Most talented college teams to not win it all
2006 UCONN i believe(the team that lost to George Mason)...not looking at the internet so this is off the top of my head, dont rip on me if im off a little bit
C- Hilton Armstrong---Pro, Decent Backup
PF- Josh Boone---Pro, When given opportunity to play has shown he can play at this level
SF- Rudy Gay----All-Star Pro now----Future Superstar in the Pros
SG- Denham Brown--Not a pro but good in college
PG---Marcus Williams---Probably their best college player---Has splashed around in the pros
Plus a bench of Jeff Adrien and A.J Price and this is one of the best college bball teams ive ever seen
2008 Memphis team, if only they made there free throws.
didn't Florida lose it one year with Brewer, Noah, Horford and some other top named players.
Also, Jerryd Bayless, Chase Budinger, and Jordan Hill are really talented players, but never did anything when together.
'99 Duke would of gotten '06 UConn I think.. they were crazy.. '05 Illinois... but i think the best ever would be the '91 Runnin Rebel's. even though they won the title the year before they we're even better the next year and their like only loss was in the 'ship
Their team boasts with a line up of Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison, Ed Cota, Makhtar N'Diaye and Brendan Haywood (oof the bench)... They failed to make it to the Championship game losing to Arizona in the Final Four...
1987 Syracuse. That team was pretty good: Rony Seikaly, Derrick Coleman, Sherman Douglas, and if I'm not mistaken Billy Owens was on that teams as well. They were one shot away from a title
Memphis choked big time. I would have a real hard time knowing I was that close to a national title and blew it.
I really don't agree with the NCAA's punishment of erasing the record of Memphis ever being at the Final Four for that fraud case... I mean, it's pointless... The game has been televised... It was one of the most exciting Finals game in NCAA history and they erase it from the record books... I just don't agree with that consequence... They could have punish the team on future building or somewthing like that but NOT on something that happened in the past...
fizer, I would agree normally. But I believe that was the all time recrd for most wins in a season in the history of college, so it really is actually knida a solid punishment. They will no longer be recognnized as holding a very prestigous record.
They have no proof that Derrick Rose did not take his SAT so they shouldnt have punished Memphis at all with out proof. Even if he did cheat why would they do that to Memphis and not to Kansas or Duke? The NCAA is biased if this was Duke or Kansas nothing would have happened.
They have no proof that he cheated and they had proof that Arthur and Maggette cheated and they did nothing so why did they punish Memphis when they have no proof?
I don't know every detail, but are you saying they just punished memphis for no reason? I'm sure they had pretty good proof if they did it. And I haven't heard Rose stepping up and denying it either.
because John Calipari has a record of allowing shady stuff go down...do i think it's fair? No but it does seem wierd how he left and the allegations grew (they originally came out in April)
The only thing they found was that he took it in Detroit and his handwritting looked different. The handwriting experts said he probably cheated but could not tell for sure he could have took handwrittnig classes and the SAT could be easier in Detroit or he could of thought the ride would give him more time to study. Sure its fishy but still you shouldnt punish a school when you have no proof. And when they had proof with Arthur and Magettee they did nothing so why punish Memphis if you dont have any proof and when you do have proof that another school cheated they did nothing it doesnt make sense to me. I hope Memphis sues them for being biased.
well, I have read numerous online reports that columnists all around the nation have said it appears obvious memphis cheated. And I have yet to hear Rose come out and deny it. I seriously doubt the NCAA committe just throws punishments out without solid evidence. So I'm gonna have to think you are being biased and are wrong on this situation. Why would the committe show bias against memphis? I'm not buying that either.
Rose did deny the alligations
Derrick Rose is from Chicago...why take a SAT in Detroit to get into Memphis?
Its too fishy and the John Calipari thing.
Also, Robert Dozier had taken a SAT to go to UGA and scored like 1600 (estimated) and they denied him due to his HS grades and he did not wanna take a 2nd test.
he took at Test at Memphis and scored 700 points lower and they took him....fishy biz to me
Its fishy sure but they have no proof. You are allowed to take the SAT in another state. He might of studied really hard and passed it. And the NCAA clearing house cleared him to play TWO times.

If I was Rose, and I knew I didn't cheat, then I would absolutley take the NCAA to court for defamation of character as well as for unfair punishment for his former school. He should be all over the news protecting his innocence and saving face if he took that test legitimately and earned that score. I would protect my name at all costs.
If you are right, then why am I not hearing more discussion from ANYONE about how wrong this is. Calipari, Rose, the media, memphis, the NCAA, everyone is being pretty quiet and taking this thing in stride. It makes me assume it is a legit punishment. These things don't just materialize out of thin air on there own.
Rose and Memphis have denied the alligations and Memphis is appealing it and they are going to try to get there wins and money back. I dont knoww if Rose will sue or not but he would be quiet about if he was because normally if you have a legal case your lawers will tell you not to talk about it to the media.
well, if that's the case, then I hope he and memphis clear their name if it is in fact bogus. But with my lifelong experience watching sports, I just see so many people cheating in all areas of sports, that I don't automatically assume Rose is innocent. It's nothing against Rose or memphis. I just think the NCAA would be very cautios before making a final verdict on this type of punishment. If they say they have enough evidence, then I believe them. If I'm wrong, then I wish memphis the best of luck.
I think last year's Wake Forest team could go down as possibly having the most talent to not get out of the first round:
James Johnson (NBA player)
Jeff Teague (NBA player)
Al Farouq Aminu (future NBA player)
Tony Woods (possible NBA talent)
Ty Walker (possible NBA talent)
yeah that unlv team the next year after they won it..even though thoses in the know know why they lost that gam...if we gonna do possibel nba talents then we would be here all day with some of the top teams.....michigan when they got that new fab five had a bunch of possible nba talents
HOOOLLLY CRAAAP!!!!
WHERE IS 96-97 KANSAS!!! They lost 2 games all year, including a heartbreaker to Arizona in the elite 8.
There whole starting lineup had careers in the NBA
Jacque Vaughn
Billy Thomas
Paul Pierce
Scott Pollard
Raef LaFrentz

What are some of the most talented college teams to fail in the tournament? Extra credit if they didn't even get to the final 4.
I would like to submit the 1998-99 UCLA Bruins. They had 7 guys who played in the NBA, 5 McDonald's all Americans, and 2 lottery picks, along with some solid depth and role players.
Starting 5
f-Sean Farnham
f-Jaron Rush
c-Jerome Moiso
g-Earl Watson
g-Baron Davis
bench
Dan Gadzuric
Matt Barnes
Ray Young
Billy Knight
Travis Reed
Rico Hines
Ryan Bailey
This team was stacked and didn't even get out of the first round. Who else you got?
