Justin Strings had 26 points and 11 rebounds for the host Mira Costa boys basketball team and the Mustangs improved to 2-0 with a 62-51 victory over St. Bernards in the Mira Costa Pacific Shores Tournament.

Dylan Kim added 12 points for Mira Costa, which plays North on Friday at 7:30 p.m. to determine the winner of Pool A.

Gavin Reagan finished with six points and six rebounds and Chris Lebbin chipped in eight points.

WEST TORRANCE 47, CARSON 31 >> Christian Jackson led West (1-1) with 20 points and three rebounds in pool play at the Mira Costa Pac Shores Tournament. Josh Staffieri added 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists and Matt Herrera added eight points and five assists.

CULVER CITY 51, TORRANCE 49 >> Corey Kitani had 13 points and Abdullah Nazarkhan added 11 points for Torrance (1-1) in pool play of the Mira Costa Pac Shores Tournament. Torrance missed a layup at the buzzer. Chris Edwards scored 18 points for Culver City (2-0).

NARBONNE 77, ROLLING HILLS PREP 32 >> Jeremiah Galang hit five 3-pointers and scored 19 points to lead Narbonne (1-1) in the consolation second-round game of the Redondo Pacific Shores Tournament. Ucheena Okeneme finished with 12 points and seven assists and both Jamal Hicks and Reverend Maduakor scored 11 points.

LAWNDALE 66, MORNINGSIDE 50 >> Chimezie Metu had 18 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks and Brodricks Jones added 16 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks to lead Lawndale (1-1) in the consolation second round of the Redondo Pacific Shores Tournament. R’Lando Beckles added 11 points and Tedrick Johnson had 10.

PACIFIC HILLS 65, PENINSULA 62 >> Stanley Roberts had 15 points for Peninsula (0-2), but Pacific Hills won on a 3-pointer at the buzzer in the consolation second round of the Redondo Pacific Shores Tournament. Mickey Babich added 12 points, Kurt Milch and Matt Oh both chipped in 10 points.

WEST TORRANCE 78, VENICE 27 >> Jasmine Jones had 20 points and seven rebounds for West (2-0) in its win in pool play of the Inglewood Holiday Tip-Off Classic. Kayla Sato finished with 12 points, four steals and three assists, Bailey Kirahashi added 10 points and Kayli Imoto had nine points, five steals and three assists.

MIRA COSTA 66, L.A. POLY 31 >> Camille Mills had 16 points and Keilani Ikehara added 14 points to lift Mira Costa (2-0) in pool play at the Inglewood Holiday Tip-Off Classic. Haley Tojo added 10 points and Alexa Underwood and Shannon Savino both had five points and six rebounds.

PENINSULA 75, FREDRICK DOUGLASS 26 >> Madison Lucci had 12 points, seven rebounds and two steals for Peninsula (2-0) in its pool-play game at the Inglewood Tip-Off Classic. Tiffany Lucci and Taylor Woo both pitched in with 10 points and Hannah Bruno added nine points.

EL CAMINO REAL 45, CARSON 43 >> Serena Rendon had 11 points and Imani Johnson had eight points for Carson (0-2) in the pool-play loss at the Inglewood Holiday Classic at Culver City.

ST. BERNARD 55, ANIMO L.A. 52 >> Freshman Kaylin Brown hit a three-point basket with 45 seconds remaining and finished with 19 points to lift St. Bernard (2-0) in pool play at the Inglewood Holiday Tip-Off Classic. Brown also hit four 3-pointers. Demoria White added 18 points and Chenelle Pelle finished with 16 points.

BANNING 54, NORTHRIDGE ACADEMY 9 >> Fabiola Camacho had 15 points, Mayra Zuniga scored 14 and Roxanne Salas added 12 for Banning (2-0) in its three-quarter win in pool play of the Harbor Teacher Prep Tournament. Banning plays Marine-League foe Washington in todays 6 p.m. final.

PENINSULA 2, NORTH TORRANCE 1 >> Second-half goals by Kari Schoettler and Samantha Saldana propelled host Peninsula (1-0) to the comeback win over North (1-1). Blanca Adame gave North a 1-0 lead in the first half. North goalkeeper Arianna Armijo made 16 saves.

Boys soccer

PENINSULA 6, NORTH TORRANCE 0 >> Peyman Dhalirifar scored twice for Peninsula in the nonleague season opener at North. Erik Le and Andrew McFarland each had an assist and a goal and Cheeho Chung had two assists.Christian Gillis and Colin Propst each played a half in goal.

SANTA ANA 5, HARBOR 1 >> George Zuniga scored the first goal of the match for Harbor (11-7-4), before host Santa Ana (15-4-4) scored the next five to end Harbor’s season in the second round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional. Jose Gonzalez assisted on Zuniga’s goal.

EL CAMINO 111, WEST L.A. 31 >> Fineone Prescott had 14 points and three assists and Alexis Delich added 10 points and five rebounds for host El Camino (5-2) in its nonconference win. Sydney Chase finished with 15 points and four rebounds and Michelle Garrison added 15 points and seven rebounds. El Camino had 33 total assists.
