I am looking at active players whose majority of their careers are behind him. Not looking a players like Derrick Rose and projecting them for Hall of Fame. Please chime in.

WILL BE IN HALL OF FAME
    Kevin Garnett
    Ray Allen
    Paul Pierce
    Lebron James
    Shaq O’Neal
    Jason Kidd
    Dirk Nowitski
    Allen Iverson
    Tim Duncan
    Kobe Bryant
    Steve Nash

    ON THE FENCE
    Ben Wallace
    Tracey McGrady
    Tony Parker
    Manu Ginobolli
    Chauncey Billups

    Not long enough careers yet:
    Chris Paul
    Deron Williams
    Dwayne Wade
    Dwight Howard
    Pau Gasol

dwayne wade and pau gasol have been in the league as long or longer than lebron, so how haven’t they had long enough careers yet? But I agree with the rest. Most people will say no to steve nash and that he didnt deserve 2 mvps but the fact is nobody can take those mvps away and you cant leave put a guy that won twice. Manu Giniobil has been injured too often s I think that could hurt his chances.

I agree with Dwayne Wade. But I dont see Pau getting in at this point. Another title and yes. Career averages of 19ppg and 9 rpg with some terrible losing seasons in Memphis.

You are right cant keep Nash out with two MVPs.

Ben Wallace only won one title. I would like to see him in as I am a Detroit Pistons fan and I agree he was the best defensive player of his era. I dont think it is a sure thing though.

If you look at his career stats. In his 13 year NBA career he really only had 5 great seasons. Stats started to fall off 2005-2006. He was not a HOF player in his 4 years with Washington/Orlando or his last 4 years with Chicago/Clev.

Since when did Ben Wallace get 3 championships??????? I agree he should be in the hof, but he only has one championship. I think if Pau Gasol continues to win with Kobe and the Lakers then he will definetley be in the HOF. And he didnt have bad years in Memphis. When he was there they actually made the playoffs a few season and had a couple of 50 win seasons

i’m sure that i’ll get slammed for this but i will say it anyhow, is it really a given that paul pierce is a no doubt hall of famer? how many times has he made all NBA first team, 1 or 2 times. I think the success he’s had the last two seasons have really inflated people’s opinions of him. I mean it took a guy like Alex English a long time to finally get recognized as a Hall of Famer and his numbers far exceed Pierce’s. Dont get me wrong he has had a fantastic career and he’s a tremendous player but I just dont view him as a lock for the hall of fame right now. thoughts?

i don’t think Ginoble hes a scorer but hes never scored an extreme amount and hes weak defensively. he has the rings but that’s all.

    Just stating his case

Paul Pierce is an 8x all star and 3x All NBA third team and 1x NBA second team.

He won the Finals NBA MVP which I think is huge for someones case to make HOF. He came up big on the games biggest stage.

    Career stats of 23ppg 6 rpg 4apg.

Had five seasons where he averaged over 25ppg.

The reason I put him on is his contribution to the three titles he has won with the Spurs.

The Celtics won three titles and their top three players made the HOF:
    Bird, Parish, McHale

Lakers won 5 titles and their top three players made the hall:
    Kareem, Magic, Worthy

Completely agree with you that he has had an oustanding career, but most of his huge individual number came during a time when the celtics were mediorce at best. When Pierce was carrying the celtics on his back alone, the celtics were a borderline playoff team at best. It took the addition of other superstars to bring his game to another level. Granted Pierce stepped his game up to and became a better player as well. I guess my point is i’m not saying that Pierce isnt a potential hall of famer, i just think its a little ridiculous that he’s a sure-fire first ballot hall of famer like some suggest.

I think its gotten to the point where we think every good/great player should be a Hall of Famer, where I think it should be reserved for the truly elite

I think Wade has done at least as much as LBJ in their equally short careers, if Lebron is a lock then so is Wade.

Yao Ming is on the fence as well. 7 time all star and one of the best face up shooting centers of all time.

You have to remember Ming makes the All-Star game every year because of all the Chinese fans that vote him as a starter.

He has been a great ambassador for the NBA in China but his accomplishments do not warrant selection. Has only averaged a double double twice in his career. Has never played in the Western Conference Finals.

Unless he comes back and Houston has some success he is not even close to HOF.

I have to ask: If Lebron James got hurt and broke his leg tonight…is he a hall of famer?

I don’t think Ben Wallace gets in. Like bad boys pointed out, he was a mediocre player his first 4 years and has been mediocre once again his liast 3 years. He had a great run with the pistons for about 5 seasons, but even then he was more of a role player then a takeover type.

If Lebron neer played another game, then yeah I would put him in. In 6 season’s he has played unbelievable and made an impact on the game. HIs greatness is undeniable, and people will recognize it even if something happened today that ended his career.

I dunno. To me, It’s the Hall of Fame. I don’t want a What-If guy in there.

Projecting down the line- Yes, LBJ will be in the NBA HOF but right now? I dont think so

Just curious…do you think Bill Walton should be in the hall? I definitly don’t think he should have been on the 50 greatest players list.

dont forget paul pierce took the celtics to the eastern conferance finals 2 years in a row. if antoine walker could guard kenyon martain they wouldve went to the finals one of those years

    To be honest…NO

He had a 3 good seasons. He got into the HOF because of his injury plaged career and then his UCLA career.

I don’t know if Bill Walton deserved to get in, I would have to check his stats, but it is the basketball hall of fame and not just NBA so his accomplishements at UCLA weigh heavily in his favor. He also was the best player and Finals mvp on a title team.

looking at Bad Boy’s on the fence list:

Ben Wallace and Manu Ginobli would be out in my mind. They just haven’t had the type of careers that really seperates them from the rest the league.

Billups, McGrady and Parker are tough calls. We truly have to wait and see what they do from here on out.

I know he acted like a goofball, but the doors to the Hall of Fame should be shut down if Ben Wallace enters the Hall of Fame before Dennis Rodman. FACT

Rodman for sure deserves to get in.

Five time NBA Champion. 2 time defensive player of the year.

Averaged over 15 rebounds 6 years in a row and over 18 rebounds twice.

Unlike Ben Wallace Rodman is a great one on one defender as well. Wallace was great at help side but not so great in shutting his man down.
