Tell me your all-star starters!
i would go ahead and put dirk in at pf for the west and also put joe johnson at gaurd over rondo. I know he's not a pg, but the all-star game is just any 2 gaurds and any 2 forwards, so i think JJ is better then rondo althou rondo is making me change my mind on how tough I've been on him. Duncan is better then dirk, but he is only playing 31 minutes and get's to rest a lot more while dirk has to do more. Otherwise , i agree with your list.
I had a hard time picking my reserves for the East, but for the West...
Chris Paul
Brandon Roy
Deron Williams
Kevin Durant
Dirk Nowitzki
Zach Randolph
Chris Kaman
hard to argue with your reserves but i would put pau gasol in before Kaman
they said he is expected back either sunday or sometime next week at the latest. By the time the month is over, he should have played in about 75% of the teams games.
also, on espn insider, mike dunleavy said that he has no idea why the media said blake was expected back on jan 20th and that no one within the organization has announced that date saying that it would very opptimistic for him to be back by then.
Give me what you have but take out Rondo and put Rose in there.
This is not who I voted for but these are the vote leaders and if the voting ended today these would be the starters
East
G- Allen Iverson

F- Lebron James
F- Kevin Garnett
C- Dwight Howard
West
G- Kobe Bryant
G- Tracy Mcgrady
F- Carmelo Anthony
F- Dirk Nowitzki
C- Amare Stoudemire
Obviously, Allen Iverson and T-Mac do not deserve to be here and our only here because they have alot of fans.
I wouldn't be surprised if Monta was left out at all. Deron Williams has never even made an All-Star team if I'm correct, and Melo hasn't played in half as any as he's deserved.
Maybe The Warriors record will keep Ellis out of the game but personally I think he is easily deserving. More so than Chris Paul this season, in my opinion. Barely, but I think Ellis deserves it.
Top 2 in steals, top 10 in points per game...I don't know maybe I'm biased but I want Monta in Dallas come February.

Seriously how are some of yall snubbing Rondo? Do yall not know who he is or something?
Derrick Rose is good, but Rondo is having a better year and Rondo is better at this stage of their career.
Joe Johnson is a second tier All-Star he doesn't deserve to start.
Rondo should be the PG for the east.
He is not at an all-star level right now. He is on a garbage team so not completley his fault but he isn't even close to being a starter over Rondo. Rondo is the biggest pain in the ass in the league on D haha
People just riding Rose bandwagon cause he starting to turn it up a little bit, seriously if Brandon Jennings was on the ballot Rose wouldnt even get consideration over him so no way he should be getting consideration over Rondo.
Thats why he got the business from Westbrook lol
I'll put it like Kenny Smith did last season... There are many All-Star caliber players, but there can only be 12 All-Stars. Ellis has definitely had an All-Star caliber season, but he's not an All-Star.
i agree.. he has allstar talent and in the past many guys have had allstar talent but the fact that they are on bad teams hurts them from being on the all star team. did jordan make the all star game every year he's been int he nba( minus his wizards days) does anyone know.. i havent checked yet.
Yes... I think Michael Jordan was voted an all-star every season of his career. Jordan's teams also made the playoffs every season, except for those two seasons with the Wizards.
when it's close between a couple guys, the coaches defenitely take a teams record into consideration. Al Jefferson was beasting it last year but didn't get in.

G- Kobe Bryant

F- Dirk Nowitzki
C- Chris Kaman
Reserves- Tim Duncan, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Brandon Roy. Last forward position, between Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer and Zach Randolph, last center position between Al Jefferson and Marc Gasol.
And Younddave, what makes JJ and second tier all star? He's a great shooter, passer, leader, good defender... he's about as good as Roy while contributing in every category...
you know what i forgot all about zach randolph hes putting up 20 and 11.. i think boozer gets the nod though sinc ehes putting up 19 and 10 and his team has a better record. thats gonna be the tipping point every time. gasol wont get it over jefferson.. mar at 14 10 and jefferson at 17 and 9. his past migh tplay a roll in him making it wit the coaches picking and they might feel gasol can stand to wait another year and have him in the rookie soph game

zach is playing better then boozer and there records are about the same aren't they?
yeah, the records are 19-16 for utah and 17-17 for mem. That's not much of a difference to give the edge to one guy based on record. Zach has been killing it this year and is the mvp of that memphis team. Boozer has always put up 20-10 but i think he is a little overrated.
Utah only has a two game advantage and both teams are just outside of the 8th seed. I think wins-losses in this situation is a wash. Randolph is playing better. He was a monster in December.
Should anybody off of Houston get consideration as an All-Star reserve due to their team's success? Their currently sitting at the 8th spot and almost EVERYBODY counted them out at the start of the season.
I really think Aaron Brooks and Carl Landry should get consideration. I'd pick Landry over Boozer if I was choosing. I think he deserves it more.
its judged by overall and there numbers are looking the same. the only reason people have been saying zach mor eon here is because of the 3 big games hes had but even with that his numbers are still around the same as boozers are. and that fact that hes been a allstar before tends to sit in coaches minds which is a good thing. boozer may have not had monster games but hes been more consistant through out the season else with those monster game zachs numbers would be much better then boozers. and yeah the records are what they are now but what happens if utah starts to pull away record wise bu all star break( and yes they do have the team to do it). i liken it to jennings and evans earlier. jennings had a couple of games that where big ( 55pointer comes to mind) but hes had some lows too while eavans has just been steady and constant which shows with how close there numbers are
brooks and landry have been great, but I'm not big on giving guys nods over more talented players just based on the team surprising people. If you look at my list, ican't see landry or brooks over any of those guys.
nah, zach has been bringing it all year. Boozer also went crazy one week where he was conference player of the week, so you can't act like zach has skewed stats cause of a couple big games. I have zach on my fantasy team and he has been my mvp this year shooting great numbers and even averaging a career high in assists at 2.5. Toss the stats and the records out the window and i think zach isplaying better then booz just watching them. Boozer is very good and it's an argument, but zach is having a career year and should be over boozer.
smits was actually putting up like 18 and 7 for a while. And there have been a large number of not very good big men who have made tha all-star team for the east because there just haven't been as many talented bigs out east in the past. Jayson Wiliams, tyrone hill, charles oakley, jamaal magloire, dale davis, christian leattner, all those guys made it due to lack of other superstar bigs available in the east. Not really because the team was that good.
I'm not saying the coaches will pick Landry over Boozer. It's my opinion that Landry deserves it more. I think he's been more valuable to his team and is a big reason why they're currently in the playoffs without two superstars. Kind of like you thinking Lopez should be a reserve on the East, over guys like Andrew Bogut and Joakim Noah, when his team hasn't won ten games. That's your opinion lol.

Who are your all-star starters at this point in the season? I don't want to hear who ESPN.com or NBA.com thinks they should be lol. I want to hear who YOU think the all-star starters should be based on your guidelines. Here are mine.
East
C - Dwight Howard: Not having as great as a season as last season, but he's still leading the NBA in rebounds and blocks, and Orlando is one of the best teams in the East.
PF - Chris Bosh: Kevin Garnett is the fan favorite, but Chris Bosh has played better this season. Age/injury has caught up with Garnett and Bosh has been a beast. Toronto is starting to pick up some steam. They're right on the Heat's heels for the 5th best record in the East.
SF - LeBron James: Obvious. LeBron is putting up another amazing season and the Cavs have quietly climbed to the top spot in the East and are the 2nd best team in the NBA.
SG - Dwayne Wade: He isn't having the kind of season he had last season, but he's still putting up amazing all around numbers. I want everybody to know that I SERIOUSLY considered Joe Johnson here. Johnson is averaging 20, 5 and 5 and the Hawks are an elite team in the East. This wasn't as easy as a choice for me as you may think.
PG - Rajon Rondo: I'm very critical of his shooting, especially his free-throws... But this kid can ball. It's arguable that he's the most valuable player on the Celtics right now. He's the best point guard in the East... Period.
West
C - Amare Stoudemire: The center spot in the West is wide open this season with Yao Ming out. Bynum was the leader at the beginning of the season, but faded when Pau Gasol returned. Chris Kaman has player very well and is having a career year, but the Clippers are a below .500 team. I went with Stoudemire because he's beginning to play like the man child of old and Phoenix is the 3rd best team in the West.
PF - Tim Duncan: He started slow, but has really picked up his play. A lot of people said he was done for at the start of the season and doubted if he could still be a 20 point, 10 rebound and 2 block player. You Well look up... That's exactly what he's doing lol. He's also averaging 3 assists. What's impressive is he's doing it in less than 32 minutes per game. The Spurs have quietly climbed to the 4th best record in the West. I actually had Dirk Nowitzki here at first... He's having a great season and the Mavs currently have the 2nd best record in the West, but my gut told me to go with Duncan.
SF - Carmelo Anthony: He's been injured as of late, but this man has been a beast this season. He deserves to start this season. He's been a scoring machine.
SG - Kobe Bryant: Obvious. In my opinion, he's the front runner for MVP. What hasn't he done? Huge numbers, game winning shots and the Lakers are the best team in the NBA.
PG - Steve Nash: This veteran's demise was greatly exaggerated. People on here said that he was no longer and elite point guard before the season started and that he'd dropped out of the top five. WRONG. Phoenix is the 2nd or 3rd best team in the West right now and Nash is having a MVP caliber season.
