Who else think this guy has bust written all over him? He looks like Josh McRoberts 2.0. Same size, from Indiana, looks the same, hell even has "Mc" in his name. It’s going to be fun to watch his draft stock steadily drop until hes a sophomore in college. Kids gonna get rocked in the NBA.

Yeah the prospect lovers are gonna neg me for this, and I’m going to bump this thread in a couple years to laugh at you homers for 6’10 athletic white boys from the suburbs.

I think Josh showed even more talent than him. Josh if he had come out right out of high school I think they were still able during his time or his freshmen year he would have been a top 4 pick.

So because he’s got ‘Mc’ is his name and is from Indiana he’s going to be a bust? How about you watch him play before saying such stupid things?

first of all, josh mcroberts is still relatively unproven in the nba.. secondly, for duke, he averaged something like 14 and 8 with 2 blocks and a steal per…

mcroberts per 36 minute numbers in the NBA are like 13 and 9 with 1.5 blocks and 1steal per…

if you dont think thats productive in the nba your a complete fool… on a per minute basis, mcroberts can be compared to andrew bynum, except bynum gets a tad more blocks, and mcroberts gets a ton more steals…

HOPEFULLY he turns out better than mcroberts, but anything near that is OK in my book for an nba player..

this statement reminds me of people who say ben gordon sucks in detroit when he averages almost the exact same per 36 minute numbers that he did in chicago..

Mitch McgGary is a bruiser in the post who plays more like Marcin Gortat.  McRoberts was and is a multi faceted big man who made up for what he lacked in bulk with finesse and mobility.

I think the difference between McGary and McRoberts is that I see much more passion in McGary’s game. All McRoberts wanted to do at Duke was float out to the perimeter instead of bang down low. McGary is not scared to get scrappy.

I don’t know much about McGary’s game outside of scouting reports, as I don’t do much scouting until a player gets to college, but any comparison based on how a player looks and the state they are from, I don’t give much merit.  We’ve all seen them, Eric Montross – Cole Aldrich, Kenneth Faried – Ronaldo Balkman, just bad comparisions.

I also think people overrated McRoberts athleticism coming out of high school.  He has a great vertical leap and is fast running the court, but his lateral quickness is below average.  He can really get up and dunk or contest a shot, but he’s always had a tough time sticking with players who can change direction quickly.  That’s why when he ends up on the top 10 with a monster dunk people forget he’s athletic because he doesn’t really look the part in a half court set.

That being said, he was picked 37th looks to have found a nitch and will have a long career barring injuries and averaged 7 ppg 5 rpg 2 apg in a bench role….he’s not a bust at all.  Just didn’t live up to his high school hype.

mcgary’s game is much smoother than mcroberts. i really hope michigan retains there talent for the years to come, because with mcgary the wolverines will be top 5!

McRoberts never developed either a jump shot or post moves. That aweful decision he made at some point in his childhood development I’m right handed but I’m going to shoot my jump shots left handed was just such a dumb decision I can’t believe Coach K could get him to change this. Result was a jump shot that didn’t work and took forever to get off and no ability to use it in the post. Oh well. But the boy could jump and so everyone just let him do that bullshite. Now he is somewhat effective in the NBA and he certainly has lived up to his draft position. At least the scouts got this one right and realized that he wasn’t going to be a star at the next level.

No idea where anyone is saying that McGary is going to be a super stud. He isn’t on our draft boards, right? If he develops some skills then he might succeed but he probably can’t get by with just being an athlete. Very few guys can just do the athlete thing and succeed at the next level.
