Zeke back with the Knicks!

"The Knicks are on the verge of hiring Isiah Thomas as a part-time consultant, but he will keep his job at Florida International.
Owner Jim Dolan is said to still be a huge fan of Isiah's, and this will earn him some extra cash on the side. No one has ever disputed Isiah's ability to evaluate college talent, but why Dolan would want him to have any decision-making capacity with the team is simply baffling." - Rotoworld

Time to plan for salary dumps for all other GMs.

we've heard the knicks fans

we've heard the knicks fans chant "fire layden" when he was the gm. We've heard knicks fans chant "fire isiah" when he was the gm. At what point do the fans just start chanting "sell the team" or "fire dolan"?

Say what u want about Isiah,

Say what u want about Isiah, but he drastically increased the talent level of Knicks during his tenure (Weatherspoon and Shannon Anderson smh). He knows how to evaluate and assemble talent. The only problem with my Knicks was just lack of chemistry and leadership from the guys within the locker room. And the Larry Brown fiasco, with his diva self, really set us back. But I really like Isiah in the organization in that capacity, he will no doubt be someone who can help.
And everyone around the league, and those within the knicks still holds Isiah in high regard, there's a reason why he's still being brought in, because he's respected as a basketball guy. Thats just knicks fans being knicks fan cause we were tired of losing. Come on, Isiah's full length resume in Toronto, Indiana and New York, not to mention his college and professional playing careers speak for themselves!

scoutguru, isiah was able to

scoutguru, isiah was able to find talent becasue he way overpaid for it. You mention shnaden andersen and clarence weatherspoon as sub par guys the knicks had before isiah got there, but how about jerome james for 30 mill? How about bringing in steve francis for 20 mill a year when they already had marbury making 20 mill and crawford making 10 mill who all were ball dominant players? How about 30 mill for jarred jeffries? 50 mill for eddy curry? Im pretty sure i can put together a 30 win team if i had a 100 million dollar budget. A lot of that lack of locker room leadership was becasue of the guys isiah brought in.

let me also mention that

let me also mention that isiah gave larry brown 50 million then said about 11 months later that he and larry were never on the same page and didnt agree on anything. Uhmm, wouldnt that be the first thing you would address BEFORE giving him 50 mill? He treated money like it was pez candy and the team wasnt very good when it was all said and done.

Add in the embarrasing sexual harrassment situation which cost the knicks millions.

And as for his track record, what did he do in toronto that was so great? Oh yeah, and he also bought the CBA (basically the NBDL before there was an NBDL) that had been around for decades and bankrupted it in about 1 year. His basketball skills aside, his track record stinks.

i like this move, isaiah is

i like this move, isaiah is an awful gm but he can be a valuable asset when used the right way. First off noone can deny his talent evaluating skills, just check his track record. he is also adored by most nba superstars, including paul and melo and can be a big help in the recruiting process. So as long as the knicks keep him in check he is actually a solid addition.

Ok I give u the Jerome James

Ok I give u the Jerome James thing. But Francis coming in was triggered by Larry Brown cuz he had beef with Marbury and wanted some1 to play over him. And Jared Jeffries at 6 mil a pop isn't bad, if you take out the injuries and the fact that we were losing. He's solid, and he was just coming off that series where he went toe to toe with Lebron. And if Eddy Curry kept on puttiing up seasons where he averaged 19 and 7, as only a 24 year old, while showing a ton of potential as an all-star level center, then that wouldn't be too bad of a deal. And yea, the guys he brought in couldn't mesh together, but the talent level was raised. If you look back to the '04-'05 season, we were right there in the playoff picture, til Jamal went down with that injury in December I believe. Its just a bunch of unfortunate things that happened to the knicks, 4get the sex garbage, if we were winning that wouldn't matter, or should I say been just a minor nugget, but in NY, add in the losing, that thing get blown up with the media around here.
And if you look at a lot of good teams, the best players have the ball in their hands. Talent learns to co-exist with eachother and sacrifices for the good of the team. I'd take Marbury and Crawford any day, before I take Marbury and Kapono.

the jared jeffries deal was

the jared jeffries deal was praised by many the when it happened by the way, i remember reading articles how it was a steal. Curry was dominant for a few years before he became lazy and had a lot of tragic problems in his life, not isaiahs fault. marbury led the rebirth of the knicks for a short period before he also lost his mind. the problem was he was pressured to rebuild on the fly and things didnt work out. when he was making these trades though not many were complaining, he wasnt kahn just doing stuff that didnt make sense. had curry stayed healthy we would not be having this convo right now.

Relax he won't have final say

Relax he won't have final say on any moves but he'll help with player recruitment and he's a good judge of talent. He's had better luck in the draft than many GM's. Just be happy he's not GM or any high level position. Hopefully they get the former GM of the Nuggets or KP to be the new GM. Nothing is happening till around the trade deadline most likely. Walsh did a pretty good job outside of the Jeffries trade, Amare, Felton, Randolph, Turiaf, Azubuike, Mason are nice additions. Also they do have either their own pick or Houstons in 2011 but don't have a 2012 pick.

as long

as long as he isnt writing the checks Im ok with it. Hes Dolans boy, so Dolan just wanted to hook him up with a little side job it seems. Plus this deal still has to be approved by the league.

Is Dolan RETARDED? You dont

Is Dolan RETARDED?

You dont treat your bizness like a forgive & forget type of thng...They better be glad they play in the World's largest media market..becuz if they had been in a city like Memphis or Indiana they would've went bankrupt..Zeke put that franchise in hole for years..and now that walsh has them heading in the ight track he gives Zeke a passenger seat? i know Zeke was given a minor role as a concultant..but Dolan seems to have a man-crush on Zeke..Its a matter of time before gives him the keys again...

Isiah Thomas appear to be

Isiah Thomas appear to be still with the Knicks for some time as a consultant and what not so what is the big deal.

Isiah Thomas has skills that if controlled and managed correctly can reap huge dividends.
