A new mock for the new year!!!
I don’t have too much to add. I suppose a lot of people are higher on McNeeley than I am. I am worried a bit with the latest injury (although I didn’t change where I had him ranked from the last mock I posted here), but I’d like to see how he returns from it. I still think he’s a pretty surefire one-and-done, and I can definitely see an argument to have him higher. I think the talent is there, and I can buy that he’s a bit better than his (already solid) statlines. He certainly has an NBA frame.
Speaking of injuries, I don’t really know how much Cedric Coward has been on NBA radars to begin with, but his shoulder injury was pretty serious, I know he’s done for the whole rest of the season following the surgery. Betting on a prospect who hasn’t returned from a major injury yet is hard, and I wonder if he’ll be ready for the combine at all. But I think there’s reason for NBA teams to still have some interest in Coward. He still never quite had a lot of high-major opportunity, but it seemed like going from low-major competition to mid-major competition wasn’t slowing him down much in the early season. I think there’s a lot to like there, so I still have him as a late 2nd round pick. I guess we’ll see.
