Thats a ton of $$$ for a 30 yr old PF. This puts the Grizz in a tight spot with 3 guy’s wraped up for the future Gay/Conley/ZBO & Gasol has to be retained this summer. Can they win with this group as their Core? Also SI said ZBO is an unguardable PF who is a Top 10 offensive force in the L. That is a heavy statement to make.

You guys like this Signing & what about the Top 10/unguardable comment.

How many others in the league are putting up 20 & 10 on 50% shooting?

He earned that deal, too bad he’s 30 and not 28 or something. I can’t see him putting up those numbers all four years, let a lone three.

Without Randolph, Memphis is a top 5 lottery team…

I really like this deal. ZBo was never one to blow you away with his hops or first step but relied on his soft touch an good post moves so i dont think age will be an issue as that is the last things to go. Unless he lets his body go to shit , which is possible hah

An average of 16.5 mil per before bonus’s is just ridiculous.  Absurd! Its funny how quickly people forget.  Zach’s been playing great the last 2 seasons no doubt, but prior to that he was out of shape and always a locker room problem.  He always found it tough to play a "team" game and was always about the stats.  He appears to have found a running mate in Gasol who doesn’t mind being passive and defering to him.  2years ago NO ONE wanted this cancer.  Zach has been on his best behavior since he was finally flipped to the Griz 2 offseasons ago in repeated salary dumps…but will the old Zach come back?  Will he continue to improve his body or let himself go again?

First it was Gay to a max, then overpaying Conley,… now Zach.  Overpay Gasol and you’ll have a new Hawks team who will always make the playoffs but never be contending material.  Good luck with that.

ZBo was the perfect fit for Memphis when they got him, and still is. It is a lot of money, but take a look at joe jonhson’s salary.  I do believe he is in the top 10 offensive force in the league, right now. He’s strong, has a good mid-range game and flat out knows how to score. He’s a beast in the post., especially in single coverage. And he rebounds like a man possessed when he’s on a roll. I’d like to see how much he can improve the team during the contract.

ZBO should be effective for the next 4 years… He’s kinda got the old man game, he plays under th hoop and he relies on strength, mid range shot, and up fakes… You don’t lose those things as you get older, plus he seems like he has matured a lot in the last couple of years (some people take longer to mature)… I actually like what the Grizz are doing they have the pieces to make a run: a young go to player is coming into his own (Rudy Gay), young improving floor general that takes care of the ball and plays good D, good size (Gasol and ZBO), and good defensive role players… They will push the Spurs this year and come back next year on a mission…
