On this site I have been critical of Rubio. But to me, If he is the easier player to get, I would go add Rubio. I think Sessions can provide more off the bat but I think Rubio for next season can provide us some flair and can provide another young player that NY can flaunt for Superstars to play with

have rubio because first hes 18. sessions is 23. rubio is compared to steve nash. we all no how nash ran dontonis system. rubio has potential thats for sure. he has a lot if wholes of his game aswell. but that will come in his time. his D will probably bebad. but i see him running a offense really well. his shooting will become GREAT. rubio will be an allstar. i see this move being great for thier future. if they get him and if he lives up to hype he will atract superstars. knicks will be dumb to go after anyone but sessions or rubio.
Me neither I think it's the most likely scenario, to get equal talent in return. The T'Wolves also need wing scoring and Dantoni has Gallinari for the future and he loves Rubio
I think you have to take Rubio if you get the chance over Sessions. I like Sessions a lot, but Rubio is the perfect fit for NY and for D'Antoni's style. He's flashy and the guy plays hard. I am thinking that any smart GM would want Chandler in a trade for him. That is also probably the only guy of substantial value to the T-Wolves that is on that roster though.
If the Knicks trade for him, they will pay the buyout and he will play in 2009
they would not give up much. Maybe Chandler and Jefferies for Rubio and maybe Carney
Well the TWolves are not going to take Jefferies or Curry so scratch them out. Also the Knicks won't trade Gallinari. The only options really are Wilson Chandler & Jordan Hill. The Knicks may have to give up both of them to get Rubio. Yeah I would take Rubio over Sessions. Rubio is a perfect fit for that system. I also don't think Minnesota would want Larry Hughes or Harrington.
there has been lot of talk about rubio an NY and i first bellive rubio is traded and playing for NY when he wears the jersey!
but one thing: please keep chandler and trade that italo boy!
I'm not so sure the Wolves wouldn't take Curry or Jeffries. They could still use some size and Curry or Jeffries would both be at least serviceable big men. I can't see the Wolves being a factor in 2010 free agency, so I don't think it would kill them to take on a contract. Worst thing that happens is you have some trade bait for 2011.
The things is Minnesota is in great shape as far as their contracts are concerned. They don't have a single bad contract on their team. Most of them expire after this season. TWolves definitely don't want to take on any long term contracts unless they are getting a star. Knicks don't have any stars. So really all the Knicks can offer is young talent.....which comes down to Hill &or Chandler.
As far as Nate is concerned it really comes down to what type of contract he is willing to sign. Minnesota probably doesn't want to pay him much....they want to have as much cash as possible available for 2010 free agency. Sure Nate would be a fun player for the fans to watch but he wouldn't help out that team significantly.
ckowalski- The TWolves are focused on 2010....wether they can land a big free agent then remains to be seen. Why would the TWolves want to take on one of those terrible contracts in Curry or Jefferies while giving up Rubio in the process? That doesn't make sense.
they would take Jefferies....and Chandler.
PG-Flynn
SG-Chandler
SF-2010 1s round pick (maybe favors)
PF-Love
C-Jefferson
I think they can add a Joe Johnson for the right price.
I haven't seen anything saying they were focused on trying to land a big name free agent in 2010, just figured with a young team they would give them a year or two to run together and see what they have. If they are focusing on 2010 then I wouldn't take on Curry or Jeffries, if they aren't I wouldn't see a problem with it.
Haha no way would Minnesota trade Rubio for Jefferies & Chandler.....that is crazy. The TWolves are not that stupid. Rubio has more value than that. Rubio > Chandler....so why take on a bad contract in Jefferies which takes away money the Wolves could spend in 2010?
"At a minimum," says Kahn, "I expect we'll be $10 or $12 million under the cap in the summer of 2010. If we have that cap space, and we can spend judiciously on a player who will help our team, we are absolutely ready to spend that money."
In deference to that cap space, Kahn says that he will not take on any more contracts that last beyond next summer, and is "pretty much done with major changes to the roster" beyond "some pruning and trimming."
Here is the full article if you want to read it: It is pretty interesting.

QHaynes- man you are trippin right now......I promise you the TWolves will not give up the 5th pick in the draft with tons of potential for Chandler & a bad contract....that is ludicrous...absolutely makes 0 sense
Rubio would be cheaper and probably bring a nice style of play then sessions. He is younger and probably other players would want to play with him come the end of this season .
Dude, Chandler almost was traded for the 5th pick this year!
We have not seen Rubio play. I said before, I do not see him as this mega All-star. Chandler at best is a future #2 option for a team.
I have seen Rubio play a little bit actually.
He is good but the weaknesses are there- poor jumper, lack of strengh, below average defender....yea he played pro ball since he was 14...but has he seen a LBJ or a Wade overseas? I think....NOT!
Chandler is the most realistic trade option for rubio. You will definetly see him in a deal. It will probably be
Chandler/hughes
for
Rubio / corey brewer/ mark blount
I know it doesn't........but probably some other players in the deal. His contract does expire this year and gives the timberwolves a legitimate starting two. Ellington is not ready to start.
Why would Minnesota want PF when they have more then enough. he probably won't even start and the knicks really like this guy. I doubt they will trade him.
You might see a 3 team trade ?
Here is what i think
NYK Trades: Chandler / david Lee /2nd round pick
Timberwolves Trade : Rubio
Portland trades : Fernandez/webster
NYK Recieves: Rubio / Fernandez
Timberwolves Recieve: Chandler /webster
Porland Recieves: Lee ( Sign and Trade) / 2nd round
because Hill can play defense, he can also play PF/C, he also provides length in the post.......Minnesota needs all these things badly. Blount, Songaila, & Percherov aren't going to be around for long. They are all non-facotrs anyways. TWolves need quality post depth for the future.
wether Hill starts or not is irrelevant. Lots of good players come off the bench. He isn't ready to start now anyways.
I think the Knicks would trade Hill for a chance to get Rubio.
Portland nearly got Milsap for a ridiculas Contract.......he is not even as good as lee. This sounds fair from all angles and it would be pretty nice seeing rudy and rubio playing together
What about this trade? Do you think both teams would do this deal?
Knicks get: Rubio, Corey Brewer, 2nd round pick 2010
Wolves get: Chandler, Jordan Hill
I love this trade. thumbs up
but only if NY can keep Lee long term

This might be good news......The knicks are trying to work out a trade with the timberwolves to be bring PG ricky rubio over. The knicks have closed all meetings with free agent Point guards for a week. This week david khan is also going back to spain to go resume talks with rubio.
A Insider said that "The Knicks have closed off negotiations with all free agent point guards until next week. I think they're making a push for Rubio and if that fails, then they'll reopen talks with their other options," says the source.
Would you like rubio to come to NYC Or Sessions ?
