You as a Basketball Player
age-30
europosition-wing foward power foward
height-6'5
weight-240
vert-36
strenghts- very strong going to the hole, high basketball iq and greatmidrange game. very good defensive player that works hard all the time
weakness-tends to not play help defense more concerned about shutting down his own man. emotions get out of control when his team doesnt match his intensity level. lacks consistant 3point shot
most effective- either as the main scorer or help scorer. loves checking teams best player, probably should play football..throw back physical player
signiture move-dc cross over pull up jumper,up and under on the block or power dunk from baseline
mine:
age 28 (haven't been able to play ball since I was 26 due to ankle surgery so I'm gonna base this off my prime of about 23 or 24 years old)
height:6-4 long arms, can easily palm a ball.
weight:200
position:anywhere depending on team needs although I preferred the pg spot
strenghts: knockdown shooter, passing and high BBall IQ, competitive, good with both hands, good combination of inside and outside game could play multiple positions.
weakness:terrible ahtlete, at 6-4 never dunked, could outrun most comp, but against D1 level guys I was a not blowing by many people.
most effective with ball
signature shot: 3's baby. Even against D1 comp, guys knew that you didn't leave me open. On the low box, I used an up and under with my left hand.
If I had to describe my game, I was a big man that loved to run point and worked non stop on my ball handling. I would'nt beat you with flat out speed, but I would throw a lot of moves at you with the dribble and get you off balance. I tried to be like those and1 guys with my handle.
Age: 16
Position: PG/SG
Strengths: I wouldn't say anything is a clear strenght that I go to more than another, I think my game is well-rounded.
Weaknesses: Handle isn't the best, and I have bad eye vision(literally)very bad, I tend to play at half speed but I don't know why. 99% of the time Im faster than everyone on the court.
How are you most effective( Ex:with or without the ball) When I have the ball, or weakside D
Height: 5'9
Weight: 133
Team Oriented: Very, but I do want to touch the ball ya know?
Signature Shot: My whole game
Age: 17
Position: Combo Guard
Strengths: Shooting. I'm a good shooter spot ups or off a couple dibbles. I pass pretty good and handle the ball OK. I'm kind of quick and shifty. I play smart and see the floor pretty good. I have like a 6'2" wingspan, which is good for my height and it helps me gets steals sometimes.
Weaknesses: I'm not a real good leaper, but I can get some shots off by shielding big men with the rim. I'm not quite strong either, so I can have trouble getting all the way to the rim in half-court plays in isolation at times...Sometimes I fall asleep on D.
How are you most effective( Ex:with or without the ball): Getting teammates involved and creating for myself...with the ball in my hands.
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 150
Team Oriented: More than I need to be at times
Signature Shot: One or 2 dribbles and then a floater from about 10 feet out..
I used to play for my schools team, but I got cut (hence the reason I'm able to get on here as much as I do) from the team because my coach was looking for more size and a more natural passer/PG.
Age:27
Height: 6'2''
Weight: 175
Position: Sf
Strengths: good natural athlete, 35' vert' in my prime, good in the open floor, strong for my size, good shot blocker and good mid-range game and post moves
Weakness: Not much of a ball handler, tweener in high school ball, have more of a post mentality for a small forward, poor 3 point shooter, and often rely on athleticism for rebounds rather than working for position.
Team Oriented: yeah, don't force a lot on offense, good help defender
Most effective: running the open floor and finishing, weak side defense
Signature shot: baseline fadeaway off the low block
My comparison would probably be Theo Ratliff, an undersized post who blocks a lot of shots, good mid range game and plays tough D
Age: 21
Position: Combo Guard (Mainly play the two though)
Height: 6'1
Weight: 195
Strengths: Shooting off-screens, 3 point range, scoring on fast-breaks, offensive rebounds (no-one expects the little guy) and passing.
weaknesses: Going to hoop in traffic, perimeter defense
Go-to move: Turnaround jumper from 12-15ft, Spot-up 3 point shooting
Most Effective: Outside shooter and hustler.
lol, I don't play every day when I used to so my hops are quite what they were. I can only pull the one handed white boy dunk right now, I used to have a lot more in my dunk arsenal.
Age: 26
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 150
Wingspan: 6'0"
Position: Combo Guard PG/SG
Team Oriented: Yes
Signature Shot: Probably a pull up midrange jumper on a fast break.
Most Effective: Playing with a smart PG that will pass me the ball when I'm open out at the 3 point line.
Strengths: I'm a pure shooter, that is my biggest strength. I'm also very quick on the fast break, I can pretty much run past anybody. Very high IQ. Lockdown perimeter defender. Pretty nasty crossover.
Weaknesses: I can't jump! You figure being so skinny I could jump fairly high but I can't. I can barely grab the rim (that is with a running start haha). Once again I'm skinny so bigger players post me up on the block often. Slow release on my 3 point shot...I'm a deadly shooter from long range but I have to be open. Ball handling...I can't dribble that well with my left hand.
Age: 16
Position: SG/SF
Weight: 160-ish
Height: 6'0-ish
Strength: I can really shoot, i been practicing my shot ALOT lately, and its been paying off
Weakness: My weakness is My weakness....im not the strongest guy around...i play tough, but i get bullied by the bigger guys..and i might hit the deck a couple of times in a game
Team Oriented: Honestly...not as much as I should be....
Signature Shot: Halfcourt Shot! not really...but i love chucking those up
Comparable Player: im not gonna say Kobe or anything like that....hmmmmm...Morris Almond-ish
So..i tried out for my HS team and didnt make it...(poor me..), but to my credit, 40 guys tried out, and only 16 made it, so the odds were against me...and anyone over 6'4 pretty much automatically made it
Age: 21
Position: Combo Guard
Strengths: Shooting. When I'm hot, I can shoot it for days!! Mid-range, long-range and also dead eye. I can easily get to the basket in two or three steps with an uncanny hesistation and smooth handle. I'm not fast at all, but quick dribbles and crossovers make me fundamentally sound so I can just flatout get to the hoop when needed. I'm stronger than smaller guards so I can post up or just muscle my way to the hoop.
Weaknesses: My height and also running strictly the point. I can bring it up if I absolutely had to, but my handle can get a bit sloppy at times.
How are you most effective: When I'm tryna get everyone involved.
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 210
Team Oriented: When my mind is set to it.
Signature Shot: Crossover, hesitation and drive or pull-up.
NBA Comparision: Paul Pierce
So does anyone here actually play on a basketball team? I know Q played at AB, I saw him play and he was pretty good, and then he played over seas. Im sure some of you are on a HS team and what not, but does/did anyone play college ball?
http://scanlanhs.edu/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=40599&type=d&termREC_I...
Im third to last, Michael with the long ass last name, even though they spelled it wrong. Also don't bother looking up my stats as I am not listed because I got kicked off for grades. : (
I was a 3rd stringer in highschool. Played all 4 years on some pretty good teams, but I was nowhere close to playing college ball. We had 5 guys from my senior year that played college ball and we went like 23-3, but my biggest contribution was working hard in practice and then being one of the only guys with a car so I could drive everyone home.
starter on my high school team, top 10 in my league in blocks, but my stats weren't jaw dropping. FHSU 2001 intramural dunk contest 4th place finisher. lol
Age:16
Height: 6'
Weight: 170
Position: Combo Guard, more natural SG though
Strengths: Deadly 3pt shooter and scorer with well beyond NBA Range. Even when covered. Good driving ability and mid range game, good passer/vision.
Weakness:Handle could be better, so could Defense.
Team Oriented: yeah, mostly a drive and dish player.
Most effective: with the ball, help D
Signature shot: Stepback 3. Shot fake, 1 or 2 dribbles then a pull up or floater.
Comparison: Jason Terry, undersized SG who can play a little pont but is a great scorer.
Or Wally Szcerbiak (or whatever) in college
I play on my highschool team, i live in Canada and we went to OFSAA(Ontario championships) last year,
im like the 6th/7th man and Im in Grade 11, i'll probably be one of the go to guys next year.
Position: Point Guard
Strengths: Usually the best athlete on the floor, end to end speed is probably D1 level. Finishing at the rim with the acrobatic play, great hops, good defender, very unselfish, can fit passes into tight spaces. Very tough to keep out of the lane. Likes to rebound for being so small and loves running the break. Breaking the press is very easy for me too
Weaknesses: Very bad jump shot, can be left open without much threat of it going in, not the best vision, I can make tough passes but I rarely find them. Sometimes just takes plain stupid shots, can disappear easily when I don't have the ball. Needs to know when and when not to be aggressive and learn how to move without the ball.
How are you most effective( Ex:with or without the ball) Most effective when in transition and with ball
Height: 5'9
Weight: 160
Team Oriented: Very
Signature Shot: Turnaround jumper/acrobatic finish at the rim
Comparison: Derrick Rose (with worse handles and less height)
Age: 22
Position: Combo Guard/Tweener
Strengths: A streaky shooter and is hard to stop once he gets going... Can stroke the 3's consistently in the same manner
Weaknesses: Easily frustrated when his shots aren't falling, tends to fall in love with the 3 point line instead of driving and penetrating when a situation presents, very poor defender tends to give up a penetration and rely on help defense, speed is above-average, ball handling skills are average...
How are you most effective: When he gets it going like shooting 5-6 straight 3's... Mostly has a scorer's mentality...
Height: 6' 0
Weight: 157
Team Oriented: Not much which is frustrating on his part...
Signature Shot: Three pointers
NBA Comparison: Eddie House
Age: 20
Height: 6'1
Weight: 200 (weighed 250 in February 2009)
Position: Shooting guard, although I do find myself inside whenever I play pick-up ball
Strengths: Can knock down outside shots consistently with my feet set. Great form on jumpshot, with high release. High basketball I.Q. Very unselfish. Stronger than just about everybody I play against, which allows me to easily box out and grab rebounds. Also allows me to get deep post position and seal my man off under the basket. Good finisher inside. Herky-jerkiness makes up for lack of footspeed and moves. Hard worker, I'm always looking to improve. 6'5 wingspan enables me to block shots and play the passing lanes. Calm demeanor, good teammate.
Weaknesses: Average athleticism. Stamina is still a big issue, even after weight loss. Am only effective for the first 15 minutes of a game. Confidence can fade after a few missed jumpers. The few moves that I have are effective, but very basic and predictable. I don't always bring a full effort on defense.
Most Effective: Spotting up outside for 3-pointers, scoring 1-on-1 in the post
Signature shot: One dribble into space-eating stepback through the legs, finished by a jumpshot
NBA comparison: Hard to say........
Age: 18
Position: PG/SG
Strengths: A All round point guard with great speed and unbelivable atlethism to get around any player. Very Deadly from Mid Range. Great Handles particularly in crossovers and has a high IQ Loves to play call when has the chance. Confindence is a big part of my game as i am not afraid to attack the Basket. As Far as Defense goes i am very Fierce When it comes to 1 on 1 defense is able to player much bigger then him as his not afraid and is a above average (but not great) ball Theif. Work Ethic is very high in that I always want to be the best on the court
Weaknesses: I think the Biggest Problem would be my Range is far from a good three point shooter which limits my offense. Often I don't play as well as my Potential with so much ability yet can't get the statistics. Sometimes selfish and puts up riduclous shots. A streaky shooter at times can miss alot. Often gets lost in the game causing tunovers. Pressure and Double teams become very detrimental to the team
How are you most effective: When I have an Effective Big Man
Height: 5'11
Weight: 69Kg
Signature Shot: The stop and pop mid range jumper
NBA Comparision: Demar Derozen/Kenny Anderson
Age: 14
Position: Combo Guard
Strengths: Driving. I use both hands dribbling or shooting. Usually drive and throw up a tear drop. Got hops for my size and im a pretty good defender. 6'3 or 6'4 wingspan. Big hands. Pretty good end to end speed. Once I get hot I dont stop.
Weaknesses: Shooting long range consitently.Very streaky shooter
How are you most effective( Ex:with or without the ball): With the ball
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 135
Team Oriented: I try to be. But if the teams not workin I tend to take over
Signature Shot: Fake behind the back layup ala Rajon Rondo. Tear Drop. Pull up J of the dribble mid range.
Been cut from the team 3 times. But I can hold my own against the top players on our team.
Age: 28
Position: Point Guard
Strengths: Shooting off the dribble, Rebound well for my size, quick first step
Weaknesses: Shooting is very streakie, depend to much on the dribble drive, too light need to eat my wheaties. (lol)
How are you most effective( Ex:with or without the ball) Most effective when I get my teammates involved.
Height: 6' 0
Weight: 160
Team Oriented: Very
Signature Shot: tough floaters in the lane
Age: 16
Position: small forward
Strengths: great rebounder i get good position, one of the best shooters you can find quick release, powerful in the post got the tim duncan hook shot down and the KG post fadeway great free throw shooter
Weaknesses: Stamina and athleticism which takes away from my perimeter defense and tend to take the 3 pointer then driving to the basket
How are you most effective( Ex:with or without the ball): running of screens or in the post
Height: 6' 0
Weight: 195
Team Oriented: yes definitely
Signature Shot: post fade shot ( like KG or L.A)
NBA comparison: Rashard Lewis with better post moves and free throw
age:22
position:pg
strengths: can make a consistent 15-25 foot jumpshot. on-ball d. finding open man. passing and ball handling. im a small guy so other teams pg's tried to post me up but im strong for my size so that rarely worked. hustler.
weakness: zone d. short-range shot. could use some work in stamina. not alota length so people just used to shoot over me.
most effective: splitting the d and finding open man. shooting.
height:5'8
weight:163
team oriented: very. pass-first pg.
signature shot: step back 3
nba comparison: sergio rodriguez
Age: 19
Position: I can play PG to PF, even C, since my competitions arent that tall
Strengths: effective scorer anywhere but the 3pt line, decent rebounder, works my butt off on D, dont really get tired
Weaknesses: Almost never use my left hand, not very athletic/quick, below average ball handling, etc.. (damn, too much weaknesses)
How are you most effective: Isolation in the post backing down, or finding teammates when playing PG Height: a bit over 6'3 with my shoes on
Weight: 195
Team Oriented: Very
Signature Shot: turn around jump shot in the post, bounce pass along the base line, crash the offensive board & finish with contact to create and one
Comparison: Andre Miller with bad handles and better post game
first of all, i never tried for school, i just played pickup games. =\, i wish i did.
Age: 20
Position: point guard
Strengths: i was an annoying ass defender....i really pi$$ed people off when they drove or shot the ball... i wouldn't say lockdown though. I knew when to swipe for a ball even if i was beat off the dribble...i've always had a nack for timing. I was a pass first point guard. very good conditioning..hardely got tired unless i had to setup multiple plays. I was rarely blocked even at 5'8, i found a way to shoot effectively over taller players.
Weaknesses: not a good athlete. i wasn't anywhere the fastest...not very agile due to ankle injuries through out highschool, i didn't jump the highest... if i had to guard someone with long arms it became an issue. not the best shooter, and definitely not a go-to player.
How are you most effective( Ex:with or without the ball) - containing my man or help defense...or creating a play.
Height: 5'8
Weight: 181
Team Oriented: medium+
Signature Shot: I loved to shoot a 3pt'er from the left side of the arc.
Age: 16
Position: Small Forward/Point Forward
Strengths: pull up jumpers and high post, passing, driving and finishing
Weaknesses: lack of effort on defence, take threes while being a below average three shooter
How are you most effective( Ex:with or without the ball) pick and role either with the ball or setting the pick
Height: 6' 5
Weight: 175
Team Oriented: hell no
Signature Shot: dunk (can dunk of a drop step pretty easily)
play somewhat like lamar odom i guess
Age: 15
Position: PG/SG/SF
Strengths: Shooting off dribble, floaters, court vision, post moves, naturally left-handed but great dribbling with off-hand, can dunk
Weaknesses: Streaky shooter, lapses on defense at times
How are you most effective( Ex:with or without the ball) I like to have the ball in my hands to make plays ala Allen Iverson
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 166
Team Oriented: Yes
Signature Shot:Pull up 15-20 foot jumper
Age: 27
Position: PG
Strengths: yo yo handles, court vision, mid range shot, on ball D, can dunk a basketball at my height. very quick.
Weaknesses: Streaky shooter from deep, size on D, defer to team mates to much at times.
How are you most effective( Ex:with or without the ball) I like to push the ball on the fast break and I am great in the pick and roll game.
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 162
Team Oriented: Yes, make teammates better, won state title in TX at girls and boys prep,
Signature Shot:free throw line jumper and baseline jumper
Went to Sam Houston State &$#%#&@! that up then ended up playing Juco ball and NAIA ball for small VT school. Hurt ankle and just now getting back to form athletic wise.
Age: 18
Position: SF
Strengths: Driving to the lane, aggressive rebounder, creating shots for teammates, tough defensively, post defense and offense
Weaknesses: Not an overly talented player by any means, im way more of an athlete than a basketball player. im muscular and can't shoot all that well...i'm playing lacrosse at Washington State University next year and b-ball's always been my 2nd sport, im physically too strong/thick to be a truly good player..didnt play in HS

is that the only weakness you think you have?..if you feel you are that good and dont have to work on anything then you've already lost the battle. personally ive never played past 2 years of division 3 basketball and now coach hs basketball but i do know that any time a player thinks they are already too good to work on all parts of there game then they will never make it to there goals. and always stay humble never boas. let others do that for you. just some friendly advice
anyway
age-25
ht 6'2
wht-200
strength- great jump shooter you cant leave open, great basketball iq
weakness..not fast no jumping ability
was always told id be a coach because i could think the game better then any player but my body couldnt do the moves that i thought of:)
I am 19, and I never played competitively on any level, but I want to coach so bad. That is some great advice you post. Also, as a player playing at parks and what not I always knew what I wanted to do, but could never execute, but I know the future players I coach will be able to. Thanks again for posting this.

Just wanted to start a topic of how everyone is or was as a basketball player. I will start out with myself
Age: 14
Position: Shooting Guard/ Small Forward
Strengths: Shooting off the dribble, catching and shooting anywhere up to the college three point line, drawing fouls, finding the open man, posting up on weaker/smaller defenders, scoring in transition or on the fast break.
Weaknesses: driving left handed, finishing in traffic, can get very emotional when something does not go right and can lose focus.
How are you most effective( Ex:with or without the ball) Most effective when I get my teammates involved.
Height: 6' 1 and a half, 6'2
Weight: 160
Team Oriented: Very
Signature Shot: 15 foot Jump Shot/ Fadeaway Jump Shot
