Mack chooses draft over Butler

After leading Butler University to consecutive Final Fours, junior guard Shelvin Mack has decided to stay in the 2011 NBA draft, a source with knowledge of the decision told Yahoo! Sports.

Mack started to inform people of his choice on Saturday and is expected to hold a news conference with his college coach, Brad Stevens, on Tuesday in Indianapolis. The deadline for underclassmen to stay in the draft or return to college is Sunday.

Front office executives and scouts project Mack as a late first-round to early second-round pick. Mack has set up a final round of meetings with three agents – Octagon, Doug Neustadt and Andy Miller – to meet with his family in Louisville in the near future.

In his final season at Butler, Mack averaged 16 points and 40 percent shooting for Butler. As a sophomore averaging 14 points, Mack shot 45 percent from the field and 39 percent from the three-point line.
