Monta Ellis unwilling to share backcourt with Stephen Curry

monta ellis needs to grow up. he is paid a ridiculous amount of money to sit around and whine so much. and he better get over too cuz it wont be but a few more years and steph curry is the starting PG for that team

Yeah I admit I thought a few months ago that Golden State was going to make the playoffs but I have officialy changed my mind for good reason.  #1 Ellis is always complaining.  If he can't run the show by himself & be the main ball handler then he is going to be upset. #2 Stephen Jackson wanting to be traded. Is he really going to give 100% this season? I doubt it. #3 It looks as  though McGrady is pretty healthy. Plus the Rockets got McCants.  Yep, I'm taking Houston as my new 8th seed.

 Warriors need to trade Ellis & Jackson. It is time to move on.  Curry, Morrow, Randolph, Wright, Biedrins are the future.

You cant win with 2 guys who are not defensive minded. Ellis is this team's PG. I say move Jackson add a cheap guard ( Gerald Green) and run this team

I agree with Ellis. He has said since day one of summer that he wanted to play pg and the team would not succeed with him at the 2. It would be too much of a defensive liability in my opinion. But ultimately he needs to do whatever is asked of him. I don't think it will be a real issue anyways because I don't see Curry starting. Ellis should play pg, with jackson, maggette, Morrow, and Azubuike sharing minutes at the 2-3 spots. Curry will get some minutes off the bench, but not as much as some people on here predict I think.

I was thinking the same thing...his injury was because he was doing what he signed a contract not to do. I think Ellis is immature, and I think he'll be moved. Maybe with Jackson, maybe not. But it had nothing to do with winning games, he just wants to take the majority of the perimeter guys' shots.

him the right to say that thou? players get drafted every year to play with other players, whose monta ellis?what has he done in the league.. if he was a good teammate he would welcome curry with open arms.. ellis is without a doubt a very good talent but why can he say he doesnt wanna play with him, hes just showing everybody that hes selfish and hard to work with..he should at least prove something to the league (besides he can get hurt) before he makes outlandish comments like this

Ellis is trying to get traded. So he is being an A- hole. Also I dont think he wants to guard 2 guards full time. With Curry playing either spot, Ellis will have to guard most two guards. With Baron Davis, Ellis did not have to do this all the time. Also Ellis could be spoiled and now that he has gotten money but screwed over, he is jealous that Curry is Nelson's guy.

man this team has loads of talent but their not tough enough they could be a nice fast break team they have a lot of speed and versatility.

Monta Ellis is not going to stay at Oakland. Whenever they move Ellis, Maggette, and Jackson, it will be a rebuilding mode for the Warroirs.

ellis is selfish. he didnt want them to draft a pg. he doesnt want share the backcourt with curry. cause he know curry is the better shooter. i like ellis but if i was the warriors i just sit down and talk to him and say hey if you dont change your attitude i'll trade you.

I see we have a lot of hypocritical people on here... I didn't hear anybody saying Westbrook was selfish or complaining when he didn't want the Thunder to draft Rubio and that he wanted to be the team's point guard. When news broke that the Thunder were interested in Rubio, he appeared on the Jim Rome show and said the team should draft Harden.

I can understand where Ellis is coming from. The team committed to him, signed him to a huge contract and declared him their point guard of the future. They then turn around and draft another player who basically plays the same position. I'd be a little upset too.

Here's what Ellis needs to realize though... He's a professional. You can't go complaining through the media. He also needs to understand that he messed up big time with the whole moped incident. He needs to regain the organization's faith and trust. His pride has taken a hit, but he just needs to accept the competition and play ball.

Love Montes game he is a really underrated shooting guard but he is selfish for this Curry and him would've ended up one of the deadliest back courts in the game especially with Currys IQ come on but Monte wants to be PG so badly now I see why Baron left Warriors are my favorite team trade MONTE!! I hate to say but trade him attitude stinks.

not saying it's going to happen anytime soon, but to bring out the best in Monta, i think he needs to play with a playmaker who is the size of an NBA shooting guard, such as Johnson and BRoy. Monta is not a playmaker and thrives best when playing off the ball. I say pair him with a playmaker who is the size of a shooting guard b/c on defense Monta would guard the point and the other guard would guard the shooting guards.

that's why I think Monta play really well with Baron Davis, b/c even though Davis was only 6'4", he was strong enough to be the one guarding Kobe, DWade, etc. And on the offensive side, Baron did most of the playmaking and Ellis played off of him and occasionally brought the ball up in isolation situations. He was able to focus on his strength of attacking the basket and just being a scorer for them. I think that really brought out the best in him.

Ellis is not really a point guard and I thought Westbrook was a lil selfish but it did make sense that they go with Harden so I did not knock the move. Ellis is not really a point guard so putting him at the point kind of hurts.

Curry is going to thrive in Golden State because of the fast break system yes he shot a low percentage in summer league but people forgot Derrick Rose did squat in summer league himself. Ellis doesn't play defense him self so what is he complaining about? He just wants to run point thats all it is hes been saying he doesn't want Golden State to draft a pg since the summer thats why he is mad he just wants to be a dominant ball handler.

He's just mad because he wants to start at the point guard. He knows that if him and Curry start in the backcourt, he'll be the one playing off the ball. Ellis is not even a point guard anyways so what's his problem.

The guys that complain need to just shut up and play basketball. You get paid millions of dollars to play a game that most of us love. Don't worry about who's getting drafted, just make sure you are playing as hard as you can and working on improving. There is nothing wrong with wanting to do what it takes to win, but he wasn't too concerned with that last year when he got hurt. There is no sense in essentially calling out a teammate, when the guy has done absolutely nothing wrong. Good teammates don't do that, especially to rookies. Older players are suppose to help the young guys out so that they improve and are able to be a big part of the team. Guys like Ellis never win championships because there is way too much Ego and a me me me attitude.

Who wants the next man to come take his spot! Just because Monta make millions does not mean hes not like everyone else, would anyone in this forum not respond the same way, if someone else is being groomed for your job? He has a right to be &$#%#&@! off, say what you want about Monta, hes a proven player in the NBA. Is he immature? Could he have handle this situation better? The answer to both question is yes, but examine what he said.

In all reality Monta is right, GS did not need Curry well not a small PG, picking him was a luxury not a necessity. We all know what GS is good at, GS gets into problems when they can't fast break. For a team with so much fire power it always fascinates me the problems GS have in the half court. GS needed a big who could not only run but if called upon provide scoring in the post, that way the player could score or kick out to he open shooter, or a big guard. If that big was not available in this draft they should have just moved up and drafted Evans. Evans is that kind of player who fits into the GS system, we know what skills Evans brings to the table.

By the way, I'm tired of GS always in a "rebuilding" process. I understand last year BD broke out and Monta did what he did. But what is Don Nelson doing???? Why is no one calling for his job? GS is always labeled as an up and coming team with potential and its the same thing every year. We knew GS had a problem in the half court since Nelson took over, why is it taking so long to fix? His son is the GM after all!

I do think that GS needed Jordan Hill much more than Curry, but they didnt pick him so no use in crying over spoiled milk. I dont think Curry is being groomed to take Ellis' spot, because I think Curry is being groomed to play PG. Ellis was a 2 guard and will always be in my eyes unless he touches up his playmaking skills for others. But I agree with Curry being a bad pick, but I also say Ellis should stop complaning and get over it....

They need to trade these guys, Jackson and Ellis are not what the team needs right now they need to go in another direction. I say trade them together or apart but get rid of them for something because their contracts suck, and nobody going to give you anything good for long term players with attitude problems.

I agree with Tezo 100%. I can understand people will right off rather quickly anything Ellis has to say about the organization with his moped fiasco right after signing a multi-year, 8 figure deal. But in this particular case, I commend Ellis' honestly. Despite being very blunt about it, he's speaking his genuine feelings that a Curry/Ellis pairing will not work (It does remind me of the Stephon Marbury/Steve Francis pairing). While rational thinking will say Curry should just be a bench player with the best veterans starting for the time being, I don't think that would happen because of the Curry's 7th overall draft selection and being deemed a "ready now" player. The Golden State organization might feel obligated to play him, as the franchise is spiraling down the wrong direction again. But yes, Ellis should be a professional and play for the organization that paid him. Gain their full respect, and they'll build the team in your favor.

But for argument's sake in the scenario both Ellis and Stephen Jackson cannot function with this team any longer, here's a trade idea that could work:

Jackson, Ellis, and Ronny Turiaf to Dallas for Josh Howard, JJ Barea, and Erick Dampier. Though Golden State appears to be getting the less talented end of the deal, Howard and Barea have team options on the final year of their contracts, with Dampier's being a nice expiring trading chip for the '10-'11 season. Worse comes to worse, they could begin to revamp in the off-season with Curry, Randolph and Biedrins being the primary focus of the team.

i dont think that trade would work finacially..plus gs giving all that up and getting back howard who is a 3, arent they grooming randolph for the future three?..if not then that trade could work

How do you know what Lebron weighs?? He wont tell anyone but you have the insight and know? He said Joe Johnson was 6'8 250 and he isnt. He is like 6'6 and idk what he weight. All I was saying is that he isnt that big. I never compared him to Lebron.

Joe Johnson is 6'7 240...maybe 245 at the absolute most. Lebron James is 6'8'' 265 or 270 at the most.

in today's preseason game b/w the warriors and the clippers, Ellis had a +/- of -5 today, while Curry had a +12 in the same game.

He said 250 plus. That means he could be 270, 280, 290. I know those arent reasonable but he left the door open. He could be, IMO, as big as 265 because he is a horse. He is alot bigger than when he joined the league, at 245. I got ya tho man. I see what you are sayin.
