borlackParticipantwell since they are so many point guards in the draft they should take best available and most likely to be effective immediately. another thing i think they should do is sign and trade marvin williams for a good potential role player, maybe someone like a nocioni for good shooting a defense. this would help move smith to his natural position at the three. i also believe they should sign a true scoring center perhaps memhet okur. and maybe they can get something for acie law, he has been given time nor develop to his expectations. and they need to pick up a veteran pg. perhaps sign bibby once again or get chris duhon.
the teams outlook
PG: Bibby/Duhon
SG: Joe Johnson
SF: Josh Smith
PF: Al Horford
C: Memhet OkurBench:
PG: whoever they draft
SG: Flip Murray
SF: Maurice Evans
PF: Andres Nocioni

2K_DAVISParticipantdon’t trade marvin i wouldn’t mind our lineup except have bibby off the bench with rookie pg startin. we needto keep the team the way it is

UNC4eva8806ParticipantSmith is not a 3 he’s a undersized power forward, you have to own somewhat of a jumpshot (shot 29% from 3pt range and 58% from the free throw line) to be a 3 and Josh doesnt have that. Marvin has developed each year and ATL should keep him for the future, if anything they should package josh smith and try to get a center so Al Horford can move to his natural postion of PF. Along with trading Josh Smith they should draft Ty Lawson to back up Mike Bibby and take over in the future

QlbdecaturParticipantIm going to throw something out that may sound radical. The hawks should trade Marvin Willimas and their 2 round pick for a 1st round draft pick. They should then sign Shaq in the offseason which would make the starting line up:
C-Shaq
PF-Horford
SF-Smith
SG-Joe Johnson
PG-LawsonWith 2 first round pic they should they should get Mullens and their bench could be:
Flip
Mullens
Evans
Law/Bibby0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/31/2009 - 9:50am #154828
ghostfaceParticipantThey should take a seminar on how to play in half court situations. They should also taser Josh Smith every time he takes a jump shot.

KiD MaGiC973Participantdont trade marvin williams or josh smith try to get memo draft teague or trade up for curry

JNixonParticipantYou said dont give up Josh Smith or Marvin but you said trade up..they would have to trade one. Josh Smith and Marvin Williams would just be all-stars when they get traded or better players than they are now. The Hawks have a history of trading players and they get alot better when they leave (ie. Boris Diaw, Jason Terry). I really want them trade up to get Jonny Flynn, I would go to EVERY SINGLE HOME GAME next year.

QlbdecaturParticipantJoe Johnson will be a free agent after next season so the hawks will have some tought decisions to make because I can see the Knicks making a run at Lebron and have Joe Johnson be his Robin.

MelParticipantAs much as I love his game, I think Joe stopped going to the rim hard after he broke his face during the 2005 playoffs. He can play but it doesnt help that Woodson only has one play in the playbook: Iso-Joe. Its so predictable and its not like he is super-quick to begin with. He gets doubled almost every game and Woodson doesnt make the proper adjustments.
He only plays Bibby who couldnt guard his shadow if he wanted to. Joe usually has to do that. Bring the ball up. Create for himself and others and play 40 minutes a night. People complain he played like sh!t during the playoffs but its not like Woodson draws up plays to maximize his athletic players’ abilities.
Before the Hawks can get any better, they need a coach who can draw up actual plays

BubblebuttParticipant“They should also taser Josh Smith every time he takes a jump shot.” Imagine if you will the Hawks in practice. Josh Smith blocks a three point shot Horford grabs the ball gives it to Biddy and there off and running. Biddy gives it to Joe Johnson who gives it to Marvin Williams for a sic left handed dunk jumping out side the key. My point is this team can be uber exciting and I heard a comment “They should take a seminar on how to play in half court situations.” and it’s true but I’m saying they could be so exciting that they should run the floor and or get out and run. Not focus to much on half court play. Mel that was great point Joe Johnson does not get his talent shown off nearly good enough.

Johnny_HazeltineParticipantThe Hawks should wait until the FA period to secure their PG spot (see Bibby, Sessions, Miller, Jack) because all the good PGs will be gone (and please quit pretending Jeff Teauge is a PG).
They should package their #19 pick, with the combination of any of Josh Childress’ rights, Marvin Williams’ rights, Speedy Claxton’s expiring contract, Acie Law, or even Josh Smith, yes, Josh Smith, and then go after a big man in this order:
1. Chris Bosh (better attitude than…
2. Amare Stoudemire
3. (space for separation in talent)
4. Tyson Chandler
5. Chris Kaman
6. Samuel DalembertThis would allow Horford to play the 4, and give the Hawks a more improved front line.

Johnny_HazeltineParticipantThere’s no reason for him to. He fits too well there.

MelParticipantI thnk somebody touched on this earlier but I think both can be had. Milwaukee is near the luxury tax. There are a couple ways this can go down. Both Ramon Sessions and Charlie Villanueva are free agents. We CAN snag one of them up. If somebody offers one of them a contract and Milwaukee matches then we go after the other because they wont sign both.
The Clips obviously dont need Randolph/Kaman/Camby. I dont want Randolph or Camby for obvious reasons so we can get Kaman, I think.
Sund can answer many questions this summer. If we sign Sessions, trade for Kaman. I say we draft Teague if he’s available. I really like his game. I remember early in the season when he lit up Lawson for 34 pts. Its not his fault Wake dropped off at the end. When he was the starting point they were ranked #1 then the injured point guard came back and they moved him to the 2-guard. Its not his fault!!!
