JoeWolf1The Maverics signed Drew Gooden, I think they have had a pretty good offseason so far with Kidd running the show, and guys like Howard, Dirk, and Terry who have already played in the system, plus adding Marion to boost rebound and front court production was key. Gooden was that extra veteran backup they needed since Orlando matched the Gorat offer. I definitely think Dallas is going to be in the mix late in the playoffs in the west next year, LA, and the Spurs have to be the favorites, but the re-vamped Mavs i think will be improved, and will be fighting for the 3rd spot with Denver next year

j1232eParticipantgreat offseason gooden signing helped more than the gortat signing (over priced) I still think they will be a 4 seed behind portland. denver being a 6 seed.

spencerishawesomedoesnt matter, they’re just wasting money.. No championship for them anytime soon.

JoeWolf1That is what a team is supposed to do, Its so hard to win a title, I think they were smart moves, addressing issues with team weaknesses, It may not pan out as far as winning a title, but it something to build from. Plus signing Gooden and trading for Marion are not going to break the bank, they got good players for what they spent

CameronCrazieParticipantAtleast they are making an effort to get better most teams are just sitting their not signing or trading someone

spencerishawesomeits wasting money when unless kobe, howard, lebron, dwight, duncan all get injnured for the whole season the Mavs have a big fat ZERO chance of winning the championship. Kidd is a shell of what he used to be, Marion works best in an up-tempo offense, Gooden plays terrible defense. Congrats Cuban, you made moves that make you a few games better immediately but in the long run has at best not changed a thing.

KevinDurantRocksParticipantThey were all injured last season and yet there still not proven so dont jump the gun but i think they have a slim chance if all are playing best

JoeWolf1I hear what you are saying hawes, but If that team didn’t make any moves they would fall out of relevancy at all, just getting older and declining, I know they probably won’t win a title and didn’t get younger, but winning a few more games and staying relevant is going to keep them in the top of the West, allow them to sign better free agents, Gooden and Marion are not on long term deals, and adding them helped the rebuilding process that they started after they lost to the heat in the finals. They need to get younger i agree, Beabolis could replace Kidd if he pans out, They could package either one of those guys(Gooden/Marion) for a lottery pick next year too

j1232eParticipantgood moves, cuban still has to win games to put people in the seats. no way wasting money.

spencerishawesomeI just dont like Kidd for them, he’s too slow cant d up opposing PG’s anymore and im pretty sure his deal isnt short or cheap… They need to move a slightly more up-tempo game to make better use of their assets and that aint happenin with Kidd.

JoeWolf1do you guys think Beobolis will pan out in a couple years? i think he has some potential to be that guy, but is going to have a hard time getting many minutes with Terry, and Barrea coming off the bench at pg

auberParticipantAny team with Dirk Nowitzki will never win a Championship.

McWinningParticipantlol i can bet you’re drunk. i think the Mavs are the 3rd seed i just dont think they have enough firepower to beat the Spurs, or Lakers though.

Sorry.Winning.ParticipantI think the only way a team with dirk could possibly win a championship is if he was moved to small forward because as much as it may hurt to admit it i know he has no back to the basket skills or real big man moves, but the mavs have marion now so maybe his versitility on defense will let fix dirks defensive liability even though he gets 100 blocks a year
