risk/high reward kind of prospect.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantHoliday is out for the season, Gordon is often injured, and Evans plays the 3.
He’s had plenty of opportunities. If his dad wasn’t Doc, nobody would think he has much potential.

B-ball fanParticipantBrian Roberts isn’t exactly lighting it either. Rivers has had every opportunity to seize a starting job for the Pelicans and has failed completely.

justymlParticipantJust because lavine is 6’5 goes to ucla and is super athletic doesn’t mean he should get compared to westbrook. He has a very smooth and controlled game and as much as people want him to be a point guard, he isn’t I believe he could develop into one years down but as of right now he’s a 2 guard with the deadly combination of being a freak athlete and excellent outside shooting. We see this every year and that kind of player will always be lottery.

qDizzle32ParticipantJust because all of these big name sites are projecting him as a high draft pick does not mean he should come out at all. He is loaded with talent but that does not make him NBA ready at this time right now. With Kyle Anderson likely leaving for the NBA, that will give Zach a starting job and hopefully he can prove to be a high draft pick next year. He is nowhere near being ready to go against the pros so that would be very stupid of him to come out.

drpg913ParticipantHe is very good but def not NBA Ready. I have yet to see him make a difference against a top opponent and haven’t really seen his athleticism on display in half court. Like Wggins he’s not strong with the ball and he has no upper body strength when he drives to the basket. He does shoot the 3 well but mostly off of catch and shoot opportunities. He should def come back.

juves4783Participanti would agree with some that he is overrated, but i still think a lottery pick is justified. he has huge potential and he’s got pieces that a team can work with. he’s already a super athlete and can shoot the ball. i don’t think he’ll ever become a pg, but he does have decent handles for a sg and can bring the ball up. i think he’s got to work on perimeter defense and basketball iq and hit the weight room. he does takes some pretty bad shots, but can’t complain with a guard in the upper 40% fg. but at what he weighs right now, he’ll never get playing time.

imAboutDatActionParticipantif you watch him play you see why NBA scouts are in love wit his tools.
he’s a good shooter right now,at 19 years old,and a real great athlete. he’s really skinny so thats why he has trouble finishing around the rim right now but im sure he will work on adding weight/strength.
i love the kid and i see why scouts do too. his potential is too high to pass on in the lottery.

scott3210ParticipantI still don’t trust his stroke. It is hard to be that consistant when you have that ugly form on a jumper.

strobox88ParticipantI’ve always liked the comparison of a more athletic Klay Thompson, though his shooting obviously isn’t on Klay’s level yet, but it could get there if he develops properly.j
He is definitely deserving of a mid-to-late lotto pick on potential alone, but there’s definitely some high-risk high-reward going on there since he’s not currently NBA ready (or starting for his college basketball team).

iguapops420ParticipantTerrific athlete, but his first step leaves a bit to be desired. His wingspan at 6’7" isn’t terrible but nothing crazy.crazy. I’d also like to see some sort of playmaking and running of a half court set. Seems much more like a small sg than a pg. also I’ve been wondering where this talk of 6’5 comes from because everything I’ve read says 6’3.

strobox88ParticipantRasheed Suliamon is supposed to be 6’4″ and LaVine looked atleast 2 inches taller than him during the UCLA and Duke game, so I think 6’5″ is about right.
