Rose or Westbrook
Care to explain?
and I think that CP3 will be the best, but it will be very close between the 4 of them and Rondo.
I love Westbrook, but I have to give it to rose. Rose doesn't turn the ball over as much and i think he just has a better feel for the 1 spot. I think that Westbrook is going to end up a really good pg in the future, but he has to cut back the turnovers. Defensively is easily westbrook, but the distributing, shooting, and overall feel for the game goes to rose. Good argument though
That CP3,D-Will comparison is on the money, not in terms of style of play, but same draft, and they'll be competing against each other for there whole career
And they're the first 2 of the new breed of point guards that are super athletic
But I think Rose will always be better, but Westbrook has the better future based on who hes surrounded by..
Just think of Rose with KD. I think if Rose played with Durant he'd be much better too. Just my opinion. Rose just needs to learn to dedicate more to defense and to hit shots more consistently. He already is one of the best finishers in the league. Also, his scoring average should go way up this year, because I remember watching a lot of Bulls games last year where Rose wouldn't get calls because he was a rookie, and that's just the way the refs are. I'm not saying Westbrook is bad, but he definitely isn't on the same level as Rose. This is also all an opinion of a biased Bulls fan though...
This debate should probably end up the same as CP3 and D-Will definetly, because people still debate on who is better right now.
But the fact that they are from the same draft, and people should argue who is better for years just like that debate.
I think Rose will be the best pg in the game narrowly edging out guys like Paul, DWill, and Westbrook. His size and athleticism is unbeliveable. You can't press him full court. He get's into the lane with explosion and can finish tough contested shots. He just needs to work on his d and jumper a little.
Westbrook and Rose are two guys who can score and get to the hole just based purely on their quickness. The handchecking rules make them almost unstoppable along with Rondo Dwill and CP3.... the question will really be who will shoot better from the outside to add that extra dimension. which ever adds the consistent jumper first will be the better player. Rose has a little better awareness as a scorer here.
They're both also really good rebounders, which is the key to getting out on the break quickly. I think Russell has the slight advantage on the glass. And I also think he has better instincts on defense. he's tenacious and he'll never back down.
i think Russell takes it. he's going to be all over the place nxt year

I'd take Derrick Rose due to his far superior point guard skills. Russell Westbrook is improving his PG skills faster than most people thought he would but he will have to prove to me he can lead his team to more wins next season.
In terms of defense I think Westbrook is way better than Rose. Rose has defensive potential but he was abused by Rajon Rondo in the playoffs, (he abused Rondo too but that isn't the point).
They are similar athletes but I think Rose has better strength and body control. They are similar outside shooters but Rose already has his mid-range game down.
Westbrook has major potential, however, I think he is VASTLY overrated. I want to see him shoot over 40% from the field next season and work on that assist to turnover ratio. At this point in his young career he is a very inefficient player. Derrick Rose has the poise that you only see in special point guards.
I would choose Rose. He is a true pg as Westbrook is more of a scorer who happens to play pg, I also think Rose is a little more efficient. Westbrook shot really low percentages last year and was pretty turnover prone. Rose shot worse from 3 but was good from the field and the line most of the year. Rose also led his team to the postseason, Westbrook did have to play in the west though. I think both will be very good though.
Westbrook has more heart than Rose period. " The way you play Defense, shows the love you got for the game". I'll take Westbrook over Rose because of Defense and Westbrook is better than a lot of people think he is. He not a true point guard as rose but he can play point end of debate. People always you potential as a past for athletes excuse, as much as Westbrook do not got the true point ability as Rose, Rose do not have that ability Westbrook got on the Defensive end.
Adi, Rose has the ABILITY to be just as good of a defender as Westbrook, but I don't think he gives the effort like Russell does... could be due to RW playing for Howland vs. Cal... like i said before, russell plays with that bruin-tenacity.
Why going into the draft was everyone saying he isnt a PG they need to draft Rubio to be a PG there. WHY? Alot of you say now he will be a top PG behind CP3, Rose, D-Will. I am a huge fan of Russell Westbrook and D-Rose they both are so athletic and will lead two up in coming franchises.
What reasons do you have to question Derrick Rose' heart?
did i question his heart? i think what i said says more about RW's heart, especially for playing defense... i'd say most NBA players could take a page out of his book and would improve a lot if they played as hard as westbrook on the defensive end.
No not you, I am talking to Euroball, read the first sentence of his post. My bad for not saying who I was talking to though.
Derrick Rose is going to be better than Westbrook I think. Rose is the better passer, has more size, will break your ankles, finish either with a crafty layin or dunk and get the foul. And make the free throw. He also is an even better athlete than Westbrook. The only thing I see that Westbrook has over him is his defense. Neither one of them is anything good shooting 3's, but Derrick Rose at least has a decent mid-range game. Westbrook doesnt.
They're both great players who need a lot of work. Neither of them are top ten players yet. Westbrook needs to work on his shot and playing to distribute. If he can shoot 40% from three this year and get 8 assists a game then he'll be well improved. He doesn't need to be a scorer for the thunder right now. Rose can also work on his shot, defense, and his ability to will his team to victory. Westbrook doesn't need that cuz he's got Durant. Rose is the best player on his team and if he doesn't have a killer instinct late in games then they won't succeed. Based on what they need to improve on Rose is better. He very well may have a killer instinct and it just didn't show. Defense and shooting are easily fixed but Westbrook's overall point guard skills will take some serious tweaking. I give the edge to Rose.
I really doubt Westbrook is going to go from shooting low 30's to 40% from 3 this year, 40% is really good and I don't think his shot has improved THAT much.
I know Rose is ROY and very good player, but I don't like when people say he is easily best rookie, I think Westbrook is really close. Only thing that WEstbrook makes worse is his bad FG% and turnovers, all other is almost identical, both are big, strong, suoer athletic and fast pgs, Rose rebounds less, but in PO he has some games near triple-double and Westbrook isn't true point guard but he is improving and finished season with pretty good numbers in assists... in my opinion Rose will be better just because he will be #1 option when Durant will lead in Oklahoma
I cannot believe what I am reading... Just because Westbrook's defense is better now, some of you are siding on him??? Come on! Derrick Rose is the real deal... He has far superior skills than Westbrook and he's gonna prove it to the people...Just look at LeBron, everybody questioned his defense early in his career and right now, he is excellent in chasedown blocks and has improved his awareness... Derrick Rose will have the similar progress that LeBron has on the defensive end... Just wait and see. Rome wasn't build in a day.
In terms of trade value only, not in terms of ability or potential or anything like that.
1. Chris Paul
2. Deron Williams
3. Derrick Rose
4. Russell Westbrook
5. Tony Parker
butidont, i'd say rose has the highest trade value.... the dude isn't even 20 yet, right?
all u ppl who are saying ROSE IS THE GREATEST EVER, clearly haven't watched Russell progress. this kid is just starting to reach his potential. russell has added more to his game in the last 2 years than any other player anywhere in the world. it's astonishing. if he continues to grow as player at the same rate, he will surpass rose soon... that's a big if, but seriously, he has still has so much growing to do, yet this is still a conversation (rose vs westbrook )

Now ,ost people are probably going to say Rose..
But I'm not one of them, and I believe that Russell Westbrook is going to end up as the better player.
Now dont get me wrong, they will both be great, and may end up like CP3 and D-Will.
They are both incredibly athletic, and they both have insane potential, and both are fun to watch.
But I think Westbrooks ability to play amazing defense gices him the edge on this one.
Whats everyones opinions?
