jerb2011ParticipantWho is he and why does he keep popping up as late 1st-mid 2nd in all of these mock drafts? I’ve never heard of him.

TRC1991ParticipantI haven’t seen much of him but he’s a European 7-footer who can dribble a little and shoot a little so he obviously gets recognition and nametagged a potential “dirk nowitzki 2.0″…but really, he’s probably one of the better big men in Europe who has decent upside…i’ve just never seen him play

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantHe has been a consistent name to appear over the past two or three years at the European U18 and U20 tournaments, and given his minimal history against grown men it must be that body of work that impresses NBA team. Now, history would indicate that drafting based on how a player did at junior levels is shaky, but he has two more years on his contract in Germany. It would be a pick for the future with the benefit of saving money now. It means whoever takes him gets two years of pay-free development by Bamberg with them probably only intervening if Pleiss and the German national team offer him up for the NBA summer league. At a certain point in the draft, a team might very well want to take that minimal risk on a 7’1 center with a big wingspan and some skills.

khaled_a_dParticipantI read a lot about him b/c just after Mavs 1st round exit D Nelson traveled to Germany to scout both him and Ohlbrecht ,but all what I’ve watched was youtube videos so here is what I got from the reports
unlike what you expect from 7’1 German big man he has almost never been compared to Dirk b/c his game is much different and he is a true C
he has a good jumper though and Nelson say he really liked it
considered to be good rebounder and shoot blocker but he is still very raw at both ends
