Aran Smith – 12/30/2007

Strengths: Gladness has one surefire NBA skill which is shot blocking. He led the entire nation in shot blocking as a junior and is in contention to do the same once again as a senior … He has a big wing span, quick leaping ability and excellent shot blocking instincts … His length gives him the ability to grab rebounds … Has improved at his ability to stay out of foul trouble …

Weaknesses: Outside of shot blocking ability, basically everything … Gladness lacks any real offensive skills, with poor shoting touch and no real post skills … He is currently shooting under 35% from the floor, which for a post guy, who takes most of his shots within 8 feet from the basket, is atrocious … He struggles to maintain position in the post against stronger post guys, and there are big questions about whether he can get strong enough to do so on the NBA level … His lack of strength also inhibits his ability to score around the basket and finish with contact … For a senior, his body is severely underdeveloped and it appears highly questionable that he will be able to add significant weight … Does not have a real intense or tough demeanor, which is imperative that he develop to make it inside at the professional level, whether that be NBA, Europe or minor leagues
