NBA Comparison: Maceo Baston

Aran Smith – 9/18/2006

Strengths: Wows you with his athleticism. Extremely long and agile player. Very athletic, a high riser and quick leaper Thrives in the open floor game due to his great speed and fluidity Has shown steady improvement each year at Maryland, and could be primed for a breakout season Solid rebounder due to his long arms and leaping ability, but his aggressiveness around the basket would be a lot better if he had more strength Shows flashes of offense with shots in the paint and from mid range, but lacks outside shooting ability Gets a fair share of shot blocks Has shown slow but steady improvement each year at Maryland

Weaknesses: Has struggled mightily to put weight on his frame. Hes around 210-215 pounds and needs another 20 pounds at minimum to withstand the size and strength of NBA forwards. Appears to lack the body type to put on weight, and his quickness could suffer if he bulked up Stronger forwards can usually limit him by muscling him and playing him aggressively Lacks great ball handling ability, more comfortable playing in the post Not a great passer, his vision and passing ability is average at best Lacks a great shooting form, he shoots a bit of a knuckleball Needs to improve upon his free throw shooting(62%), although he has shown steady improvement …

Notes: Born in Los Angeles, Ibekwe is of Nigerian decent. He played for Nigeria in the 2006 World Championships in Japan averaging 8.7 ppg and 6.7 rpg.
