Rochester basketball star James Young named McDonald's All-American

As much as Rochester senior James Young has been able to accomplish individual in his high school basketball career, Thursday's accomplishment may be the highlight of highlights for the Kentucky-bound basketball player.

. Young is also one of five of the athletes named to the list that have committed to Kentucky.

"To me, he is a kid that only comes around in the state once every 10 to 20 years or so," Rochester coach John Pleasant said. "I think he is that good ... He can score in every way."

Young is averaging an impressive double-double on the year with 27.2 points and 16 rebounds per game. He has recently been on a stretch where he has scored 30-plus points in five-straight games. In the last three games, Young has scored 39, 43, and 33 points in his last three games, respectively.

"He's playing an amazing clip right now," Pleasant said. "A lot of that would be familiarity things with our team. He's just getting used to playing with us were getting used to playing with him."

It also helps that in the last three or four weeks, Pleasant has let Young control the ball at point guard instead of playing off the ball, which has really shown off his ability to control the game and his ability to score from anywhere.
